Ultra USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Cable Adapter

I gave 3 star only to be fair, since I only tried I one IDE hard drive so far. My computer loaded a driver when I connected the USB, but I could never get to the drive to see and transfer files. I have Windows 7, and all my USB controller drivers are current. I understood this would let me use the hard drive as an external drive, which means I shouldn't have to change any motherboard or BIOS settings.

I wasn't going to say anything but since I had a little trouble with the installation. So I would say this, I think is a good product and easy to use if you know what you are doing otherwise you will go through the pain and frustration of not knowning why Windows can't make the drive visible in Windows explorer.

This product works like a champ. A recent laptop crash caused me to purchase this cable so that I could recover files still on the hard-drive. A simple plug and play cable allowed me to see and recover every file still on the hard-drive with ease - much cheaper (and quicker) than taking the hard-drive elsewhere to have the same thing accomplished.

had one before, but power supply died, so ordered this one, but it didn't work out of the box. Have since found a cheaper unit on Ebay and works great.

Honestly, it just works right out of the box and does everything you expect it to do. I cloned my old hard drive (80 gigs) in about an hour and a half and so far every time i plug in a drive, it works great.

Connected it to a 2.5 inch IDE drive removed from my laptop and it worked. This is a very good item to have around in case it is required.

Out of the box I was able to not only open and recover critical files I thought were lost forever, I was able to then use the old drive as a backup to store newer files. The true test came, however when I dug out a drive from a computer that died back in 1999. I plugged it in and nothing happened. Could hear drive running, but nothing on screen. I just let it sit and after about 3 minutes - there it was. I was able to open and work with contents as easily as if it was a USB Thumb drive. An essential item for everyone who owns a computer. These guys are definately on my Christmas card list!

Worked perfectly out of the box. Enabled me to recover all data from hard drive of dead HP notebook. (Note old hard drive and destination computer were both running Windows XP).

Had a broken desktop with 2(two) 3.5 inch ATA 160GB WD HDD's that couldn't be accessed. Did some research about Cable's and chose Ultra USB 2.0 to IDE SATA Cable. Was not disappointed. Was able to hook on in few minutes without any instructions and it worked like a charm. Great product at a good price. Save some important data.

I hooked up an 80GB SATA 3.5 inch drive to do a virus scan with my laptop. It worked flwlessly and the data transfer was very fast. This is a nice tool to have for just such an emergency.

My desktop's hard drive became inaccessible after Windows became corrupted. I pulled the drive, used this to connect it to my laptop via the USB port and recovered all my data. It was fast, easy and the best data recovery investment I've ever made.

Update your harddrive and have the old one too. Both my laptops recognized it as another drive. This will replace an enclosure I have now that only worked on 3.5

Works just as advertised. Used it to clone hard drive for another laptop that had failed. Installed beautifully. I agree that mechanically, product is a bit cheap, but with care, should last for a number of years. I really appreciated the external power supply which saved me a lot of grief searching for power.

Works just as it says. The construction of the product felt a bit cheap but hasn't broken. Used it to transfer data from an old laptop HD to my new HD. Worked seamlessly and has many port options.

this is very disappointing as over 90% of the reviews seem very favorable. But I cannot get it to recognize a drive at all. The HDD is an IDE primary master drive in a PC and works fine, but this product does not recognize it when connected to a laptop or even my high end work pc. The power to the drive is on, the green light on the hdd connector is on, but there is nothing in My Computer. I even did a

This cable set worked great for being able to work with my crashed notebook 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, on my desktop machine. A few weeks later, I used it again to examine a 3.5 SATA drive from a RAID box. It also came in handy attaching an old IDE drive from a dead computer to my wife's new desktop, and transferring her old files to the new computer.

I mistakenly purchased a 320Gb SATA drive about a year ago and my computers don't use SATA. Now I can use the SATA drive to store a back-up of my Video Files. Also now with this product I have begun to use extra raw internal hard drives at convenient back-up solutions. Using even small hard drives to segregate different types of files on separate raw external hard drives. Perfect for back-up solutions.

My seven year old computer died and my decision was to buy a new one. I had backed up all my files and installed them into the new machine. Soon I realized that I had failed to backup two very important files. This product was a lifesaver. Within minutes of connecting it to my old hard drive, I copied the files into the new computer without any problem. I would highly recommend this product.
