These hard drives are the shizzle
Comment:
Those guys that don't know how to build a computer always got something negative to say. I got 5. You need 5 to run RAID 1.0 not 10 its called for starters. lol. But all the same, you should have some of these ranting friends, They like to bash everything and spend thousands on stuff they know nothing about, better than madTV. I wish they had the 2tb when I got these. Your not ahead of the game you might think. HD Video, uses it up, like a drunk through a six pack. Buy em. Don't waste your money on WD. They are behind the times anyway. Where is their 2gb?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Unstable if you have bad firmware.

Pros:Large amount of storage, very stable with updated firmware.
Comment:
I have 2 of these, I use them for storing my movie collection, and the system partition is also on one of them. Windows used to lock inexplicably and repeatedly when I got my first one, but after updating the firmware, it's worked great.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Can not change size using Seatools (Passes all tests though)

Pros:SizeQuietPrice/GB (Especially on sale, and compared to what I payed for a slower, 500GB drive awhile back.)Faster than my old drives5 year warranty
Comment:
I bought this drive hoping to shrink it down to a 300GB drive so it used just the first 20% of the platter, making it a faster drive. (I read an article about it.) Sadly, Seatools fails every time I try. The drive works, and I can't be bothered to pay for shipping for such a trivial issue. So I now share it on the network so my roommates downstairs have access to mass storage. So in the end, I am happy with it.

very poor performance
Comment:
I purchased 2 of the Seagate 1.5 tb drives. On e was used as main drive and second was used as backup drive. The first has quit working after only 4 months and now I am getting a replacement under warranty. Only thing is that they are replacing it with a refurblished drive, not a new one. I bought a new drive and wanted a long service period, now after mine going dead, I get to have one that went dead on someone else already. Isn't that just lovely.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:- Failed drives in the past might scare away buyers- Doesn't cook me breakfast

Pros:- Cheapest for this size- Seagate (at least it's not Maxtor!)
Comment:
Bought two of these to rip HD movies to so I can stream them through my WD TV HD. One for primary and one for backup. So far, I haven't had any issues, and I'm sure Seagate wouldn't continue to release faulty drives, so I'm not worried about my drives failing.

3 in a server
Comment:
Ok I bought 3 of these for my server! I had to return one but I think because I didn't have a big enough power supply! Once I replaced the power supply no more problems! I'm running 9 drives 3@ 1.5 tb seagate 2@ 1 tb seagate 2@ 500 gb western digital 1@ 320 gb seagate 1@ 150 gb seagate! 4 core amd over clocked @ 2.9, 4 gigs of ram with 550 watt power supply

Wasted hours, wasted summer
Comment:
I ordered three of these. One seems to work properly... though all three report drive errors. The SeaTools program says it all... FAIL. I was really hoping these would be a good storage and backup solution, but instead, I've spent 1/2 the summer trying to recover the files I transfered onto these things. A real shame.

POOR QUALITY
Comment:
Bought 2 of these drives close to year ago and both were DOA. I replaced them and same thing. Replaced second time and same thing. I got Western and so far so good. Now I got 2 of these drives again - since Seagate updated the firmware. 1 month and second failed - thank God for RAID 1. Replaced it. 2 weeks after the replacement failed - replaced the replacement. month after second failed. Got rid of them both. Got 2TB Westerns which are expensive but no issues. What's happening Seagate?

Be careful...
Comment:
I personally lost the information to do a return. But one out of the 3 I purchased was doa. I have read many reviews on this drive and a lot of them warn about it's failure. Sadly I had someone else purchase this drive for me so I'm at a loss. If you do anything with this drive I suggest just storing data that you don't really care about on it. I can only format it to 75ish percent and it just hangs.

Comment:
I bought four of these for a RAID configuration ... and two have now developed increasing numbers of reallocated sectors - symptoms of slow failure. I will replace them with non-Seagate drives as soon as 2TB drive prices come down a bit.

Comment:
This drive does not come with power or sata cables, nor the power cable adapter that Seagate says they pack with their drives. Must be an oversight not to mention it in advertisement.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:none so far...

Pros:BIG and FAST!!!
Comment:
I love it!! Its marginally faster then my WD 1TB Black. 106mb/s vs 89mb/s. Formats in 3hrs, not the 4 it takes my Black to, which is a smaller drive... go figure...? Some are affected by faulty firmware, but mine came with good firmware out of the box... whew.. Overal its the best drive for the money out there, as long as you don't get a dud..

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:None.

Pros:Good PerformanceSizeQuiet
Comment:
I have four of these hard drives. Two in my main workstation (Antec Sonata III - Raid 0) and two in a Dlink DNS323 (Raid 0)As far as hard drives go, they have not given me any problems and pretty straight forward. SATA II w/ 32M gives good overall performance, and the drives are barely audible when they are in use in both my cases. Only time I hear them is when they come out of sleep mode. This is a good product, and highly recommend if you're in the market for larger than 1TB drives.

Cons:Locks up

Pros:Amazing price
Comment:
I had no problem installing and formatting the drive (initially in an enclosure) but after very little use I found it locking up. I quickly tried anther PC and and an internal installation. I formatted a 2nd time but every time I tried to transfer data beyond a 121gb capacity the same result.I am going to RMA

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:People are having some problems with Seagate, not only because of the firmware fiasco, they just seem to die more often than say, the WD competitor model.

Pros:Lots of space.Good price on sale.
Comment:
Good drive & space for the price on sale. But not as reliable as its WD counterpart, they just fail more. Also 3 years warranty no longer 5 years with Seagate!

Pros:Reliable & snappy
Comment:
Needed to update  my HDD system, so I decided to go with this 1.5 TB Seagate. I am happy that it is at least a 32MB Cache, as many "cheap" drives seem to only be 16. Good price as well, so I am all around satisfied

Comment:
Currently have a Home Server/HTPC computer (Yes that's a weird mix) and inside I have a 640gig WD Blue for the OS, 1.5TB seagate and 2TB WD GP.It is noisier than the GP but considerably faster.Writing to the drive directly over the NAS I get speeds of 80-90MB/s vs. 60-70 on the GP.Playing Videos however (doesn't matter if it's 1080p or regular crappy divx) will sometimes (once every 10 mins or so) stutter for a moment or two. This is not experienced when playing off the GP. I have the CC1H firmware which according to the seagate website is not affected by the issues they have been experiencing but there is still clearly something there.Wouldn't use these in a raid, but for a makeshift home server box they're perfect.

Wow
Comment:
I have bought this hard drive last December and all I can say is Amazing.I don't know if its just me but its very fast. the capacity is more than enough for a standard user or a media center pc and I don't know if its important for a 3.5 inc hard drive but Its extremely shock resistant. Cons: very heavy (but who cares its for a desktop) By the way very affordable

Latest generation hard drive is nice and quiet.
Comment:
I've just bought the latest generation 1.5TB Seagate hard drive and I was impressed with how quiet the drive is. I've installed it on an exposed drive dock sitting on my desk and it is very silent. It is an improvement over previous generation high-capacity hard drives. Bravo seagate.

I'm going to buy my fourth one
Comment:
Vista will not recognize/format higher than a 1TB drive. My workaround is this: I have a sata to usb adaptor. I format the drive on this. I have a sata RAID pci card. I attach the drive to this. Voila: 1.5TB useable on Vista. The drive runs cool, is quiet, and at around 12 cents/GB is quite a bargain. I have over 1300 movies on one hard drive. Talk about video on demand!
