I guess the value on black friday was a large pro, USร,99 is one thing that you can throw on the trash if you don't like it. Not that effectively built, and I don't know what's with thermaltake to attempt to make anything "multi-colored" (ever given that the butterfly energy supplies). I imply, why do you will need a blue/red shiny issue (that's not even a button) to point out what's going on?But that's not my key complaint. I just took a spare 1TB harddrive 񣚠RPM) and come on, it's formatting for 4 hours now and it's still on 29%.Transfer speeds are SLOW, I've bought this along with two 2tb drivers as I'm going to campus party this year, and I don't think 1 week will be sufficient for me to fill these drives with such slow transfer rates. I truly expected far more from this unit. Rating 3 stars as a kindness. Quite easy to use and performs effectively for SATA challenging drives, each 2.5" and 3.5". I would be thrilled if they could just create the bloody power adapter into the base of this factor. Instead, I get a brick that sits straight on the socket. Not extremely handy.

The Docking Station is simple to set up and use. I use the USB connection most of the time. The SATA needs to hooked up when you start the machine. None but I own two these units.

I'll let you know if I ever get it operating When first plugged in with hard drive inserted, no drive is observed in My Computer. (XP) Go to Thermaltake internet site and wade by way of FAQs. 1st FAQ is precisely this. Do what it says to do. No assist. Other individuals have already rated that FAQ answer as unhelpful, so add my vote to the pile. Go to other FAQs. Subsequent one has a complete distinct process. Do that till you get to a step where the alternative they want you click is greyed out. But, they send you to yet another FAQ if that's your situation. Go there and do that. That functions to get me back in gear with FAQ 2. Complete that one and voila I have a drive letter visible in my personal computer, but, alas, windows says it can't format it. Disconnect and go to unique computer and now it's formatting. I've utilized other external difficult drives. In no way had this issue with them.

This is the great tool to retrieve information from an unbootable drive. Its incredibly easy to use and instantly recognized in Win XP & Vista. It has an on/off button on the back which will allow you access to the drive when you want. It even has good searching blue and red lighting. Any person who fiddles with computers must have this! The included USB cable could be longer, but I currently knew it would be short and purchased a longer one particular. Don't that that discourage you from obtaining this.

Easy to useFlexibleSupports laptop and desktop tricky drivesEffortless way to clone tricky drives Slow - clone your difficult drive at night. Searching forward to USB 3. Would have given 5 stars if was quicker. Teamed with Acronis computer software, the docking station delivers a straightforward and reliable way to clone a tricky drive. With the low cost of hard drives, a present backup clone drive is an reasonably priced way to defend oneself against an unexpected hard drive crash. I discovered this out immediately after the challenging drives on each my desk prime and lap best computers crashed.

Straightforward to use and handy for men and women that rebuild computers, I normally just put a new drive in the personal computer and then use the BlacX to move there data from the old drive to the new 1. An On Off button would be great when ejecting the drive

Well built. Sleek Design. Incompatible with Western Digital 1TB Caviar Green SATA... take note!!! I purchased this hoping it would save the energy difficulties on my year-old 1TB MyBook. Even so, whenever I turned the power on, I heard a hum from the outlet (as if a fuse was about to blow), so I turned it off. Via on the net forums, I found that the issue involved the SATA drive's compatibility. Ultimately, it's a Western Digital issue and not Thermaltake's... still, I only own WD drives so I had to give this enclosure a low ranking. I returned it and am awaiting a refund. Manufacturer Response:Crumbs,This unit has no compatibility problems with any WD SATA tough drive. We use numerous drives of all sizez up to 2TB from WD devoid of issue. Uncomplicated to juggle several tough drives without taking your desktop apart. Purchased to make it less difficult to use my tough drive on numerous computers instead of an expensive network tough drive. challenging drive seems a bit exposed, and worries me about dust over time. Then again, the inside of my desktop most likely sees a lot more dust than my desk :) Will accept any difficult drive size merely and quickly.

Strong construction. All USB ports operate and the HDD dock has worked with each and every SATA drive I've plugged in. Comes with extremely short USB A-B and energy cables. When making use of this, you have to be sure you adequately get rid of USB connections using your OS interface prior to you unplug them from the dock. I've produced the mistake of just yanking the HDD on one particular occasion and had to rebuild my file tables.

AffordableIt functions None that matters to me I've had this drive docking station for eight months now, working with it to dock bare drives for backing up my systems. I've utilized it with 1, 1.5, and 2TB drives. Even though I had an initial concern about the connectors holding up for so quite a few insertion cycles, so far it has worked with out fail. If (or maybe "when") it breaks, I'll undoubtedly invest in yet another.

This point is excellent. It allowed me to take a 750GB storage drive from my desktop back residence, and use it with my laptop here in my college dorm. It overheats the drive. Not to a point where it does not operate, but I have a fan blowing on it just in case. Physically touching the drive even though in operation is not a pleasant knowledge.Just lately I noticed that the tough drive was making a quite rapid clicking noise. I thought my drive was about to go out due to the "clicking noise", but it was just mainly because the drive wasn't snug enough in the casing (even although it nonetheless showed up on laptop), and the factor was vibrating against the plastic. I would try to uncover a different casing with a fan included. I went for the cost, and for what I paid it is acceptable.

Fantastic price and ease of use. The instructions that came in the box had been a small lacking, nevertheless, a speedy hop onto Thermaltake's web site supplied all the answers I needed. Quite considerably a plug and play item. Used this and an WD challenging drive to backup my pc. Took approx ten-15 minutes. Rapidly sufficient for me, I wasn't going anywhere :) Could have far better instructions included in the box (like what was on the webpage). Just a minor inconvenience.

reads drives excellent. haven't had any true problems with it. most issues occur from attempting to use the wrong OS to read particular data with. win 7 and Linux seem to study drives the easiest. Has worked like a champ because I got it. only con is not becoming able to study IDE drives, but I saw that going in. This is the second a single of these that I have bought from new egg. When I got my 1st a single had some troubles attempting to do some data recovery and windows xp wouldn't recognize the information. attempted the box on linux and win 7 and it worked. ThermalTake tech assistance had pushed me in the proper path, haven't gone wrong with any of their products so far.
