Cons:not the fastest out there

Pros:PriceStability

On sale for $80. Paired with a 970A board and some DDR3 1600. OC'ed to 3.8 at 1.35v with a Hyper 212. A very capable system for under $200. It's no i7 but it's enough power for most people at a fraction of the cost.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:125 watts, these can run a bit hot, stock fan is awful.

Pros:$79.99, It's really good price to performance ratio. 8 MB cache.
Comment:
I've been using a AMD 945, and 965 in two of my machines for two years now. They are solid and can still handle what ever I throw at them. I bought this 955 to upgrade my media computer based on my experience with the 945 and 965. This performs as well for what I throw at it. The stock fan that comes with these three CPU's I mentioned are the same and they are horrible. They are really loud. These also tend to run pretty warm compared to the Intel CPU's that I have. When I picked this up I also picked up a new cooler knowing how loud and bad the stock one is. I'd buy another one of these if I need an inexpensive CPU. These are still perform well and are at a great price. Most CPU's this cheap do not have an 8 MB cache.

Fantastic. Runs rapid. Video converting wont use additional than 40% of the cpu, so i can do additional stuff whilst its carrying out so. Great speed, Overclocking it is very superior to. Generally goes to at least 4Ghz with a very good cooler. If your on a tight price range dont hesitate to acquire this CPU. Only con is stock cooler is truly loud, the thermal paste with it is also terrible. Fairly sturdy to. I did a rookie mistake purchase placing to considerably pressure while attempting to eliminate the cpu cooler and pulled both the Cpu and the cooler out of the socket while it was locked. It survived, not a pin bent. Benchmark (Standalone): four,200. (Average is around three,900)

Good processor at great price. I All 4 cores firing at 3.2GHz total. I haven't tried to overclock this but but it ought to be uncomplicated with my motherboard and AMD overdrive :] Stock heat-sink/fan is fantastic for my wants since I only plan to slightly overclock this in the future given that I'm the cautious form. **For really serious overclockers see con. For individuals searching to overclock I'd say the stock heat-sink/fan is decent sufficient to deal with a couple of .1GHz notches up in speed but attempting to do some thing like move it up towards four.0GHz is gonna require an aftermarket solution. I ran this processor with max load for five+ minutes until the heat stabilized at about 55-58°C(Pretty hot, I know). Following this point it's doable the heat may have gone higher but it was taking a number of minutes to do so. [Note: My case has five fans total 3 pulling and 2 pushing as well as 3rd intake port with a mild dust mesh.]

Almost certainly a superior cpu - so far all I can do is appear at the Bios (see Cons). Be careful with mobo selection (see Cons)! There's a lot of whining about the stock cooler but it truly appears to function fine and isn't specifically noisy. This is a 125W cpu! Be very careful choosing a motherboard. Getting a Phenom noob I accidentally purchased a budget board that does not assistance 125W cpu's. Soon after a lot of digging I see now that no board below โ supports 125W cpu's. Most are 95W. You really have to dig into Newegg's descriptions to locate the TDP - if it's listed at all. Newegg usually delivers a link that will take you straight to the manufacturer's web page where there usually is a CPU compatibility list. Use It! The TDP must be a search choice for AMD processors.

Very quickly, large upgrade from the single core AMD 64. Easily over clock-capable. Stock fan can be loud. Not bad if all you're performing is some web browsing or a film, but any games, encoding, and so forth...really starts to make it whine. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase. Overclocked to three.four with ӱ degree f boost with stock cooling. Could be the explanation for some of the loudness from the fan.

Wonderful product. Overclocked with stock heatsink to four.0GHZ, a 25% raise. It runs totally phenomenally for it's cost. Prior to this processor, I ran games like Crysis, Battlefield: Undesirable Company two, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on low good quality. With this processor and no other upgrades, I can run Negative Firm 2 on maximum at 60FPS, Crysis at medium at 60FPS, and STALKER at 50FPS on medium with max draw distance. In these contemporary days of console ports, processors will be needed a lot a lot more for powering games. AMD also supplies some overclocking software program for this processor specifically, though it's incredibly uncomplicated (and preferred) to do over the BIOS. Stock heatsink is not of very great excellent. Pick up a new one for around ฮ. This is the only reason it gets a fourǛ. I purchased this processor when it was 赼.Upgraded from an Athlon II x2 5200+.

Quickly, overclockable, 6MB L3 Very extremely hot and the stock heatsink is noisy. I was lucky enough to have an old heatsink/fan laying about from my Athlon64 3500+, so right after a lot thinking (very hard to do with the aircraft landing strip sounding heatsink blasting in my ear) I decided to remove the stock fan and place the older 9 blade fan from the athlon64 heatsink in its location. Significantly far better. Someone has to fix this, its just not right. It's a wonderful heatsink, probably one of the finest stock heatsinks I've ever seen, but it has the worst fan I have ever heard.

So I get residence from a poor day at function and I had a neatly packaged newegg box on my stoop. I began to sweat. I utilised my keys to open the package and busted by means of the packing peanuts to find a small black box of wonder. I proceeded to open the box and stared at this gorgeous piece of technologies. After my hands stopped shaking I took it out of the plastic package and neatly placed it in its new household in the msi 770 g45. I started out my machine. It rayped. Immediately after going into the bios and overclocking it to three.6ghz it ran smoothly and at 35 degrees C. (Have an following market heat sink.) I love this CPU and would highly advise this. did not unlock an added core. :( AMD is the way to go, intel is for noobs

More affordable than the x6's.....Overclocked it to four.03 as soon as I got it and it's been running smooth since. Gets a 7.five in the windows scoring. =D None so far. I was kinda bummed that I didn't get the 6 core at very first, but soon after I installed it my doubts went out the window. It's genuinely quickly and runs cool even at four ghz.

Easy to overclock.Rapid for the price tag.Comes with cooling fan.Stayed at about 34-36c although operating Black-Ops out of the box. Fan can be a tiny loud but nothing also significant.Other than that no troubles. I had an old AMD Athlon II duel core at two.5GHz and would generally have visual lag from even the smallest plan operating in the background. I could not alt-tab out of Black-Ops without it crashing. It just didn't have the power to handle what I required it to do. Now I have no troubles at all. It runs like a dream.

This is a great CPU that does every little thing i require it to do and then some. I haven't tried gaming on with this CPU but of what i hear its going to be good when i do. None at all. its no i7 This is a excellent CPU that practically triple my efficiency from my old CPU. I utilized to have a old intel dual core which applied to render my ten minute videos in just about 2 hours this CPU renders those videos in about 30. That's a wonderful improvement in my opinion.
