Wired and wirelessSturdy signalSimple to install and set upRapid connections None as of however This is my first wireless router and I can't beleive I didn't get a wireless network set up earlier. This was very effortless to set up, do to the step-by-step install guide that come on the cd. I have a single computer, an XBOX 360, and 2 iPhones that use this at property and all of them have outstanding connection speeds, even even though it's installed on 1 side of the house and we are on the other. Streaming motion pictures to the XBOX for netflix is quick and doesn't have any moments of buffering. Couldn't be happier with the obtain.

What's not to like? Good solid efficiency teamed with my Motorola SB6 120 cable modem. (even even though the residence is wired with RG-59) Leaves my old Netgear router in the dust. Setup was simplicity, itself. Can't consider of any. As usually, Newegg's ordering and shipping service are with no blemish. Placed the order Friday afternoon and had the router in my hands Monday.

Compatible with DD-WRT. I have 3 of these and lastly have a good signal everywhere in my house. It is an old house that speedily dampens wifi signals. One particular primary router and two in repeater mode give me robust coverage. No reboots - I just set them up once and never have to mess with them. Great! Older, slower wifi standard. But of course I knew this when I purchased. And I use ethernet when streaming films from my HTPCs, so I don't need the extra speed anyway!

It works, installation took three minutes. It tends to make you really feel stupid since the instructions are developed so that even a person who utilizes their CD-ROM as a cup holder could install it.

Superb router, effortless setup, large form dissipates heat superior than Linksys slim models. ๠? The most I've had to spend is ์, even though this item is likely worth ๠. I've purchased 3 of these routers, and the oldest one particular I own is virtually four years old (WRT54G) with no difficulties. I have two myself, and the third I purchased for a family member.Newer styles are flawed, and with semi-sufficient airflow the smaller routers can overheat. I hope Linksys keeps creating the WRT54GL style routers for a long time, especially if they can add 802.11n functionality.

The third celebration selections for this router is awesome. My preference is tomato. Incredibly stable router. I have three of these, and they all perform good! Absolutely nothing other than the upcoming N routers that are now taking away the glory of this router. The Asus N16 will far more than most likely be the subsequent third celebration router of selection. G routers will see their end within a couple of years. If I required a 4th one particular, i would get the Asus N16. This is an Amazing router, their is nothing incorrect with it. However as technologies adjustments so does the merchandise. If one just wants a router to do function, this is the a single you want(with 3rd celebration firmware). If you do high speed transfers and want more future flexibility, I would seriously look at the Asus N16.

Replaced a shoddy Zyzel router with this. It has been super trustworthy and was really uncomplicated to setup. Appears sort of slow today, but I assume that is simply because I am still utilizing G, not any fault of the router itself. Going to have to upgrade to N soon.

I've had 3 of these, 1 died only to lighing, the other two are still rocking away est 4yrs old now. Still like them greater then the "new" design devoid of the antennas. Would advocate if your hunting for a wireless g router.

With DD-WRT software (not included but free for the download) you get great flexibility and functionality. If you have an unusual want, this is almost certainly what you will need. With the fantastic flexibility and functionality of DD-WRT comes a lot of configuration options that interact with one another. That can make it difficult to get the configuration right. You need to be capable to chase down technical details, realize it and adhere to instructions. There is a lot of long documentation pages on the internet. You will want to read and comprehend it, not skim it and press forward. However, you also get a excellent education in the course of action. I replaced my broadband cable with cellular backhaul to the Online. I employed the Verizon MiFi 2200 which has no Ethernet connection. My old network had mixed wired and wireless LAN. I bought the WRT54GL to wirelessly connect to the MiFi and present a wired connection to where the broadband employed to hook up. That way I could continue to use my old network as is for each wired and wireless and backhaul to the World wide web by cellular. It took a lot more reading and hunting than expected and a handful of tries to choose which wirless mode to use. I settled on client mode and the DD-WRT generic mini download (by the way there are quite a few of these at several version numbers hence some of the research to see what to use). It took about 3 tries to get the configuration right but it is up and running and performs just as it should. If you get upset at trial and error or at extended documentation or at researching which configuration will do the job, this router is not for you. It was entertaining for me.

