WARNING! This fried my Laptop
Comment:
This device fried my laptop. Using the external power supply that comes with this device to power an external SATA HD connected to a USB port on my laptop equals Smoke. Twas a D3ll M6400. Good thing I had extended repair plan for the Dell but the failure toasted my HD as well as the laptop's power supply & mother board:( So the D3ll got fixed, while this thing went in the trash. |

Drivers
Comment:
I wanted this item for a Windows 98se computer to go through a stack of old drives, I took a couple days to get the drivers but I got them from Ultra Products. The address in the booklet was wrong, but I called them toll free, and tech support gave me the correct address, this item works very well now. |

Good Buy, Saved the day
Comment:
Recovered important data from non-bootable drive. Took awhile but worked; seemed to work faster on MAC than W7. Glad I purchased it. |

works well but

handy options, just make sure you box it all up when you're done so you dont lose any bits. indispensable during drive upgrades. it'd be nice to have an enclosure to go with the guts. |

Nice concept...if it worked
Comment:
Granted, either I'm not using it correctly OR mine is defective but while several machines (WinXPpro SP3) see the USB deive as drive, none open any partition on a formatted PATA drive. Like I said, nice idea if it worked. |

Almost ''All'' Drives
Comment:
What a great device for moving files from all of those old drives, portable drives... but wait! I also have a box of old SCSI drives of various connection types. Well, I knew this device wouldn't help with those. The ad should say ''almost all hard drives''. This fills a computer need that anyone with more than a screwdriver, pliers and a hammer in their tool box is going to wish they had sooner or later. It's one of those ''why didn't think of that''? ''Indispensable'' when you need it, so store it in a place where you can find it the next time you upgrade a computer. Even when we all go to USB 3, this will still work for today's and yesterday's drives. Cool product! |

Fantastic
Comment:
This is a great little adapter. Plug it in and go. Works perfectly. I wish i had bought this b4 my thermaltake docking station. The docking station is for sata only. Hint, if you are using an IDE drive you might want to change the jumper to slave only. Had mine on cable select and it didn't want to read it that way. Switched it to slave and bada boom, done. |

Works Great!
Comment:
First off I'm an IT, don't listen to the comment below from Mike stating that it Does not support 3.5-Inch SATA, only full sized SATA drives. He obviously doesn't know what he's doing. I'm not sure what a full size SATA drive is but, there are 2 primary internal hard drive sizes, 2.5 inch, for laptops, and 3.5 inch, for desktops, and they're normally either IDE or SATA connection types, if it's not 1 of these it's SCSI, but that's rare. This item fits all 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA and IDE drive types. |

Doesn't support 3.5-Inch Sata
Comment:
Bought this to transfer data off a laptop hard drive. Unfortunately for me the description is misleading and it DOES NOT support 3.5-Inch Sata drives. Only full size SATA drives. |

Worked perectly
Comment:
I needed to recover files on a sata drive that wouldn't boot. This device worked fine to give me access to the files that were recoverable. I tried to use it on both XP and Vista, and both worked fine, although Vista required some extra work due to UAC. |

Excellent Product
Comment:
Works as advertised. Out of the box connected to a SATA drive and pops up in system just like a USB drive because it is. Disconnected and used IDE and it's a USB drive also. Able to access data on the stack of hard drives without having to mount each one. A real time saver... |

Worth Every Penny
Comment:
I am a music collector and have several drives with music on them. I used this unit to connect them and saved all of the music. I even have a drive that is partially damaged. I am right now using my iMac to get the music off of the part that is still usable. My Windows computers didn't even know there was music on the drive. With this unit and my iMac, it did the trick. |

Amazing product
Comment:
This ide-sata to usb adapter has been very practical. Didn't know until a few months ago that it existed. Have used it to get info off three old harddisks, as I need them. A small drawback: it gets warm easily. (That may not be a problem). On the other hand, I do not need to leave it plugged in for hours or days. Overall very happy with my purchase. |

Love this piece of genius. easy to use. I'm the first on the block to have one and everybody knows it. Ive already rescued 3 drives from the garbage heap. You can save a bunch of bucks with this guy. Your imagination is the only drawback on using it (no imagination no use) |
I recovered all my data from my crashed hard drive, I was elated, to say the least!
