I had an 8 year old desktop, with the motherboard fried, my computer would not start. There were quite a few files I wanted to recover that I hadn't backed up recently. I purchased this product and it was very easy to use. Took the hard drive out of my old computer, installed it into the device, plugged it into my new computer. Acting like an external hard drive, I had instant access to all of my files. It's a great product and I'm sure considerably less expensive than employing professionals to extract my old files from my dead computer. My only criticism is the documentation had quite a few typos (as I'm sure my review has). Notwithstanding, great product, right price, easy to use, buy it.

Easy to install hard drive. Space is a little tight but once it's in, no problems. Smooth operation.

If you are looking for a way to have a great back up system this is for you, can give you up to 1TB using the SATA Hard Drive .

Product works once assembled correctly. Instructions must have been written by foreign student who failed his language classes. Purchaser must know what he or she is doing since instructions are so poor.

This product does exactly what it claims. It works with both IDE and SATA hard drives. What you don't get is a nice manual to explain how the enclosure works. You do get a leaflet that appears to be something you might find in a box of CrackerJack. However, if you're buying an external enclosure, you probably know all about it anyway. Positives: USB or eSATA external interface, IDE or SATA internal interface; quiet fan, LED drive activity indicator, small footprint, included cables. Negatives: poorly engineered layout, low quality internal connectors. Overall: This external enclosure is just what you would expect to get for the money. Excellent service from TigerDirect!

spent a few minutes trying to figure out the best way to install without breaking anything. Very tight, especially for SATA connections. Once I thought I had an idea of how to install my drive I looked in the box to find the SATA power connector had a broken wire. Called and told that I can ship back on Tiger's dime, that's cool, but they wont just send another when they receive the bad one. I will be refunded through PayPal and then I would have to reorder the item. NO THANKS! Not impressed with tigerdirect.

Product looked good and so were the reviews. However, the space inside the enclosure is not sufficient to place a 1TB WD Caviar SATA drive AND connect the data and power cables. I was able to connect the power cable, but not the data cable - if I push any harder, I was worried about damaging the drive connectors. Other than the limited space, the product itself seemed good. It had power and data cables for both IDE and SATA drives as advertised. I am going to return this and just get an open dock for my SATA drive.

I received the enclosure in good time. It was simple to connect, which was fortunate, as the instructions were not helpful. The hardware was recognized immediately. Unfortunately the drive that I wanted to retrieve information from was not readable. This is most likely due to the drive rather than the enclosure, but as a result I have little feedback to give concernine performance.

Very diappointed. I bought this item because my computer crashed and I wanted the information off the hard drive so I bought an external serial ATA hard drive case only to find out that my serial hard drive connects didn't match. So now I have a case I cant use and my information is still on the other hard drive.

trivial setup, fan is quiet, works fine with 1.5tb seagates, i feel quite confident in this product. One note: you can't use IDE drives with the eSATA feature, only USB - perhaps that's obvious to the more technically minded, but the laughable little manual doesn't really tell you...

Works as promise with a pretty simple set up. I gave it 4 stars got the features because I think that the placement of the cables (IDE) should be reversed for an easier installation. Right now they perform an 'S' to fit the HDD in the case. Short of that, worked as promised.

Item was exactly as advertise, and works great. Received hard drive enclosure very fast, and would recommend to friends. TigerDirect is dependable, and would recommend them to anyone.

This is a good enclosure. Well made, quick to set up and works exactly as described. Tis a rare thing these days. If you need an external enclosure you can't go wrong with this one.

Just arrived an hour ago. Had the drive installed in a matter of 5 mins. Nicely built enclosure and all the necessary cables. I highly recommend this product.

I think this is a great enclosure. I use it with a 2TB Hitachi drive. It was easy to put together and came with all the needed cables. It also came with a screwdriver. I had no issue with there not being enough space for the drive. The fan is quiet.

When plugging in an eSATA cable, the unit shuts down. Exchanged for replacement and new unit also failed when plugging in an eSATA cable. This case works fine when using the USB2.0 interface and I like the big quiet fan, but why buy an eSATA case if you can't use the eSATA connection? Very disappointed!!! Returned this time for a refund.

I purchased this item and it didn't work bummed to say the least.But I like the design so I am placing another order. I got a return auth. over the phone and will send this one back and place a new order. I'll post again after it arrives. The customer service is great, hopefully the next unit will be also.

Up and running five minutes after delivery.Easy to figure out,although a tight fit for old hard drive.Old computer died,and now I can access my old music quick and easily.Just what I needed.

I have had this enclosure for about 6 months. I have a 1 TB drive in it with movies on it. We use it quite regularly. The enclosure hardly warms more than room temp. it is a great enclosure. I just ordered 2 more.

I bought one of these when my computer died & I had to replace it. The new computer only had SATA drives. I then used this to input my old data. It worked so well I bought a second unit for my other drive.
