Excellent Product
Comment:
Received it in 2 days and installation was a snap!!! I recommend not using the CD that comes with it. Will only make it worse. Just plug n play and upgraded the firmware from linkys website and I was up and running in no time. Router is downstairs and my laptop upstairs picks up an excellent signal. All 5 bars!!! Will definitely buy linksys routers from now on.

Cons:None comes to mind

Pros:LinuxReliable
Comment:
Just gonna keep this review short and simple. This router is a solid performer, simply by flashing this router with Tomato, I found the interface a lot easier to use as oppose to the original firmware on the router.I recommend this product to anyone whom is seeking a router which does not require draft N.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:-not very pretty..

Pros:-can install 3rd party firmware-good wifi connection-works very well with my voip phone
Comment:
After reading all the great reviews for this product, I decided to purchase it. I flashed it with tomato firmware and had no problems with it so far. My voip phone always had a background static sound and was very hard for the other person to hear (I always thought this was because of the voip company's fault). But actually, after upgrading to this router, my voip phone is clear and the other person can actually hear me.

Works Great
Comment:
Had a small problem getting it going, but I called Linksys and they where more than helpful. This is the first wireless router that I have owned and if something happens to this one the next one will be a Linksys.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:Does not support wireless N

Pros:Supported by a wide variety of 3rd party firmware (DD-WRT, Tomato, etc)
Comment:
I bought one of these a about a month ago and flashed it to tomato. It was good for about 3 hours and then died (the lights were blinking indicating a firmware problem). I tried all kinds of methods listed online including connecting a serial port and eventually connecting a jtag cable with no success (it jtagged fine but was still dead). I guess that one was a dud. I just got a new one about 2 weeks ago and flashed it to DD-WRT and it has been running perfectly ever since. No random reboots, no connecting dropping and a nice strong wireless signal. A very nice router as long as you don't get a dud (or mess up flashing the firmware).

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:-None

Pros:-good price when on sale-reliable-upgradeable to 3rd party firmware
Comment:
Very good router that is priced decently. Upgrading to dd-wrt or Tomato firmware provides many more options which can be very useful. Range is very good and can also be increased using 3rd party firmware.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:No N support.

Pros:Huge community support. Third-party firmwares
Comment:
Bought it based on the multiples reviews here and around the web. Works great! After trying the official firmware. I installed a new build of DD-WRT (the install process is freaking but it went well.). Amazing set of features! Then I installed for the kick the Lean-Mean Tomato firmware 1.25 : I love it! This firmware is fast (3-3.2 MB/sec)and the GUI is intuitive. I like the real-time monitoring.

Comment:
Received this the day after I ordered it with express shipping. I've ordered one before and again used the DD-WRT. Worked flawlessly. Have had no problems since. If you are not in need of wireless-N, then I highly recommend this router with 3rd party firmware.

This is the Linux running version. It has a decent coverage through the house but can be slow when you use lots of apps that require network traffic.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:For Gigabit and Wireless N, try the 310N version.

Pros:Installed DD-WRT and it works like a charm, enough RAM space to install the full out version, although the micro-DD-WRT is fine as well
Comment:
Buy this if you need a cheap bridge! I bought this for about $50 after shipping, really good deal if you can't find this in retail stores anymore since it has been phased out

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:Not gigabit

Pros:Everything but its physical appearance
Comment:
Got this to replace an old Trendnet wireless router that couldn't even transfer files over wlan. I would recommend anyone looking into getting a new router to get this one if they're fine with g and 10/100 (not going for n or gigabit). Slapping on tomato was a breeze despite my worries (took 5 minutes in total), though that probably wasn't even necessary for someone like me since I found the default firmware pretty decent before putting tomato on it.

Excellent Coverage Area
Comment:
I have purchased 3 Linksys WRT54GL routers and they are installed outside in the common areas of our condo's and they provide wireless access for 50 homes. This router is the only one that advertises "outside coverage area". This is THE best router I have found - and I have gone through 3 other routers.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Comment:
I was delighted with this Linksys product. I had had a Linksys WRT54G router/switch/wireless access point for two years when it ''died''. On May 20(2009), I ordered a replacement Linksys WRT54GL and it arrived on my front doorstep via UPS on May 27. I set it up and got it running in short order. This unit apparently uses Linux, but I have never bothered to ''break in'' on that part of its software(or firmware?). I just use the built-in webpages to configure as I would have on the older WRT54G and I have no complaints. At the risk of seeming a little smug, I often read of people getting in all sorts of trouble with viruses, worms and various other types of malware and over the past few years, but between Trend Micro's Internet Security and my succession of Linksys routers, I've been well protected from these threats.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:doesn't have gigabit lan ports

Pros:easy to setup, and works with third-party firmware
Comment:
I bought this because it was highly recommended and you can flash it to Tomato and other third-party firmware. I only wish it had gigabit lan ports instead of 100mb, otherwise, it’s great.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:none

Pros:Ability to put 3rd party firmware on itSolid Construction
Comment:
The infamous 54GL for those people who don't want to use one of the crippled 54G that linksys has been putting out lately. Really the only reason you'd want to get this over a 54G is for putting a 3rd party firmware on it like DD-WRT or Tomato. If you just need a wifi router without that just get the 54G. It's an excellent router that in my opinion can't be beat for power at this cost.

Pros:By far the best Linksys Router!ON SALE!!!
Comment:
I was moving and needed to purchase a new router for my new place since I left my old one behind for my little sister...Wow what a difference, I'm glad my friend recommended it to me or else I would've bought those pricey new fancy UFO routers.Installed Tomato firmware and I'm set! I find the router to be very consistent whereas my old school WRT54G v.X was crappy until you did certain tweaks on it to prevent connection drops when other people access the network.GREAT PRODUCT!

Cons:None yet.

Pros:Great router, it was working out of the box and i flashed it with Victek's Tomato Firmware right away, and its amazing. Loaded with features, constant signal.
Comment:
My old 6 yr old netgear router kept giving me problems with high bandwith programs like BT, the router would just shutdown when struck with many connections. The wrt54gl worked so far and hasnt dropped a connection yet! Great product, although its only 54mbps wifi G, if you arent using these for home networking and file sharing and strictly for internet use, this router is one of the best!
