Was very impressed with enclosure. Easy to install drive and did not need to use the driver software. Works automatically with Vista. Worked as soon as it was booted up.

Mine works just PURRRfect! No rattle either! Having read all the previous reviews, I'm going to say it's dependent of the HD, rpm etc., that are causing these problems some of you are experiencing. BTW, don't expect to get fantastic instruction to assemble this very CHEAP product. My 5th Grader daughter can figure this puppy without reading any instructions.

I guess you get what you pay for with this drive. It is just a metal case, a circuit board and to ill fitting plastic ends. The screws that came with the enclose didn't fit properly and fell out and hence the drive keeps falling out. I don't know if it is the way the drive is grounded or what but at times it runs great and other times it transfers data in spurts and takes forever to transfer files. This happens no matter what computer is used so it is the drive.

The enclosure only works with drives formated in FAT16 or FAT32.

I firmly believe in the ''You get what you pay for'' adage, so I was very skeptical as I paid for my first $10.00 enclosure. The packaging the enclosure didn’t' do much for my confidence - super-cheap, Chinese import-looking like you would find at a really bad flea market. In spite of my reservations, I installed an older 40 gig drive, and then just plugged the enclosure in to my PC. A quick format and I was in business. A short time later, I had loaded as many MP3's on it as would fit. In the last year, I've put over 2000 hours onto the drive and enclosure while dragging the unit back and forth to work and most anywhere else I go. It's repeatedly been both roasted and frozen in my car and bumped and dropped while riding in my bag - All without incident. I'm still dubious about cheap merchandise, but not about this. I heartily recommend this little case to anyone who is looking.

I too had the issue with my hard drive not being able to fit in at the same time as the end piece but figured out how to fix it. If you take a file or piece of sand paper and file the ends of the taps at a 45 degree angle and then try to put the hard drive in, the bevel guides the hard drive into place and secures it quite firmly. I didn't have a problem with the rattling, tho if you do, I suggest getting two thin strips of foam to stop it.

I slipped in my old hard drive, secured it with the two enclosed screws, and plugged it into my laptop. It worked first time, and every time since. As an added bonus, it comes with a nifty little screwdriver! This is one of the best gadgets I've ever purchased.

This thing is great. It only has two screws to hold on the front of the enclosure, but firm foam padding inside in the back to hold the drive steady. It comes with everything you need, be careful to not strip the screws and you'll definitely enjoy. It isn't as fast as some others, but I generally get about 3-4 Megs/sec transfer rate, a great deal for $9.99!

My motherboard on my Gateway laptop apparently fried and I had to save all my info before I sent it off to the companty, so I went with this product hoping for the best. Installation was a sinch, and in no time, about 60GB worth of stuff was transfered over to a different computer in about 1 hour. I highly recomend this product to anyone who is looking for a great HD inclosure.

This enclosure ruined my hard drive; I lost all my data. When previous reviewers talk about it rattling about a bit, they are correct. Only 2 small screws secure drive in the case. Once disk starts spinning, the unbalanced/unsecured hard drive starts vibrating and next thing the platter is ruined. I learned the hard way. Upset.

Purchased one of these from tiger direct back in January. The item worked like a top right out of the box. One minor complaint is that the drive did not fit tightly into the enclosure. Rattled about a bit. Other than that , a terrific buy.

No problems with this device. Put my new drive into this enclosure and cloned my old drive using the USB port. Replaced the old drive with the new drive in my computer and put the old drive into this enclosure. The only drawback is that the screws are tiny and you have to be carefull not to strip then.

Nice enclosure quiet, small and the price is rite. The full size USB plug is nice, The end of my unit had a sloppy fit between the cap holding the board and the body of the enclosure case. I can live with it.

Works fine however the design flaw is that when I slide the hard drive in the enclosure the other end of the enclosure comes off. That end attaches with tabs and it is impossible to put back on while the hard drive is installed. The solution is to leave one end off the enclosure and carefully use it that way. Other than that it works.

Bought it, like it, would recommend it. There is no activity light on the one I received. There is a circuit for both power and activity LEDs, but I think Sabrent has subbed a single LED for the dual LED. I moved my power only one to the activity circuit and it works fine. I don't need to know if it has power, windows will tell me that.

It is very slim and slick... could fit into my pocket... shipped fast, I ordered it wednesday night and it was on my door step friday when I came home... My only problem is that I did not recieve a USB cable... so how am I supposed to use it? I supposed I will have to buy a cable to use or something other then that, installation was a breaze, my hard drive fit comfortably inside and doesn't rattle around... but I would have perfered some way to secure the drive itself with screws rather then just securing the interface...

I have 4 of these and all of them work perfectly, the drives get reconized fast and they are a must for reworking laptop drives on a dead system. The only thing you have to check on is that your drives don't take too much power, if you pull too much power from the USB bus the drive will be ''dropped'' like some people here claim; though you'll get this from any USB powered enclosure.

Works great. The only thing is the y-cable is a little short, which makes it tough to work with a laptop. But for the price...

Recd. within 3 days and installed my 2.5'' 60 Gig Toshiba HD from a ''dead'' laptop. The instructions, or lack thereof, ''suck''. No diagram or details, but after staring at the case and connector, I did install, without ''rattle'' others refer to. Note, the first time I tried I did get rattle, but I checked install and turned drive over, not positive but maybe drive only mounts one way in case, after attaching interface? Works well and looks good, for the price I guess the lack of directions is what to expect... very satisfied with product itself.... Five Stars if functional instructions were included!!!!

This was a great product for my old mac hard drive I had collecting dust in my closest. Easy to install and it booted up with no need for a driver or extra USB cable. If you're looking for something to stick that old hard drive in, this works cheaply and effectively.

I purchased two of these devices. They work very well. I have only had to hook up both USB ports when formating and even then I'm not sure. Unlike what one poster has said, the device does have an activity light -- the power light flickers to red from yellow when used. Also, both of my drives fit very tight inside (once completely inserted). The speed is very good to.
