Great product, reasonable price

Unit worked well straight out of the box. I use the drive to backup DVDs and this drive cut my backup copy time from over an hour to around twelve minutes. |

Cons:
Nothing special in terms of noise, burn speed, or disc compatibility.
Pros: Solid DVD+/-R DL drive for the money. Comment:
I've had bad experiences with Lite-On CD burners in the past, but decided to buy one of these during an NCIX sale. It works fine, and has read all of my burned discs no problem. Like most new DVD burners, this one is VERY light, which is both a pro and a con. Pro is it makes the system lighter, con is you can tell that they're using cheaper materials inside (plastic and cheap metals everywhere, instead of some steel and glass). |

Great Product!

This Drive supports Read-Write of all the most commonly used format CD's and DVD's including DVD Dual Layer. It is a Great value for the very low price. It is relatively quiet, burns CD's and DVD's fast and accurately, and plays Commercial DVD Movies without error. I have this Drive connected to the Primary IDE channel via an SATA Converter. The computer recognizes it as DVD-RAM, which it is, and it boots quite well to CD and DVD. There have been NO speed reductions and NO Read-Write errors. I would recommend this drive to anyone wanting a good drive at a reasonable price! |

No Credible Customer support

I spent a week trying to resolve an issue where my computer would only recognize this as a ROM drive and not a RAM drive. Customer support was lacking. Not having a reasonable command of the English language aside, all I got from their daily replies is that I should go through the trouble-shooting guides which I had already done several times. I finally checked it on another computer, where it worked, and I put the other computers drive into the original computer. So if you only have one computer, I'd pass on this gem. |

This unit seems to have Trouble with Dual layer dvd burns. I seem to have alot of defective dual layer burns. It could be the brand of dvds I use, but I just don't think thats the problem. It burns reg. 4.7 dvds without issues. It could just be a defective unit. I used it with a fresh install of Windows 7, so I don't think its a software issue. I would not let that stop me from buying Lite-on Products. They make great stuff
