Can't beat the price and 7200 rpm at that! General for the value, the overall performance, and the capacity I would say there are no cons what so ever. If your searching for a secondary drive to spruce up your Pc's space for pennies on the dollar this is it.

I demand a lot from my hardware, and even even though this drive is the lowest rated hardware device according to Windows 7, it causes me zero greif. none Make certain you use the bottom screws when mounting this drive. The more firmly it is seated in the chassis, the smoother, and more constant its efficiency is.I produced the mistake of believing the rubber screws that came with my case were adequate for my peripheral drives. The drive would make a throbbing noise, which I thought was coming from my fans, but were coming from this drive.I just produced positive every threaded hole in the drive was mounted firmly with the proper screws, and the noise disappeared, as did the performance inconsistencies. If you think Seagate's specialty is exclusivly SCSI drives, you must critique your prejudices and contemplate this SATA drive as a viable storage remedy.

Size/price ratio.Speed surprised me. Absolutely nothing groundbreaking, but initial bench's gave me an average of 123mb/s read and 115mb/s write.OS+ numerous computer software+ games+ defrag following installations, and she's maintaining a solid 109-114 read, 103-112 write.Windows 7 provides it a 5.9, but I'm guessing it's 7.9 standard is SSD. Wish I purchased 1 sooner. Originally purchased as a media storage drive, til my 300gb Raptor died. Will get a 160gb SSD..... sometime. This drive is just a solid performer.

Inexpensive... but not worth it Seagate has been turning out low-top quality drives lately. I've owned these drives for just over a year and they've currently failed twice. I'm warrantying and shelving them as backup drives. Do your analysis, seagate lately purchased out maxtor, as a outcome drives coming from those factories are sub-par and most likely to fail, its a toss up if you'll get a decent drive from seagate now.I work at a personal computer repair shop, ironically a buyer with two 1TB versions of these drives came in. each of them were poor, they had failed simultaneously. I do not suggest these drives, especially for information storage.Even though any brand has lemons, i go with western digital, my shop offers with them often and they have not gone wrong, when a drive does fail, the warrantying process is simple and hassle cost-free. (seagate is also more tough with warrantying which is why i'm posting this at two am..)

Ran OK for three days. (I guess that's a pro.) Died on the fourth day. (That qualifies as a massive-time con.) Got this piece of junk as part of a bundle, regardless of my far better judgment. Spent 3 days putting in / updating Windows and other software, then began hearing a loud click, like a camera shutter, about every two seconds. Got worse in the next couple of hours, until it finally died (ironically, though I was running Seagate's Seatools disc utility). Now, I'm stuck with requesting a replacement (instead of a refund), since of the bundle discount. Just wish I could bill Seagate for the four days I've lost attempting out their lousy item.

Cheap This HDD and one more 1 like broke down soon after a couple of months of use. This is a disaster for a HDD, to just stop operating like these did. I was sitting in front of my Computer and all the sudden a unusual clicking and scraping noise comes from my NAS subsequent to me, 10 seconds later the NAS goes into emergency mode and shuts down all the drives and the raid array to stop data loss. I go buy a new drive and replace the faulty one, the raid rebuilds... two weeks later the very same thing occurs with the second of three drives I purchased.... correct now the third is underneath "Warning" mode mainly because of some bad sectors.... failure, Im confident, is imminent. I under no circumstances create a bad evaluation, Im very understanding of technologies's shortcoming and with manufacturer's burden of producing something that in no way breaks. But this is knowingly and maliciously selling a BROKEN item.Shame on you as well NewEgg the Pros do not by any measure even begin to make up for the catastrophic failure of these drives

inexpensive, still running following 3 months the Intelligent reporting is messed up on this drive, each spin up/down cycle causes errors in Intelligent reporting, I hoped it would be fixed soon after the firmware update... in a lot of situations, the Tricky errors on the dive shown by Wise are false reports.no way of disabling the spin down - built in the F/W ( green drives will save you a fortune - three-four bucks a year on your power bill )because I do not trust this drive, it acts as a secondary backup storage media... for "unimportant" or / recoverable data... sad... in the ྖ, seagate was on the bottom of my list, since their SCSI drives had been getting so hot, it was not feasible to hold them in a hand for additional than five seconds ( well vented server cases ) this was the warmest and pricey drive, with reside span approx two-three years... again, sad

cheap, Seagate Barracuda name & rep from back in the day. bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB in 2009 to go along with pre-installed Segate Barracuda 7200.11 750GB that came with HP EX485. No problems with 2009 buy, two years later needed much more space so bought a second Segate Barradcuda 7200.11 1.5TB in Jan 2011. Issues; backup function went offline soon after a week then file program errors, ran chkdsk /r, and so on. Gave up and chose to return for identical make and model within 30 days. Will update review at a later date soon after RMA.