Based on other evaluations, I bought this, and I think it's fantastic. Having this keeps my wife quiet on her laptop in the other space....you can't spend for that sort of peace. The software program that comes with it was unable to get it began the very first time.....leading to a call to the help group. The assistance team was excellent! They have been friendly and capable.....they helped me get it operating, what a lot more can I ask for.....that said, seriously, who are they trying to fool.....nobody beneath the age of 80 is named Helen more than right here!

-Properly priced-Excellent wireless range-Decent menu and settings -Not really any worth mentioning It does what it is supposed to, as advertised. I have by no means had concerns with it in the time I have owned it. Wireless range is pretty good. I have it in an upstairs bedroom, and I can go outdoors in the back yard 𞳸ft away and still have pretty decent signal strength. It just performs. 10x much better than my old junk Belkin that would constantly give me concerns. Of course Cisco makes great solutions.

Cons:Price, G only, 100Mb LAN only. Outdated hardware.

Pros:Stable, handle high number connections once you load Tomato or DD-WRT on it.
Comment:
Owned this for over four years now, still going strong. Gone from my main router to a wireless client to leech neighbours wireless to a wireless G range extender. Still in use but recently bought 2 new routers so I'll probably retiring this soon. Figured I should give it a review. I've only loaded Tomato on it over the past few years. It handled a high number of concurrent connections (when you use BT) but with recent changes to Tomato mods to include IP Bandwidth monitor, the 54GL hardware is showing it's age. It simply cannot keep up. I wouldn't buy this new; if you badly want a router or wireless G range extender and can find a used one for cheap, then this device may be a viable option. Otherwise, go for one of N routers.

I have had this supplying online for my xbox 360 for more than a year now. I have it set to obtain the wifi from my uverse router and send it by wire to the 360. I believe I have DD-WRT installed to have that function. It gets a superior and additional dependable signal than anything at all else in the home. I can watch Netflix in HD on just a three mbps wifi connection with other people surfing the net at the same time. The stock firmware is useless. Install DD-WRT or tomato to unlock full functionality.

Rapidly Connection Speed Wireless cuts out consistently This isn't from interference. I ensured there was no other signal interfering and but the signal cuts out just about every 20-30 seconds, and my computer system is in the identical room as the router! Maybe I got a lemon, but it positive is frustrating.

This router was incredibly simple to set up, each for wired and wireless, except for a single glitch (See Cons). The Setup program on the supplied CD leads you by means of the setup actions extremely clearly and completely. It's been running now for two days at 100Mb/sec with no complications. I'll be a lot more impressed if I can say that immediately after 6 months, but for now it's performing excellent. It's quicker than my old router, which had deteriorated so that it couldn't run more rapidly than 10Mb/sec. I'm completely happy with the supplied WD firmware. I suppose if I had a more elaborate network I may possibly be interested in Tomato or similar firmware, but I believe the as-delivered firmware really should be very adequate for most users. I ran the supplied CD, followed the on-screen instructions, and presto! the router was appropriately configured ...nearly. I had to manually appear at the setup parameters through 192.168.1.1 and disable UPnP, which was on by default. Luckily, I had run into this problem on a prior router and knew that my setup doesn't know what to do with UPnP. I suppose this is a Con only if you can't use UPnP.

Quite compatible with Tomato and DD-WRT firmware.Last a very long time. The one particular that I'm making use of is over 5 years old. None If you're searching for a "work horse" of a router, don't mind the lack of N-router speeds, and that very easily accepts third party firmware this is the router for you. The current firmware is o.k. and is perfect for novices who are just hunting for a decent router. For "experts", the third party firmware turns this point into powerhouse by escalating signal strength, allowing you to use it as a repeater or a bridge, simplifies the installation procedure, increases stability and offers you sufficient settings to tweak to your hearts content material.
