Great little Hdd Box.
Comment:
The Sabrent EC-UEIS7 surpassed my expectations on build quality. There is not a lot of extra space in it. The drive fits tight. The Lights come on while using USB, but do not come on during E-Sata Use. WHO CARES, it works. The Four phillips head screws hold the top cover and 4 at the bottom. Comes with extra Accessories. This is defiantly a Plus. Fan Runs as long as the unit is plugged in.

This is a great unit
Comment:
I used this to retrieve data from both an IDE drive and a SATA drive and it performed flawlessly. It is a little cramped for older IDE drives, but I just left the top off and it worked great. The SATA drives fit with no problems and that is what I left in it to use everyday. You will be pleased with this product.

This thing works great
Comment:
This drive case is built tuff and I cant even hear the fan. Im using a SATA drive on an old IDE system and when I upgrade I can still use this 1.5TB drive as an eSATA.

Worked
Comment:
A 3.5" drive does not fit inside the enclosure but I just used it to back up data on a crashed drive. It worked perfectly and was just plug and play with XP. EIDE to USB connection.

Gets the job done
Comment:
This is a nice unit, it gets the job done. But there was no power connector for a SATA hard drive in the box. There is not a lot of space in the unit, so you may have to wrestle to get a drive installed.

Excellent Quality and quiet
Comment:
I have purchased two of these drives in the last 6 months. It is solid and quiet while keeping the HD very cool. I deal with large volume and expensive data so fast transfer and quality is a must. 1GB Seagate fits snugly but well. Instructions non-existant.

The Worlds Most Confusing Enclosure ?
Comment:
Kudos for fast shipping. I ordered this on 7-2-09, I got it on 7-3-09 ! Before I chose this enclosure, I did read the reviews, and my previous experience with Sabrent led me to believe that the concerns addressed were valid. I have had previous units by this company, and all have died, or malfunctioned in some form or fashion. But I was desparate. My SimpleTech 1 TB external was malfunctioning, and it had 384 gigs of music on it (I am a Dj). So I needed a better ''HDD'', opposed to a better ''ENCLOSURE''. So I purchased a 750 GIG SATA Seagate for that endeavor. I have quite a bit of experience assembling these things, and this one by far was more challenging. The instructions are limited, and utterly useless. I have a few pointers - If you are installing a SATA drive, remove the IDE default connectors first, they only get in your way. Also IMO, it is better to attach the SATA connectors on first. Oh, don't forget to secure your drive with the screws.

Great price and fast shipping
Comment:
I have 2 hard drives from old computer that I wanted to use for storing pictures and music. Installation was easy. I also like the fan to helps keep the drives cool. I'm going to order one more for a drive that I have in a different enclosure. The only thing I can find fault with is the instructions, but if you can take out a hard drive from an old computer, you should not have any trouble doing the installation.

A Perfect Enclosoure except.........
Comment:
Pros: It's easy to install the hard drive,(if you already know how) esata works fast and reliably. It comes with a huge fan. Cons: The manual is poorly written. The Instructions to install the hard drive say 1. open enclosure 2. connect cables. 3. close enclosure. With no picture or diagram. That much, I already knew. The cool blue LEDs do not work when a esata cable is connected. They will work with usb connected or no data cable connnected, but plug in an esata cable, and it's lights out. The "on edge" base stand that comes with it is cheap plastic and does not grip the unit well. If you want to lay it down on its side... the fan grill is not recessed so when you lay the unit down on that side (which you must do to install the hard drive) it wobbles as you try to screw the screws. You can lay it down on the other side but then the control markings are up side down. Irritating, poor design, but I can live with it.

USB works great
Comment:
I have no plans to try eSata, but the USB works great. No complaints, performs as advertised, looks cool too. Blue LEDs are a nice touch.

Not too shabby
Comment:
Great enclosure. Very strong and sturdy, metal feels strong. Easy to put together. The one thing I have to complain about is the manual. Seriously, I think the CEO of Sabrent got his 5-year old son to write the manual. It seemed pretty silly. I was scared to even use it after reading the manual. But whatever, it's all good.

SABRENT EC-UEIS7 External Enclosure
Comment:
PROS: The design for this enclosure if awesome, it's almost perfect. The Big fan keeps running all the time to keep the hard drive as cool as possible. Can't complaint about the spacing inside the enclosure, the hard drive fits nicely in. CONS: USB wasn't working whatsoever, no matter how many times I plugged and unplugged the damn thing to my computer, it just wouldn't load the drivers. I rebooted my computer many times and NO miracles happened. The eSATA connection didn't work either, I literary had to wait half a month for this freaking thing to work. For some unknown reason, after waiting almost a moth to get this thing to work, Windows XP Pro was finally able to load the drivers for this thing. However, every time I plug the eSATA cable to my computer, since it was the only connection working, Windows seemed to choke for almost ten seconds before detecting the eSATA. I'm returning this, since I don't know when it's going to die on me.

SABRENT EC-UEIS7 External Enclosure
Comment:
The product seems to deliver the feature/functionality that it claims to provide. Definitely a gold star there. I abhor a product that misrepresents itself or its capabilities. At the ripe old age of 1-hour, id give this unit 5 across the board except for one thing. Apparently in the useless documentation, nowhere does it let the user know that there are no power lights at all when running in eSATA mode. I put everything together, plugged it in and thought I had a dead unit. The WD drive was good, Id just taken it out of another unit. I switched it to connect via USB and Poof! Power lights. Thoroughly convinced I had a DOA unit; I went to Tigers site and looked at other reviews. Low and beyond, someone else was beating Sabrent up for not providing any indication that the unit was breathing when hooked up eSATA. In my case, this almost caused a return. Ill pay a few bucks more to have the power indicators to be Blue for USB and Yellow for eSATA. Just let me know.

I was able to save my old hard drive and use it as backup for my current system. It was very hard to find something compatible for a PATA hard drive. This product is completely compatible. It works like a charm.

SABRENT EC-UEIS7 External Enclosure
Comment:
Unit has been online for roughly 2 weeks and USB connection works well. Cannot get eSATA to work at all. Otherwise enclosure is great. Fan is very quiet and keeps your drive very cool to the touch, unlike some others we seem like they might flame out. One drawback is that the fan is not switched off when the unit is powered down. Not an issue if all your gear is on a pwr bar.

SABRENT EC-UEIS7 External Enclosure
Comment:
Build like a tank, looks like a tank. Works okay. When I got it, the unit was missing a SATA power cable, so I made my own. The fan is whisper quiet! BUT it is on all the time, that's because the +12V is on all the time (jumper at the switch) so the unit is feeding 12V into your drive all the time. Everything works great in USB mode, tested with both IDE and SATA drives. In eSATA mode, the front LED turns off to let you know that it is on eSATA, I would like to see some flashing so I know the drive is working. The instruction is totally useless!

Comment:
I am very impressed with my enclosure. It is solidly built (not like the other flimsy products)and looks good too. Installing the hardware was a piece of cake and Vista picked it up right away. Oh and by the way, you can't here the fan which to me is a plus. I highly recommend this enclosure above all the rest.