Oh nicely, I read the testimonials. Buyer beware..... New Egg as per usual is good, and rma'ed etc and will do the exchange. Low top quality definitely I have generally had Seagate Drives and nothing like this ever occurred........wow! I have had their drives for years, WTH happened to these?

Have not yet exploded and injured innocent bystanders. Every thing else... I have 8 of these drives and have performed 11 RMAs. I nevertheless have 1 original operating (with Intelligent errors starting), but am now RMAing my replacement RMA drives at this point Ɣ so far). The firmware concern with these drives was only the tip of the iceberg--there are fatal flaws with the hardware itself. I have under no circumstances skilled a tech product that performs this poorly. I have been a lifetime Seagate hdd buyer since of their reliability and warranty. Every tech business stumbles occasionally, but Seagate's handling of this problem (i.e. denial--lack of support) is what has me buying anything but Seagate at this point.Further point: Seagate's "Advanced RMA" method (they ship you a refurb drive first, you pack up your dead drive and send it back) is ฤ/drive. Even if you have numerous drives going back in one batch. I had three drives fail in the space of a week and it was ์ to do the Advanced RMA--even although all 3 came and went in a single box. Western Digital provides this service for free of charge. Seagate is losing on just about every front right here.

I have a couple of Seagate drives I don't know why so quite a few other folks are getting difficulty with these products? Just as excellent as WD items. No failures of hard drives for me, 2 drives past life cycle. Operating 24ǝ no problems. What a mystery......

Don't purchase Seagate. None. 100% Failure rate at delivery on two drives: the initial purchase and a replacement. None. 100% Failure rate at delivery. Twice. Seagate sends out untested, failing drives. Don't take your probabilities and waste your time. Two brand new drives both failing per S.M.A.R.T. utility with poor sectors and reallocated sectors. Wast of time. Get a reliable brand that really tests their drives before their sold!!!!

When they operate. They're solid. I consistently got 80-110MB/s read/writes from them. I did nevertheless run into an issue when they got full. I've purchased a total of 4 of these drives. two in 2009 and two over Black Friday. Shortly soon after that, one particular of the original drives began creating the "click of death". It died at the finish of December. As did the other original drive. If the drives were better than twoǙs full, videos would skip in playback. I could not watch videos cleanly. I copy the video off the drive, operates excellent. Run it from the drive, unwatchable. At the suggestion of our Database team, I removed information such that the drives had been half complete and defragged. Drives worked once again.Currently, would not get once more. As soon as I RMA the negative drives, I'll see how well they hold up but my last HD purchases have been WDs. Have not had a likelihood to RMA drives yet, so haven't had an knowledge with Seagate Customer Service.

None. Seagate does not stand by their items. I can only assume other people were treated that very same as me considering that so a lot of of these drives have crashed. The drive had Intelligent errors indicating negative sectors for about a week before the entire drive crashed. I put it into three diverse systems and can not access the data or even format the disc. I had only employed the drive for about 9 months. I tried to RMA the device but Seagate says there is absolutely nothing incorrect with it. That is challenging to believe thinking about that their personal software can not even see that the device is plugged into the laptop or computer when the OS can see it. I will never get a Seagate item once more. I refuse to do small business with a spineless organization that sells poorly manufactured parts and refuses to admit it. I invest in a lot of laptop or computer equipment I have in no way been treated with such disrespect. I will make every single effort to make certain that every person in my organization and linked IT groups knows precisely what type of business Seagate is. TRASH!!!

Got mine for no cost.Still working.Reasonably quickly and quiet. Can fry an egg on it. I've got my issues about this one. It runs. But it runs way too hot compared to the average HDD. We use ours for temporary storage (along with 3 other copies) when rebuilding arrays. So far, no wise warnings or clicks of death. I'm not certain I'd trust this one in normal duty, though. Applied to be really fond of Seagate. Not any a lot more. Samsungs run cooler and WDs run far better, it seems. Hopefully, Seagate won't bugger up the Samsung line, too.
