Works... but not for long
Comment:
This unit only works OK for short transfers, but after a few minutes it gets noticeably hot (the interface plug where the CPU chip resides, not the power supply) and then it looses connectivity to the drive it's connected to. Very annoying. This happens after about 2.5-3GB of data transfer. When it is working transfer speed is good, and it is very versatile in terms of the drives that it supports. I even was able to get my Pioneer DVD burner (3.5" IDE) working, although slower then when it is connected to the IDE bus of the desktop motherboard. So bottom line, it works, but don't expect it to handle heavy sustained data transfers.

Works nicely for the price
Comment:
If you need to quickly get data off an old HD, this is a good way to do it, without opening your system up. I will agree with some who said that the cables are a bit short, but no big deal for me, and great that it comes with a SATA cable. Another cheaper one that did not work well that i got off Ebay, did not come with the SATA Cable. For the price very nice. ULTRA products you can trust.

Flawless performance
Comment:
I'm running an older dual Xeon system that does not have an SATA interface. When my neighbor handed me her crashed SATA hard drive for data recovery, a device such as this was required. It connected easily, Windows recognized the drive and the files were recovered. The package had everything needed to connect the drive to both power and data. Because it also connects to IDE/PATA drives is a bonus. I won't have to pull one of mine out of the case to connect any drives for recovery.

Works good, very handy
Comment:
Cable works as advertised, scored as average on quality simply because I have not owned it long enough for proper evaluation. This is one of those cables that proves valuable to have around I used it to pull data off of drives form previous machines that had crashed from various hardware issues (other than drive malfunction). It also allows the option of wiping and using these same drives for data backup and storage. Highly recommended.

Does what it's supposed to
Comment:
It works. I used it to recover data from a hard drive that would no longer boot. Usually that's all that I need, this time it required software to recover data which reads sector by sector, which made this unit a bit too slow, but it works. The USB connection is slower than ATA connection within your computer, so if you have a lot of data to move, hook up internally. I agree with others about how handy these things are, I've been using USB drive enclosures all these years, requiring me to disassemble and swap drives. The Seagate FreeAgent broke me of that habit since it's just not meant to be taken apart, this unit makes it really quick and easy. If you're having problems with the drive being readable, plug in the power first, USB last.

Worked as advertised
Comment:
I had to reformat a 2.5 ATA HD that had errors and wouldn't load. I also wanted to save my 20G of pictures on that HD. As soon as the product arrived it was out of the box and put to use. I was able to extract the pictures and save elsewhere. Not a dropped connection. Flawless operation. Didn't even have to use the power adapter.

This is a very handy product if you have a lot of random hard drives that have accumulated over the years. As another reviewer mentioned, the cable is a little short... but it works just fine.

As long as the hard drive, does not have any damage, moving files from a non-functional drive was very easy, affordable and reliable.

Great Device for Tech Tool Box
Comment:
As a Tech Support Rep, I get a lot of service calls from customers whose Hard Drives have crashed. The customers want their data and personal files recovered from the HD. This device is great for viewing/copying the data on the Hard drives. This device works with all HD form factors and is easily setup to use. It comes with everything you need. A great addition to any tech's tool box.

Not Bad - Does the Job
Comment:
It works and I'm satisfied with it. Love the versatility of it because I have several different HDs. The usb cable is not really that long, though. And the pin connector is made of really cheap plastic. All in all a good product.

great product - easy to use
Comment:
Great product! The power plugs are key, so you only plug them in one way. I am running Windows XP and it detected the hard drives as soon as I plugged them in. I have to admit the speed for transferring the files-photos from the old drives was VERY fast. I was super pleased with the results. It made getting data off a couple of old PC super easy. I have already recommended this product to some friends.

Saved a hard drive
Comment:
My external hard drive stopped working. It was my backup. Being out of warranty, I ordered the USB cable and now I can get to my files. I also bought another external hard drive as a backup to the backup. When you have music files that you perform with, it pays to have several backups of files you have hours of time involved in creating them.

Best tool in a PC support tech's arsenal...ever
Comment:
I was so tired of cracking my case on my PC to troubleshoot drives every time an external enclosure, or someone else's PC took a dump. This product is the be all and end all in PC support tools. Just plug any kind of drive (SATA, IDE, Laptop) into this thing and connect it to a PC via USB. You'll know right away if the drive is working, and you'll be able to retrieve data from the drive easily without un-cabeling and cracking the case on your PC.

Excellent Value!
Comment:
I purchased this product to retrieve some business information from a non-bootable hard drive. This drive fried my system and a back-up computer of mine. Even a technician fried a computer of his trying to access it. He thought I might have a boot sector virus. But this USB adaptor was simple, Plug'N Play. I was able to retrieve my info in minutes. Excellent product!

Awesome Product
Comment:
This product is awesome. I have a bunch of drives sitting around and I could test them to see if they are ok and they were. Also, I can format a new drive and prepare it for my machine without opening up the machine. Awesome product.
