SABRENT EC-UEIS7 External Enclosure

I found this realtively easy to open, althought the side panels took a little more persuasion than necessary. The rest of the install was easy and it works just fine.

No problems - It works as described, but the screw driver that comes with it is not the right size! That's kind of silly.

Hard drive installation was relatively simple, even with SATA. After approximately 2 weeks, the fan began making noise and the unit failed. The LED's on the enclosure failed to illuminate and the fan made such a loud noise that I had to stop using the unit. The fan appears to be a poor quality unit. Passive cooling might be a better way to go.

bought one and could not get the eSATA to work. returned it and got a replacement, same thing!! called Sabrent customer service, they said they'd call me back with someone that can help. no call!! returned it and bought a Nexstar 3, works perfectly. must have got a bad batch??

No problems with this works as advertised. Like others have said throw away the cheap screwdriver.

Great price works awesome. I'm not understanding why people are having problems with the ESATA it worked great for me.

After reading some of the reviews I knew what mods needed to be done when it arrived. Toss the provided screwDriver, it'll strip the screw heads. Toss the users manual, very useless. Disassemble the unit and move the fan to the outside of the long panel. The fan leads will need to be cut at the pcb and resoldered. By moving the fan to the outside it provides space to push the air flow along the drive and less stress on the fan. I'm pleased and will be ordering another for the SATA.

The first one I got didn't last two days before it quit working. Sent it back, thinking I just had a bad one & got another. The second one didn't work at all & I tried IDE & SATA HD in them both. It's a great idea to be able to use both types of drives in this enclosure, but poor quality doesn't make up for it.

all METAL. this is a nice enclosure. easy to install the drive as long as you open the ENTIRE enclosure. the fan runs VERY quiet. the maker is quick to answer questions... and i mean QUICK. i would like a little more LED action, maybe brighter LED on hard drive operation... but overall i LIKE this enclosure. the BIG drawback is the included screwdriver. it is NOT the correct size and you can very easily strip out the screws.

To say this device works on E-Sata is a joke works when it wants. On USB it works fine but if you want the E-Sata speed forget about it. Tech Support at is a joke they answer the phone

These (2) HD enclousures were the best quality that I could have expected. You can tell as soon as the cover comes that these guys know their stuff and push a great product.

The outside box showed no sign of trauma, but the fan had broken away from the body. Both the fan and most of the plastic mounts were damaged. VERY poorly made.

The enclosure is a good value. I installed an IDE drive and and of course used the USB cable. It worked without trouble. The installation instructions are vague. I set the drive jumper to cable select. Although the drive fit is snug, for fear of static build up and to ensure that everything was properly grounded, I installed the drive screws. To do that I had to remove the sides. The screwdriver that comes with the enclosure is too small for the cover screws and is likely to cause the screw heads to round out. I used a No.2 phillips screwdriver. Everything fit together just fine. The cables have to be connected before you drop the drive in place. You might also want to remove the fan side cover before installing the drive. It would probably make installation a little easier.

Purchased on Tuesday arrived (Texas) Friday. Up and running in 10 mins. Was impressed with the design and build quality. Comes with all the little connectors and power adapters for most scenarios. I was a little disappointed with the eSATA performance but concede this may be a factor of my laptop which requires a PC card to provide the eSATA connection. USB2.0 port equalled or slightly bettered the speed of a WD 1TB My Book through a firewire port 3.6GB test data transfer. Overall very happy so far and would definitely purchase another. Runs cool and quiet.

I wanted to retreive information from several harddrives, but pulling the power cord from the first hard drive, simply pulled out the wires and left the connector in the drive. I now have to go throught the hassel of getting a RA number andsend it back.

This product worked great... for 5 months. Now the power supply seems to have went bad. Beware of power supply model FLY36W-5-12R. It is garbage. I used this very rarely to back up digital pictures and such. No reason for it to have failed so soon. Now we will see if Sabrent will stand behind their warranty.

Purchased one and it work so well I purchased another one and have friends and clients purchasing more. Hands down a much better product than the FreeAgents I have had and burned up just after one year.

This enclosure is well worth the money. It's even better on sale. It has performed well with both IDE and SATA. I like the fact that it came with both usb and e-sata. I've seen enclosures that cost a lot more that don't do both drive types or offer both connections.It looks great and is very quiet with the fan running. I'll certainly buy another when the need arises.

This is by far the best hard drive enclosure I have ever owned. It stays cool after being ran for long periods of high usage. The construction of the case is superb , and the led lights are not to intrusive. I am ordering a second one for my backup hard drive.
