Crouching Price, Hidden Cord!
Comment:
Bought this since I had an extra SATA drive and wanted to put it to use. Works just like described but is slightly clumsy to use since the supplied USB cord is shorter than usual. Get a longer cable and you're set! |

Very Good Product
Comment:
I have several Crashed SATA Harddrives around. I bought this product and it increases the time I have to take my Files off of my Crashed HardDrives using the Freezer Trick. Very Good Product. |

Thermaltake N0028USU External Enclosure
Cons:Power On/Activity light looks like power switch
Pros:Solid, Easy to Use Comment:
Paid $15.99 after mail-in rebate. If you are looking for a SATA docking station, I would highly recommend this unit. I mistaken the Power on/Activity light as the On/Off switch the first time I use it. |

highly recommended
Comment:
product given 4 because I have not had chance to compare with competing products but have used many different external drive cases. works well. nice to have on/off button, big plus to be able to easily use 2.5 or 3.5 drives. Would I use for backup on regular basis - maybe but since drive is not protected in case I don't recommend anyone to constantly handle a drive like that. I simply think it is better to have a drive in a case that will be handled a lot. Note: some SSD drives will not work because they use lower voltage than a standard SATA drive - so unless your SSD 2.5 drive adjusts voltage - it won't be recognized. Some are acutally micro SSDs in a 2.5" SATA case. Some of the cases also may be a bit tight oor not quite fit (example of SSD - drive obtained from Lenovo for x301 ThinkPad) Great product |

I expected this unit to be simple to use and I wasn't disappointed. I wish it came with a FW400 interface so I could use it as a booting drive for my MacPro Quad |

Great inexpensive way to expand storage. Cables were too short for my area of use. Use of a fan may prolong the life of the drives. |

Very good, but very hot!
Comment:
Firstly, I like the idea and the implementation. It works well - fulfilling all promises. However, the drive itself, when in use, can get astoundingly hot. One reviewer referred to it as "my toaster", and while you might not be able to fry effs on it, it can't be far off! Right now I have a drive in and have not accessed it for several hours, and I can rest my hand on it: if I'm using the drive a lot the temperature rises to be too painful to leave a hand on it for more than a few seconds. |

Easy to use
Comment:
Worked as advertised. Good instuctions for first time users of unformatted hard drives. It would have been nicer if the supplied usb cable were longer though. |

Product was advertized
Comment:
I've used the drive dock several times with different drives and it workes great. I just wished the company would have sent a cover or a different retractible lid that completely coveres the contacts from dust and debris. I made my own cover. |

High rated, why I bought
Comment:
Hey, I like my toaster, It let me interchange, my internal drives easily. Just eject from my desktop, lift up & out & put another one in, with a few seconds, it up & running the other drive. Beats the enclosure, for fast & easy exchange of HDDs. Got mine on a special deal, for $20.00. I'm watching for another good deal, so I can buy another one & maybe more HDDs too, in the future! P.S. PRO IS: IT only runs when called on, It doesn't run all the time, & it runs cooler. This should extend the life of the HDD. It has A blue power light & a red activity light. So know it's on & when reading or writing. |

THIS IS THE GREATEST INVENTION SINCE SLICED BREAD
Comment:
I bought this last week along with 2 Seagate 1.5 TB hard drives. It works like a charm and because the drives are not enclosed in a case they operate much cooler. I plan on ordering 2 more of these docks so that I can use one with my laptop and also use both 1.5 TB hard drives on my Dell Inspiron 530 att eh same time without increasing the temperature inside the computer case. As usual, this site had the best service. |

Does what it is designed to do and does it well.
Comment:
I purchased this dock to clone my 2.33Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro internal HD data onto a new internal 500GB HD. It worked perfectly. Then I swapped the new HD for the 120GB HD that came with the laptop. The conversion worked well. The new HD booted the laptop sucessfully and runs great. I will use the old HD in the dock as a backup for photographs. |
Love this device so far. Looks great to start, and couldn't be easier to use. drop in the drive, plug it in, and you're ready to go. Haven't done any measurement yet, but it feels faster than the WD USB hard drives that I use for backup. Best thing is that I can now make some use of my old 100GB hard drives that are just lying on the shelf, good for the environment/good for my wallet.
