Unit could use some work that would make it better and not cost any more to produce. It works all right, but the power supply input cord requires a little muscle to get it properly seated.If you are the type of person that requires decent instructions before using something, then stay away from this one. The unit is allright, The instructions are rotten. they really tell you nothing and they are goobledy gook. Three of the 8 side screws were partially stripped when it arrived.Its best features that makes it worth the money, (1) it will take either ide or sata drives with no problem, (2) it will work both on usb and sata inputs.

The rocker switch on this was coming apart right out of the box. Half of it was popped out and had no pivot point and would not make contact. Aside of that, whoever assembled this thing stripped out the phillips head screws on the front. Maybe this is just a case of bad luck but I'm certainly not impressed with this. When it comes to parts, if you buy cheap garbage switches that's what you'll get, cheap garbage switches. Go get a switch that is mil. spec. and it will virtually last forever. Overall, regardless of my bad luck, I believe this product to be poorly engineered and constructed.

i had a firewire external hard drive enclosure that just stopped working for some odd reason.. so i decided to go for a normal usb 2.0 and i saw this product.. at first it seemed a little pricey for me but what was selling me on it was the built in fan. so i decided to look at other sites and ebay just to see how much this was.. and it was cheaper here.. ebay was selling it for like 80 dollars at one point and so i decided to buy it here and haven't regretted it yet... it is really a great product and for something with a fan in it..its pretty quiet..it's a great buy and only reason i was looking for a fan in the enclosure is because the area i have my comp at gets extremely hot..

Everything works very nicely. It didn't come with an eSATA cable like the description said. Also it was a little slow with USB, hopefully this will be fixed with eSATA. Also the fan is a bit noisy, nothing ridiculous though. Altogether a good deal.

I bought one to retrieve files from my old computer's hard drive (IDE) and for my brother-in-law's SATA hard drive. This box was so simple and it worked great. The first one I bought I sent to him, hard drive installed, ready to go, and ordered another one for myself, and that one arrived the next day without expedited shipping. So I have to say I'm very pleased with this shopping experience.

Well built, works good. Nice touch with the screw driver, but one size too small for the screw heads. I plan on buying another.

Has all the fittings for ATA and SATA. comes up quickly and runs fairly quietly. This is my third external enclosure and the best of the bunch.

As many have noted, the finish of this product is excellent. I was surprised at how much real metal is included in the build: the only plastic is the fan and fan housing. Also, the unit is held together with screws, rather than snap fittings. The manual, however, is horrible; at times unreadable. No problem if you don't use the manual, but I realized some features after installing the drive the first time, prompting me to take it apart and try again. For instance: you can remove the sides and secure the drive with included screws. Also, I'm not sure why there are two LEDs, because only one of them lights up. Another tip: to install the drive, remove the side w/out the fan; seat the drive into the front of the enclosure first, then connect the leads and seat the back. If you purchase this enclosure, be prepared to spend a little time with it figuring it out.

Ordered this enclosure when my old computer started acting strange. The order arrived within three days! There were no real instructions, but none are needed. I had no trouble putting it together; the box is a tight fit for the hard drive, but works great. Has its own fan, power and LED light. A bargain in my opinion, good quality metal case, looks great on the desktop. I plan to buy another one soon.

So far no problems. At first I had the same problem installing the drives as others mentioned, that it wouldn't fit. Then it struck me, flip the hard drive then it fits perfectly.

Using this product for an old 80GB SATA hard drive. Works as a backup for my laptop. No problems. No regrets. Would definately buy again.

Used with 1TB Hitachi. Computer with 35P chipset reads and writes with no problem. Computer with 845GEBV2 chipset reads only, for some strange reason.

I used this simply to retrieve files from old drives, then I recycled the drives, so I can't really speak to how well this would work for regular use, but it worked fine for me. The instructions are a joke, but it's pretty self evident how to use it. I hooked up an IDE and a SATA drive with the USB 2 cord, didn't use the eSata. All needed cords were included.

This case is a winner on every count (including the well-labeled controls and extras like the screwdriver) except the availability of internal space for connecting the drive. I have a normal IDE drive in mine and it really took some enthusiastic fiddling to get it installed! Once in, however, the whole package works as well as it looks - very well indeed. I'd highly recommend this to anyone except those with very large fingers!

The Sabrent Hard Drive Enclosure comes with all the features you could want. It comes standard with a power On/Off Switch which others do not have. The fit & finish is terrific. The kit comes with everything you need to assemble and mount your hard drive [including a little miniature screwdriver]. And, you can mount an IDE or SATA drive with the included wiring adaptors. I tried one, then bought another for work. You will not be disappointed!

Interface and enclosure work as advertised. Fits mostly any configuration for drives and power. I wish I could mount a 3.5 HD inside - there's no way to do it that I can see.

Bought two enclosures, problem is they operate differently. One keeps both lights and the fan on at all times. The other has a working drive light and the fan turns on with the power switch. The packaging was slightly different, so I believe that they were two different revisions of the same product. I would prefer if when purchasing two identical items I would receive two of the same revision level. This was I can use them as indented, as backups. Each drive works quite well.

As others have stated, the case has an extremely tight fit for the drive and wiring to fit during re-assembly. In my case, so tight that it stressed the wiring to the point of failing. I did get the SATA interface to work for a few minutes, then many drive errors started showing up. I tried the IDE interface and it would not even recognize that a disk was connected. I replaced this unit with a Masscool UHB-381UES.

It is a nice looking unit and performs well. The problem is that the enclosure is too small for the drive. The power connector when installed interferes with the circuit board. This prevents the drive from mounting properly. I had to disassemble the unit, remove the screws from the board and then install the drive. The circuit board was reinstalled with it bowed up slightly due to the connector in the drive. It barely went back together. You can't tell there was a problem and it works well. The instructions that come with the enclosure are useless.

I use the SATA feature of this enclosure to put together a 1TB external hard drive. Assembly is straight forward and takes very little time. The completed unit looks great. The enclosure is well designed and materials are of good quality. I especially like the stand that comes with the enclosure so that it can stand upright saving desk space. Also, the case fan is a great feature contributing to quiet and efficient operation. Overall I am very satisfied and feel I made a good choice. I would recommend this enclosure.
