Garmin Nuvi 255W 4.3" GPS Navigation with Text to Speech

Comment:
This new unit replaced a Garmin that is 3 years old. Substantial improvement. HotFix is an excellent function. Some of the maps in the NEW Garmin are still giving poor directions (stop to early or wrong side of road). Some of the added features are very handy. All in all, I am happy I purchased this unit. Pricing: They're not always the best. A week later found identical unit at Bass Pro Outlets for $10 less. No biggie. Would have liked to have the $10 in my pocket!

Recently used in LA, got us everywhere we wanted to go. POI was very easy to use. I would like it to show remaining distance instead of time of arrival on the main screen, not a big deal though.

Thi GPS is easy to use and performs excellent. Used the GPS on the East Coast for a 14 day roard trip through VA, MD, DE, NC, and SC. It was also a great value through this site.

We took a 10 day trip to a new location and it never made a mistake. It took us everwhere and gave us perfect directions. This is our first Garman and it is great. I have used other GPS's and this is so easy to use the it makes everything so simple. I can't recommed it enough!!!

Okay I'll keep it short. Wow! I used the 255W to navigate Mid to Sourthern Alaska, and the Yukon Territory (Canada). Never missed a beat, even when I did... it just recalculated a new route. I even use it around town for resurant choices, hotels, etc. A must have for those who prefer to drive.

This is our first gps. Took a 1k trip with it right out of the box. While the wife drove I played with it. 2 hours out I was easily using all the features it had to offer. Avg speed, fuel economy, highest speed reached, arrival time, miles traveled and miles to go,found our over nite accomodations, etc. etc., and never made a wrong turn. Try it youll like it!

To start with it is a Garmin which produce some of the best and most innovative Aviation GPS units you know this one will be rock solid and it is! I live in the country and work in the city and I can tell you it is a good performer with top notch maps. The predicted arrival times are very accurate. The routes selected are very good and it adaps quickly to detours and driving errors. The only nits I can find are the addresses in the country can be off by 250 meters, it is really good in the city. Lots of options to set to setup the unit if you want to customize it. I would buy it again if it got stolen.

Had the opportunity to use this model on a recent hunting trip. Purchased my own when I got back. Simple to use, lots of eatures and a great deal. Best of all, I ordered it at noon and it arrived the next day!

I can't say enough about the 255. This is my second GPS. The first one is still working but my lady ''borrowed'' it. I would give it five stars except that accuracy when walking in the forest jumps around from set points between 3 to 20ft. No problems driving. Suggest purchasing the power cable that comes with the lifetime traffic service. It is a nice feature to be notified of traffic in the city and given alternate routes.

It doesn't Bluetooth or play MP3's, so if you're looking for straight-up navigation this is the right one for you. I recently moved to a new city and this unit has been enormously helpful - aside from telling me where I am, it has a very large POI database. Hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, and besides telling you how to get there it also has the business phone number. Aside from a couple of minor mapping errors I am completely satisfied with this device and won't leave home without it!

Screen is bright and easy to read. Good value. Locate and re-calculate signal quickly when a wrong turn is made. Updating the pre-loaded maps where a little frustrating. Would not update over a wireless network.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 255w for my wife and she loves it. We know the area we live in fairly well but this thing just makes all the normal day-to-day errand trips so much more manageable. You can set up trips and get the best routes plus it's exceptionally quick to ''Recalculate'' when you make a wrong turn or decide to try a new way. For the money spent and the fact that this thing is literally a plug-and-play(with easy mounts) I have no regrets for choosing not only Garmin but Tiger Direct who had the lowest prices and best info I could find on GPS units.

Good routing and esay to use. The internet updates can be time consuming (even wih DSL), but is much better than the prior generation machines where a CD needed to mailed

The GPS worked great right out of the box. It is a big help for our teenage drivers as they drive to tournaments, etc. I did take advantage of the free update for the system maps and was a bit disappointed that some new local gas stations and stores (2 or 3 years old) were not in the update.

This is a good solid GPS. I have many as I own and operate a delivery business and this has been the best, at a good price, so far. It acquires signal easily, had good directions and lists many many POI. I like it better than the Tom Toms I have had. Mostly just a preference of mine as both acted well, I just like the screen look and features better of the Garmin.

One of my friends has this model, so when I saw the price I bought it. Works very well, although my need for it is limited, since we don't travel out of area very often.

I had asked around about the best gps unit to buy and I kept getting Nuvi as the answer. When I saw this unit at the advertised price, I couldn't pass it up. It mispronounces some of the streets, which is kind of humorous! Haven't had an opportunity to work with it much but it has worked fine the couple times we've use it.
