Solid product - real steel (not plastic)
Comment:
Love the large fan; keeps the drive cool. Slightly tight quarters. Would be even happier with an extra quarter inch of length so the cables weren't so squeezed against the bridge board. However, everything fits and works fine. Wish it had FireWire instead of eSATA - don't see any eSATA on Macs. Bought about a half-dozen of these so far. All in all, a good value and, after a half dozen of these in use at clients and at home, I'll stick with it.

very easy to use

I put my drive in connected to my pc and I was done. The drive fit was tight, could use more room at the connector end. Well built and solid

Versatile
Comment:
I bought this unit because of the features. This is the only unit I found that melds older technology with new. You can use older Pata or newer Sata drives. The hookup to the computer is older USB or new eSata. Drives fit a little tight but the unit is quiet and does what I want it to do.

Works Great
Comment:
Nice product at the right price. Does what is expected. The instructions are kind of weak but installing the unit is pretty intuitive. Fitting the drive in the enclosure is a little tight but it goes together ok. Love the fan. Runs quiet and cool. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Only Half a Drive
Comment:
I have been plagued by write failures since I installed the product. I can read from the drive, but can't use it for backup, which is why I purchased it.

Best external hard drive enclosure yet
Comment:
I own three different external hard drives all for different reasons. This was by far the best enclosure I have purchased so far.

Almost perfect
Comment:
My only complaint is they did not allow enough clearance for the power connector to the drive, and I had to shave it down -- still a very tight fit, which makes it harder than it should be to swap drives. But with both SATA and IDE support (comes with cables for both) and Windows, Mac, and Linux support, it's hard to beat. (Linux users, don't worry, it will immediately recognize your partitions.)

Great stuff
Comment:
Very nice product, does exactly what it needs to do. Only downside is depending on the model of HDD, you have to bend the SATA cable a weird way that makes you feel as if you will break it. Wish it allowed us to connect our own SATA cable, i fear the wire might break if I switch hard drives frequently.

cool design
Comment:
If this is your first external HD build, this would probably be a little bit complicated since the manual doesn't help at all. It is initially set up for IDE. Comes with SATA cables. Never gets hot. Has an on-off switch which is very important! and a cool blue LED. Very satisfied with this enclosure.

Quality control
Comment:
Nice enclosures, well made. If either of the power cables are missing, your at Sabrents mercy. Nothing else will fit in the case and allow putting the cover back on. The case would be more friendly if it was a little longer. Then the cables could be substituted. If the quality control was better, it wouldn't have taken two weeks to get the missing cable. If I order another and it's missing any parts, I'll return it and purchase something else.

This is my 3rd purchase of this product
Comment:
For the money, solid construction, and the fact that it is an eSATA - USB device WITH A FAN to keep the hard drive cool; I look for this enclosure whenever I need one. The key is keeping the 2TB drives cool. Other enclosures may be pretty, colorful, and sexy looking but may leave hard drives overheating. This enclosure will not let you down.

Does not work with USB
Comment:
Every time I try to plug this into my USB port it tells me the drive needs to be formatted, works ok on E-SATA but not as fast as I would have expected

What I expected for the price
Comment:
My package had everything that was said to be included as well as an eSATA cable. The hardware instructions just tell you to remove the top cover and connect the drive, so that could be a lot more detailed. To put the hard drive in, I had to attach the cables to the back of it and put it in back first, pivoting the connectors almost under the circuit board. Then I put the front of the drive in. I had to push the drive back against the circuit board a bit to get the front to clear. So it is a tight fit and probably not good for the cables but the benefit is that it's a snug fit. I don't see any reason to use the included screws though I might have to do some prying to get it out. Also the connectors are a bit more rough on the fingers than most. I like the LEDs a lot. There are two blue ones on the front corners that stay on, and a red or orange light comes on when there is activity. I've only tested it with a 30GB IDE drive on win7 and linux.

It works
Comment:
I bought it for a 300GB IDE drive I had from my old computer so I could copy my data to my new build very easily. I can say it works with an IDE drive quite nicely, though it was a tight fit getting the drive in there. Instructions said to just take off the top cover, though I had to actually take the whole thing apart to get the drive in. The instruction manual looks as if it was written by LOLcats, although it was Windows specific so I didn't need it anyway. Now I have a 300GB external drive for back up and data transfer. Works great under Linux if anyone was wondering.

This is a great copy of the Rosewill case, but the Rosewill sells for much more $. Can't beat this design for the cooling, it is like an insurance policy on your hard drive, I HIGHLY recommend them!

Could've been a contender
Comment:
The right price, all the necessary features and a cooling fan to boot. I thought I had a winner. Unfortunately, it doesn't function properly. The esata interface doesn't work at all. I tried it on 2 different computers... both eSATA verified with a similar adapter. I even tried different cables. After 5 mins of waiting for the computer to boot, no esata. That was dissapointing. I bought it for an older usb2 connected computer, on which it seems to work okay. Still, because of the esata problem, I'm thinking of returning it... or at least exchanging it for a new one.

Good Product, Good Price
Comment:
Item worked as anticipated and I have not had any problems. Works with both SATA and IDE HDD's which was the major selling point. I have not experienced any problems (not even with the screwdriver, which while a bit undersized does not cause problems if you do not try to over tighten). Well constructed; would recommend.

Comment:
Its a bit pricey for an external enclosure but it is wonderfully constructed and the built-in fan keeps the drive nice and cool I have 3 of these and they have worked incredibly well for me. Plus I've put both SATA and IDE drives in these Sabrent enclosures Highly Recommended
