Strong device so far and counting. I've owned this for a year , no glitch , no drops. Speed has often held continuous. The only time we've reset the device was due to the DSL. None so far. It would be good if it could push via the home much more. We have it in a properly ventilated area and just about in the middle of the residence. It covers about 70% of the residence.

For the price it's a very good router, but what makes it great is the linux firmware help. Add dd-wrt, and you've got a highly stable and scalable router, fantastic for smaller to medium sized networks. I use them when I need further vlans, many lans on a single router, waps, bridges, etc... OJ

Comment:
The router itself is light, requires up significantly less space than a rack-mounted router and produces a fantastic continuous signal. If you virtually brick it with DD-WRT there are other techniques to get into it (TFTP) devoid of requiring an HTML connection to the router. It's a fairly purple, so it will go with that nice purse you've had hanging in the closet. For a month I've not had to reset it simply because of a glitch or failure. The only way to get some of the capabilities regular on other routers is to flash it with DD-WRT. There are fairly a couple of dangers related with adding an open firmware to a router if you don't know what you're doing. You could possibly render it lifeless or worse make it into a nice gateway for script kiddies to get into your network and develop a bot net. When you flash it (because you'll have to in order to get true router functionality) make confident that you pull the router builds from the DD-WRT web site. Otherwise you may get a version with a backdoor at which point an individual can walk all more than your network from across the globe as if they are sitting subsequent to you.Am sort of displeased with the router selections accessible overall for use on something less than an enterprise network. For me, this router replaced a D-Link DIR 625 that was requiring a day-to-day reset in order to use the Wi-Fi.

I've owned this router for about 4 years now. I have never had a single challenge with it. I have never had to reboot / power cycle it due to a difficulty with the router. My wife's laptop has max signal strength bars all about our 1600 sq ft property.I basically cannot say adequate excellent stuff about this router. I am nevertheless operating the stock firmware that it came with (the linksys firmware - although it appears like this distinct version newegg is promoting is not pre-loaded...). I've been which means for years to switch it over to Tomato (or an additional router firmware release) but have by no means had a sturdy explanation to. I picture I sooner or later will some day on the other hand. None. This is the most trusted piece of hardware I have owned to date. Just remarkable. Why do you believe this is the ş router for _years_? I want Linksys would release a N version of this router. I would get it in a heart beat. But to be sincere, I have no genuine will need for a N router. 802.11 G is plenty rapid.802.11 G has a theoretical throughput of 54 Mbps. Note the small 'b' suggests bits. Big 'B' implies Bytes.54 * tenβ = 54,000,000 bits per second (Mbps). 54,000,000 / 8 = 6,750,000 Bytes per second.6,750,000 / 1024 = .80 KiloBytes per second (KBps).Which is 6.591 MegaBytes per second (MBps). This is quite fast and only really kills you when transferring huge files across the network. As far as everyday net browsing, or streaming media by means of netflix, hulu or youtube... umm yeah - no troubles whatsoever. Most likely a majority of these on high speed internet can't download any faster than around 900 Kbps = .9 MBps. So the outcome: upgrading to a N router will not strengthen your speed when browsing the online! This router rocks!

* Uncomplicated to setup* Uncomplicated to flash to DD-WRT (micro-image due to the fact the Nand flash is only 4mb)* Newegg is wicked fast with shipping, as usual. None that I can believe of, except for the smaller amount of onboard ram and possibly the occasional dropped connection. Occurred like 2 occasions in streaming numerous hours of HD via Netflix. Set this up as a repeater bridge (with DD-WRT) with my old WRT54G, ver. eight. Turns out wpa2 didn't operate on this (or possibly my original WRT) for this wireless bridging mode. Once I got it rolling though, its been phenomenal.

Cons:No cons here for me with this one

Pros:Has worked non-stop for more years than I can remember. It apparently works better than the WRT54G.

I Have owned one of these for more years than I can remember. Maybe 6 years, I'm not quite sure. I'm amazed to see that the exact same model is still for sale. I remember the exact model name because I've heard many good things about this router (it was the reason I bought it to begin with).Rest assured that this is definitely a quality product. There's not a lot to say. It's just always worked. I've never used any of the advanced settings, but it was easy enough to go in and change the settings when I switched from cable to DSL to cable and back to a DSL provider again over the years.

Linksys created by CISCO....what else is there to say! NONE Linksys by CISCO is the Ideal. Use a CISCO switch with this router and you are set. No problems whatsoever; smooth and difficulty no cost network enviroement. Linksys goods leaves the competitors behind. I have been in the IT field for more than 15 years and have come to rely on CISCO products; will NOT use any other brand name; they just only do not have the high quality and reliability of CISCO items.

The value is decent for this router. This router can run DD-WRT computer software. Factory range is not very very good. You have to replace the firmware in order to bump up the signal power. By doing that, you most probably reduce the life. I ran each the factory firmware for a whilst and DD-WRT firmware for a while. In each configurations I had connection challenges where the router would just drop connections for no apparent reason. The router ultimately bricked and is a nice blue and black paper weight at this point. The ONLY cause men and women like this router is due to the fact of the DD-WRT computer software. I don't fully grasp why men and women give any device higher marks when you have to hack it, straight out of the box, in order to get it to execute. I would not suggest this router to everyone.

OK, there may well be a few issues, but you would have to spend a LOT far more funds to uncover a router/WAP that can do what this one can. I'm operating DD-WRT firmware on it & am impressed with all of the stuff that I can configure. Newegg place it on sale for ŭ less just a couple of days after I purchased it :(

Operating the latest version of Tomato, this unit is substantially much more stable than my prior router (WBR-2310). Has yet to bog down beneath reasonably hefty load, in my case gaming although the girlfriend streams huge amounts of Netflix in the residing room. Had Tomato installed and running with all of one particular mouse click. No 802.11n or Gigabit funcionality, but for the price tag and stability, I won't complain as well much. I didn't even bother making use of the stock firmware, so this evaluation doesn't apply there. Granted, the point of this router is easy installation of third-celebration firmwares, so I'm confident you'll get over it.
