Ultra USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Cable Adapter

Happy with item, someone mentioned that this product would not work with their laptop HD. This product will work with older (non-sata) 2.5 ide laptop drives.

This adapter worked very well. Everything in the box to make it work. Took me 15 minutes to set up and use. Note: read the instructions first. A 2.5 inch drive does not use the power cable. My IDE drive was detected immediately and was able to save everything to my other hard drive. No problems. Anyone who uses a hard drive should have one. ALW

Product works exactly as described. I wish I had bought a couple of them. I can now reuse my old smaller-capacity drives for backups or whatever I want without having to shut off my computer and go through the annoyance of disconnecting and reconnecting internal cables. For the price (I paid 19.95 during a promo) you can't beat it for functionality. This is not really a con, but it takes the system a while to recognise the USB interface when u connect it. Just be patient though, it works well.

I do some computer work for others and it was beginning to become a pain to constantly open my case and install other hard drives to save their documents and such. Then I purchased this product. Plugged it in and worked without any issues, both in Windows XP and Windows 7 as well. I was able to do what it was I needed to do and saved time too!

Love it. Works with DVD drive, Sata, and IDE. I have it hooked up to an internal rack with removable drawers. Awesome. Making images of my HDD for backup couldn't be easier now.

This is a neat and simple to use set up! Great for accessing information on a hard drive that you need information from or want to use for an external back up drive! Good for diagnostic work on hard drives with out having to open the computer and attached one on the inside just to test it! Good price! One star knocked off for the power molex plug as it is very tight to put on and take off of hard drives; but not too tight that it cannot be done! A little looser would have been better. Still a great deal!

This product did exactly what I purchased it to do, it made possible the retrieval of data and files from a non compatable hard drive. I am running Win XP Pro and was able to retrieve my files from a hard drive with ME as the OS. Works great. Also can be used with a hard drive as a mass storage device for back up. It works with Sata and Pata drives. I am happy with this device, great tool for anyone that does their own computer repairs and the serious technician. Tom

This item is the best ever made! I have had it for about a month, and it works perfectly. One of my friend's computer caught a virus, and the computer wouldn't boot up. I simply hooked the hard drive up to another computer, and I was able to access that hard drive through the USB connection within seconds. I love this product, and wouldn't leave it anywhere. The price is perfect too, an excellent deal. Perfect for storing and retrieving data from any device, whether it is a hard drive, or can even use an optical device such as a CD-ROM drive as well. A computer repair tech's best friend!

I bought one of these last fall, lasted 1 day. They replaced it no ?'s. Now the second one has failed and I have only used it 4 or 5 times. Now I will have to pull the receipt and check with Ultra on getting it replaced. Handy device when it works!

Used it to test the hard drive from an external drive that had ceased to function and it turned out to be the interface in the enclosure that had failed. Bought a new enclosure and the hard drive works just fine. Great diagnostic tool.

I did not give it 5 stars for quality only because my box was missing two items: the SATA-ribbon-cable and the power-adaptor-cable (4-pin power to SATA power); otherwise no complains.

Let me clarify something first - the ONLY reason I gave a 3 on features is because the unit does only what it is designed for - and it does exactly what it was advertised to do - so it met my expectations precisely rather than exceeding them. Qualifying statements aside, this unit has been GREAT! I've had no trouble using it at all and it's come in very handy. I highly recommend it.

I tried on a 2.5 and 3.5 drives. I could see the drives but could not read the data on them. Both drives work perfectly in their normal location.
