Cons:always disconnect Cheap looking

Pros:NothingCan't find any
Comment:
This is my second router. It is a piece of S***. It makes me angry. It disconnected me almost every 1 min. I did solve the problems. At last, I bought my DIR-615. IT SHOULD BE 0/5

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:More expensive than other "g" routers

Pros:Firmware upgradeable with 3rd party Linux firmwareStableGood rangeExternal, positionable antennas
Comment:
This replaced an old WRT54G v4 which had been in operation continuously for about 6 years. The v4 is identical to this "L" version.(The old router suddenly started working flawlessly again.)I immediately installed DD-WRT on it. This makes the router very stable and adds many, many more features and configuration options. With the stock Linksys firmware, it has about the same functionality as most "g" routers. But it does have good range, it's more stable and has external, positionable antennas which are getting hard to find these days. It's the addition of 3rd party firmware that makes this router one of the most powerful and configurable on the market. For example, DD-WRT adds the possibility of multiple SSIDs - essentially, separate, multiple private wireless networks all from this one router. You won't find this and many other features from the default firmware in almost all other consumer routers.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:Broke after 8 monthsLinksys' tech support is a pain to deal with

Pros:Good stable router if you throw Tomato or other 3rd party firmware
Comment:
I've purchased this device in September of 2009 and has been working flawlessly ever since. A few days ago the wifi chip in it died and had to call linksys in India, the rep spent 2h flashing the firmware 5 times and asking me to keep modem and router unplugged from power for 5 min each time he wanted me to grab a new ip address. He gave up after i told him i had to go to work and that i don't how will it help by flashing the firmware more than 3 times.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:None

Pros:Solid stabilityNever have to reboot.
Comment:
Updated to Tomato firmware the minute I bought this router. After that its been solid ever since, never had to reboot it. Unfortunately was hoping to never reboot it to see how long it would last without one due to an accidental power off on power bar :(. Other than that internet speeds never slowed down, will be looking into a pfsense solution when I build a file/media server.

Cons:wireless G, wireless N would be nice

This would be my second WRT54GL and loaded with DDWRT.Reliability and functionality is absolutely awesome. The only weakness I can think of is the lack of wireless N.

very flexible
Comment:
These are just as good as the newer models and much more versatile. I use seven of these routers as repeaters to network a LAN grid with about a half mile radius. I use third party firmware and antennas. I also use them as standard routers. They are also durable. I wrap them in a plastic bag and duct tape or stuff them in a rubber made box and they withstand 0 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit weather. One fell from 7 meters in a wind storm. The antenna and rubber made box were crushed, but the router still works. If you don't plan to use the 3rd part firmware, the router also works great out of the box and is easy to set up.

Cons:wireless G and 10/100

Pros:the most mod-able router this side of a *nix box
Comment:
the wrt54G series is the best router out there if you want more control. the ability to load on custom firmware is something very few companies allow, as it can cause a support nightmare. this router combine with the custom firmwares available make it a very powerful box.

Third one crapped out...
Comment:
I have now lost a total of three of these Routers over a period of 3 years. Stupidly, it has taken me this long to notice a pattern. Ironically, all my Net Gear equipment is working quietly and reliably... I will now switch future replacements to them.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:-Not Gigabit-Included ethernet cable is pretty crappy-Stock firmware is pretty bare on options

Pros:-Cheap-Solid construction-Respectable Range-Good power cord length-Can be flashed with 3rd party firmware
Comment:
I've purchased this as an interim solution for my network, needed something which could provide wireless for the wife's DS right now, but could also easily serve as an access point down the road. Fit the bill perfectly once it was flashed with 3rd party firmware. The RJ45 jacks are snug with your cables, compared to some other routers I've used in the past which held them somewhat loosely. The included power cord has a nice length on it, however the ethernet cable is flimsy and looks like a tossed in afterthought. There's a respectable range in regards to wireless which was nice to see, although gigabit would be nice, this was of course created before it was really a standard. If you're leaving it stock, the router isn't worth it, however should you be willing to take 30 seconds to put something such as Tomato or DD-WRT onto it, you're going to love this device.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:no gigabit portsno wireless N

Pros:Flashable firmwareVery stable
Comment:
I have been very happy with this router. The major strength is the ability to flash with a custom firmware (wrt/tomato). These increase the stability, and expand the capabilities allowing you to turn into a wireless client/wireless ethernet bridge/repeater etc. Bandwidth monitoring with tomato is great to make sure you dont go over your monthly data usage. Even though this product has been out for awhile now, I would definitely purchase again. If you absolutely need wireless N or gigabit ports, buy the devices and hook them up. If your a tecky, youll love this product.

Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port Wireless G Broadband Router Linux Version 54MBPS 802.11G 802.11B
Cons:None

Pros:-Works great as a wired router (I don't use the wireless functions).-Very stable and fast connection-Has built in memory.
Comment:
I didn't need a wireless router so can't coment on its wireless functionality but I got this because I had trouble with my VOIP device messing up my connection with constant disconnects and throttling my download speeds. I got the WRT54GL and love it. I can hook my computer and VOIP device up to it and my speeds are great and I haven't been disconnected from the net once since plugging it in last week. Works like a charm. I put the "Tomato" firmware on it which works really well and is very easy to install.Great router. Highly recommended.
