Low cost Showed up. Place it in. Refused to open not even with the small manual opening hole. Lastly got it to open (only the moment) and it trashed my disk. Massive rings and deep scratches. It is now unreadable. The RMA shipping fee is nearly half of how much the dang issue expenses. Will change when the new a single shows up. I have owned many lite-on drives and have been really happy with all of them. This drive is does burn properly so far but no more rapidly than other individuals I have owned. Nonetheless, the read speed on this drive has maxed out to five.6x. Previous pata drives I had from them would max out at about 14-15x. I consider I could have gotten a dud. Even with the alol version firmware update, I have seen no improvement. I would have expected a lot more from an sata drive even though it is an inexpensive 1. I gave it three eggs for the reading problem but might alter it if they rectify the situation. I have only tried a couple of discs that I know had better read speeds on my old drives and will attempt some other people to see if there is any distinction. quite standard burner only complaint was right after the initial 3 weeks the DVD tray refused to extend outward and would stay closed unless I hit the front a handful of occasions with my hand. Clearly the tray alignment is off. Quite annoying but not a deal breaker.

Works excellent and cheap. none I burn perhaps five - ten DVD's a month. So it is economical for me to purchase a low cost one particular. A person burning five+ a day may well want to look at purchasing a moderately priced one particular that will last a though. Although the drive is loud, it does what it needs to. I bought it for my first build, which was on a budget. I would have rather spent the money on mobo, ssd, etc than the extra dough on a dvd reader/ writer. But needless to say, I got this one and with the exception of the 'revving' it does it's job well enough!
