I bought this product to retrieve pictures off a laptop hard drive that went south and it did exactly as it claimed it would. I got almost all the pictures off the drive and other files too! It worked great! The price can't be beat!! I highly recommend it for anyone looking to do the same thing or to use it for a new notebook for transferring over old files from the previous notebook.

I bought this for a friend to rescue his data from a broken laptop. Once it arrived I popped the hard drive in this enclosure and within minutes I had all his pictures and music migrated over to his new computer. He's super happy and now has a nice little external hd.

If you're looking at it: Buy it! Worth the cost in every way. I love when a product does exactly what it says it will and this one does. Right out of the box, two tiny screws and you're on your way. No BS, just straight setup and go. I rate 5 on the value because it is a great price compared to other similar products. I rated it 5 on the features because they are simple and useful. There isn't a ton of extras that you don't need, just a cable and an indicator light. I rated 5 on the quality because it came ready to go and has worked since. The screws and screwdriver were included and putting it together was painless. I got exactly what I paid for and that equates to quality for me. I rated it 5 on performance because it does exactly what it says it will with no issues whatsoever so far when it comes to craftsmenship. Right out of the box it worked and I haven't unplugged it in over a month.

It was easy to install the hard drive in the case. There were no problems it took about 5 minutes. This is not a fancy en closer but it is very easy to setup and use. If you have an old laptop IDE drive laying around this is one way to make it useful again.

This looks identical to the MSI cases I bought two years ago except it is finished better. The units work great and are the most compact units on the market which makes them ideal for travel. HOWEVER this is the only unit I have seen that uses a full size USB connection instead of a mini USB for the drive, and thus will not work with most of the cables I have, just with the special cables it came with. So, if this is your only USB case, buy it. But of you have multiple units you may find this lack of interoperability to be a disadvantage.

the finish makes the enclosure a fingerprint magnet, and the hard drive is not very secure in the case (shake it and u can hear the HD banging back and forth) but as a cheap light-use enclosure its quite good. very fast data transfer, runs a 5400rpm drive on one usb just fine

I have had absolutely no problems with this external HD. Powers up and disconnects without a hitch, recommend this HD enclosure. I bought a new laptop and had alot of files on my old one, I put the old HD in the enclosure and have access to all I had on my old laptop, plus all on my new one.

This does what it sets out to do: fit your 2.5 ide drive and plug into your computer and act as an external drive. UBS dual plug included, there was even a tiny screw driver to use with the accompanying screws. And a cloth case. And the enclosure feels sturdy. I'm happy, can you tell? The only glitch was that the clasps on the bottom of the enclosure were the teensiest bit too large, (or is it that my HD is the teensiest bit too large?!) so I had to use my daughter's genius idea and modify it ever so slightly.

I had this old laptop I was replacing but wanted to keep the 120GB HDD I had put in it just a year earlier. This hard drive enclosure has been working excellent and I use it as my Time Machine drive for my new MacBook. I don't have any issues with it. The case is really sleek and slim. It's very simple but it does what it should. It's worth the $10 for sure. Get it, it works great.

I stepped on my notebooks screen and couldn't get another monitor to work on it. I saw this device and after ordering it, was able to put my hard drive in it and now I have all my files back! It works great! It worked so well, that I now have it as backup storage for my important files from my other two pc's. It is terrific to carry around when I can't bring my laptop. I just hook it up to another pc and I have instant access!

i really didnt have him do it... but he could have. had it together in about a minute and was up and running... who cares if it quits working in 6 months cause its cheap... i'll buy another just like it

Case is a little flimsy, but the drive goes in fine and the cover goes on fine. Those little screws are hard to work with. Speed is satisfactory. For $10, you can't go wrong.

Bought 3 of these took a little time to figure out directions not that great but went to Sabrent's web site and downloaded the setup once set up no problems.freed up a lot of space n computer, music and photos now on usb harddive kids love them

I installed a drive and had it working within minutes of it's arriival. This makes backing up data as easy as opening a directory.
