A day after I purchased this unit,the Source offered the same unit $75 cheaper. Generally the unit provides accurate directions BUT there is no option to program for main roads. I live in the country and it wants me to drive gravel roads that provide a slightly shorter trip and avoids the paved roads. The voice is garbled on some names. The update site did not recognize my model.

I have only used the product once, but was pleased with the performance. Unit is very easy to use and understand.

I first bought a Magellan Roadmate. It was ok, had lane change and way overpriced. I returned it and got the Garmin 255. Love it. 100 cheaper than Magellan, works great, and has xtra voices and cars to download. Very Happy with this one.

I bought this item Garmin as a Xmas present for my son, he will be travelling for a while out of the country (Australia) and since this GPS has the possibility to add maps cards, it was a no brainer... Since most of GPS needs downloads etc and internet connection this option will be a +. Pretty sure, he will not stop with Australia and we will end up buying a few more of those maps cards to go with is new Garmin.

Bought the Garmin 255W for my son for Christmas and it worked great right out of the box. Easy to use and easy to understand the onscreen directions. Great product.

I bought this unit as I wanted text to speech, something my 2 year old TomTom dosen't have. This unit is so much easier to use, screen size is less important now that I have this thing spitting out oral directions, I no longer take my eyes from the road. Routes better, recalculates quicker and has more POI's, what an upgrade. Even my wife can use it!!! What better testimonial could you want?

I bought two for this great price! One for my daughter and one my husband. We used them on a few short trips over the holidays. Both are very happy with the product so far and I'm happy with the value.

Pro's: Accurate as heck. Tracked a change in speed limit practically to the foot. Knows about roads I hadn't noticed. Synchs with satellites in a matter of moments. Display can be easily seen in daylight after adjusting mount to eliminate reflections. Con's: Voice stumbles over road names sometimes. Registration requires a USB cable with an A-male and a Micro B-male that wasn't provided in box. I suppose anyone who's purchased much of anything these days has one of these lying about, but it could require a trip to a parts store. We happened to have a medical emergency shortly after buying it. The method of locating the nearest medical facility was sufficiently awkward that I gave up and guessed. We were lucky--it didn't affect the emergency either way. Over-all: I'm greatly impressed and generally pleased. I would buy it again knowing what I know now.

this was for my wife and she loves it. This is our first GPS. This has speed limits shown so not sure if most gps do that. We live in Houston so even though it shows some routes, you have to know what areas are really bad traffic spots but if you pass the exit up, it recalculates relatively quickly.

simple to use,couldn't find RV Parks,help line told us to to put just RV in, up came all the Parks in the area.

Great little system, I picked it up as an early self Christmas gift for 119.99. Also having recently moved to a new area finding new and familiar places to eat and get gas were as easy as un-locking your phone. (I.E 2-3 button presses from the map) The only bad side and I'm not 100% sure that it could only just be my area but it takes a few blocks to find a satellite. Other than that it a great buy!

When I bought this unit the reviews were all good. I believed this site and bought it. I took my first trip last weekend, a dog rescue tranport. The unit directed me to country roads which were unplowed in a snow storm with 5 inches of snow already on the ground. It was one of the WORST trips of my life. If it hadn't been for a newspaper van delivering in a tiny town, which I stopped for help, I don't know what I would have done. I followed them in blinding snow for half an hour and can't THANK them enough for getting me to a major road. I learned this unit has no way to set major roads. I am EXTREMELY dissapointed with this unit and guess I am also stuck with it, since it is 2 days over the 30 days, from when it was ordered. It appears there is someone else on the news that experienced the same experience with a GPS (do not know the brand). I have inquired to see if someone is going to make good on this unreliable and unsafe product.

First time using a GPS. Makes it easy to get around. Lots of heads up for lane changes, quick re-calculations. Do not need to buy charger, as one is included.

Have used same model in Honolulu and all over Oahu, worked great, very accurate. However, I live in upper Michigan. Not so good here. When setting my home address, it missed it by 2 miles. In fairness, online map sites struggle with my address too. The database is missing some roads in Escanaba. Voice prompts strugles with one main road in Marquette County, Highway 553. It does tell you the correct turns on and off it. The map label is correct. It has never gotten me lost and the quickest route has been OK. Shortest route suffers from missing roads. Overall I like it.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister. I watched her as she tried it and it appears to be easy to use. It has a nice screen and is a good size. Plus I got it on sale!

I don't know why i waited so long to get one of these. I use Garmin in the field (hand held) and am confident in it, so wanted a garmin for the car. it is clear, simple to use and reliable. only drawback is that this unit doesn't allow me to pick fasted route vs most direct vs best roads etc. so it can take me on some odd routes, but i always arrive at my destiunation.
