Hey, if you need an external that you can make yourself, look no further. This enclosure is almost too easy to put together. I now have it hooked up to my OSX Mac Mini. I originally and mistakenly purchased an identical item but for SATA connector. When I got this item, it worked ok for one of my 2.5 inch mini-IDE HD but not the other. The second 2.5 inch mini-IDE HD was slightly thicker than the first. If this item was about 1 mm thicker, then it would have been an ideal and universal 2.5 inch mini-IDE HD enclosure.

Works great, fine quality. I carry my old laptop hard drive in it and use it at school. I now have a 120 gig thumb drive, big enough for all my classes and my virtual pc drive.

It only worked the first time i pugged it in, then after 2 days it no longer worked. I'v tried it on 5 different computers and none of them will recognize it. I put the HDD back into the laptop and it works so I know it's the HDD. Not worth the postage to send it back.

This is a great enclosure. The price is right. Solidly made. Uses a standard rectangular USB plug instead of the mini USB, which I love. The mini's break easier. I'd by another in a heartbeat. I now have two, one for a 2.5 HD and one for a 3.5 HD.

This enclosure is great especially for the price. It's really intended for a permanent change from laptop harddrive to external harddrive, but it works great for temporary uses and is much safer than other adapters at electrical accidents. A great buy!!

I had my regrets before ordering it, because I have had trouble with previous other 3rd party products, that the power connection would just fall out. So I bought one with a built in power supply, that's what I was looking for when I came across this one..so far so good The power connection is good and tight no special drivers needed (which I really like) fast, works like a charm! I gave the value only 3 stars only because the shipping was almost as much as the product itself other than that.. Good Product!

I have two of these, unfortunately. Using them requires two ports. Both work fine on my desktop and large laptops. Neither works on my two small laptops. Even when plugged into the only two ports the laptops have, the enclosure pulls more power than the small Dells can provide, and the drives won't work. So I'm limited to my desktop and big laptop only.

Worked first time right out of the box. Does not have screws to secure the drive to the enclosure but the drive fits tight enough so that it doesn't seem to need to be fastened. Great product for the price.

Good price, but it would not work. My computer did not recoginize the hard drive installed. Instructions that came with the product was very vague and the manufactures web site was of no help.

Easy to Install and operate. In less than 5 minutes, I had access to my old laptop's HD and browsed through all those term papers from high school and 90's music.

Worked right out of the box, no problems with HDD out of dead laptop. Unlike the ULTRA which I have not gotten to work at all, returned one got another and that didn't work either. This product was cheaper and works. Buy this with confidence. Only issue I have is with a new 160gb drive which is seen in XP computer management but will not partition (option greyed out, and yes I have administrator rights)
