I have had two other GPSs and while the TomTom is easier to operate, this one is far better. I had a Navigon before this one and I couldn't use common street names, but the actual hi-way numbers. This one is great! The only downside is:it doesn't show how many miles are left in the trip. I wish i would have waited a week later to get it for 120, instead of 150!

Bought this for my wife for christmas! I took it out for a test drive, and I can hardly trust myself to give it to her! (i.e. I want it that bad!) It's a nice, solid unit with fairly sturdy construction, and it packs enough useful features to provide all the necessary information in a quick, detailed manner without feeling stuffed to the gills with unwanted extras. Plus, I got it on sale here.

If I had waited a week, I could have gotten it $50.00 cheaper. It was very disappointed to see that this item was on sale a week after I had purchase it. However, overall I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I've heard good things about this company. Thanks!

Been wanting to purchase a GPS and have been researching for quite a while. This was a great deal on a Garmin. I like it so much, I recommended it to a friend who got an even better deal on it than I did!

If you want a bunch of bells and whistles, this is not your first choice. If, however, you wish to have a reasonably priced GPS that is packed with basic features and will meet the needs for which it was designed, then by all means this is my recommendation. It acquires quickly, is very user friendly and with the price offered at TigerDirect, an excellent combination. The wide screen in particular I have enjoyed. My previous GPS was a Garmin Streetpilot C330. The Nuvi has incorporated many additional features to aid in navigation.

The purchase that caused me to write this review was for a gift that hasn't been given yet. So my review is based on my 18 month experience with the same unit. The unit has to be considered a starter unit but I have found that it meets most of my needs. The only option I would really want that I don't have is the ability to enter multi stop routes. The unit appears to have a limit of one although by fooling it you can get a few more in. The satellite acquisition is good although be warned that the first time might take 20 minutes. The database of points of interest (6 million) is fairly accurate but for specific stores you do better to download stuff from the internet which is kept current by several websites. Cautions that apply to any GPS: map updates are expensive, if you like your unit you might want to purchase lifetime for $110 (single update is $60). User manual not the best.

This GPS is awesome! It's very user friendly and has a bunch of POI's.. The thing that I really enjoy about this GPS is that it tells you the speed limit(so far its been very accurate with the speed limit!. You can also view pictures off of your SD card with this GPS (I don't know why you would want to but its good to have extra features!) if your in the market for a user friendly GPS this is the one for you! 5 STARS!

I am totally blown away by how really good this GPS is. It's my first experience with one, but I decided to take a short trip away from the main road during the holiday, and it took me through some very rural area, directly to where I wanted to go, and back. I'm ecstatic. Wish I had waited a bit for the price savings, but it is worth every dime!

Purchased the 255W yesterday, and the New unit has OLD softwear. Wanted directions to a Bass Pro store in Bowlingbrook, IL, that has been there 3 years, and no luck!I also bought a Magillon 1440 for my wife, and although it was $20.00 more,It had everything up to date, the Bass Pro store was in there. It is a much better unit!

I haven't compared to many GPS's except through the internet. I received this unit the other day and have yet to do much traveling with it. I live in a rural area but I did list all of the names of the streets in my area. It was easy to use and seems to work fine. Hope to use it alot in the future.

The Garmin Nuvi 255W is my first GPS. I can not believe I waited so long to own one. The Nuvi is simple to use, the touch screen is great. I have used it twice now in big city traffic where I hate driving because I don't know my way around. The Nuvi gave me directions early enough to make all the lane changes I needed without being rushed. Awesome product. The best part was the price and it showed up the next day with free freight.

Ok so at first I was a little hesitant, it is after all my first gps but once I got a hold of it I cannot let go. I bought it in a great value. no major things to complain about just that I wished it could have had a little bigger screen however, it is manageable. And another thing is that the

Garmin has done it again. Here is a simple to use, easy to understand and never get lost again GPS. I gave my old Garmin to my delivery guy and bought this one. Didn't think there would be much difference. Boy was I wrong. Nice big screen. Brightness control. Easy to navigate through the screens. I love that you can LOCK the unit to prevent someone from finding your HOME. I would say the ONLY negative comment I could make is I wish it had a volume knob, not in the software. No way to quickly turn it up or down. That cost them a star on the Features rating. Simply put, I will be buying this model from here on out. As long as you don't need all the expensive whistles and bells (who really uses them much anyway) this is the best way to go.
