TECH SUPPORT ALERT. EVERYTHING regarding the purchase and delivery of this product from Tiger Direct was PERFECT. The router's wired and wireless features work fine. With refurbished models, however, Netgear's policy is that there is no serial number on the bottom of the appliance (so you CANNOT register ANY refurbished product on Netgear's web site and you cannot buy a serial number-they suggest buying a new model), there is no installation CD in the package and the ONLY support available is via email (not even premium support @ $35 per 30 minute episode).

After spending a weekend of total frustration trying to get this ''easy to set up'' router to work, sending numerous emails to NetGear support, I called up a local professional who sets up networks for a living. He told me that although it was possible to get this unit to work with Verizon DSL, I should be prepared to spend hours on the phone with Verizon tech support because it wouldn't be easy. So I returned it. Hard to believe that NetGear doesn't know that their hardware isn't readily compatible with certain systems, but they don't. So I definitely do not recommend this unit.

I am amazed by this router. Even though it took me a minute to figure out how to set it up, it has been the best router ever. I'M SO GLAD I GOT RID OF DLINK!!!!!!

I bought a re-certified item but I couldn't be happier. It took just minutes to get it running and it is so much faster than my older D-link! My wireless coverage is WWAAYY better than with my previous router as well. Excellent item! What would you need the software for?

I was in love with my USR8054 till one day it just stop working so I needed a replacement that could stand up to the pressure of everyday uploading and downloading. well seeing that the price was low I felt I'd give this a try. Well yes I read the reviews but as soon as I connected my computer and turned every thing on it went to it's built in setup wizard and that took all of maybe 5 minutes to do. It won't allow me to change the channel manually but it has been working flawlessly. No software came with it but at this price who can complain You will be receiving a Top Quality piece of equipment. That does the leg work for you and not a bad job either. I really appreciate tigerdirect for having this deal, they're always on point. Keep up the Good Work.

This is the first router I've owned and first that I've ever set up. Doesn't come with the disk but all you have to do is plug your dsl/cable modem in to the WAN port and your computer into one of the open LAN ports. Then make sure your computer is set to acquire the IP address automatically and that DHCP is enabled. Then open Internet explorer and the router login should automatically come up. If not type 192.168.1.1 into the browser to log in. Make sure you get the firmware update. This is a great router, wonderful range, looks good, and easy to set up if you follow the guide. 5 stars from me.

I just got this today. It took me a while to figure out how to get the thing setup because it didn't come with the installation cd. Read this thread to find out how to do it. (Easy once read how!) http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?p=270 The router ran for a few minutes, but then kept dropping the wireless signal. I tried multiple devices and same thing. I am very disappointed but it was cheap and I guess you are taking a chance with a refurbished item like this. Hopefully the next one works when I get it.

Good router, kind of big, but okay. had problems with trying to track it, (CA buyers don't try to track! it will say thats its been delivered but it hasn't. don't worry. it will usually come the same day. it says that)came on the set day. it took 2 hours to get it to work,( all you have to do is update the firmware), but overall good router. a little hot on the running. and great value.

Router works great - but download and install the firmware upgrade before setting it up. It is on the neatgear website it is a .chk file and you don't need to open the file. Just login to the router and follow the instructions.

Great unit, One flaw, The range out sid the house is worse than the old router, and Since I like to enjoy my back yard and the internet, I was not hapy, But I set it near the window I am peachy. the lights are kida fun, and eliminated the need for a night light in my kitchen any more. But you can turn them off. Seems to get very warm but I put a notebook cooling fan under it and the modem and all is right in the world. But all together a very good product for the money

It is true there is no included software, but you don't NEED any. Just log into the router and there is a setup wizard, the manual describes how. Support is a little more difficult for refurbished Netgear products. Go to http://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/support.asp and click on 'continue' right underneath ''If you do not wish to register at this time or your product does not have a serial number please click here to continue.''

AMAZING deal! True it doesn't come with software, but you do not need it! I noticed a huge boost in the speed and range of my home wireless network. You can still use this to get up and running with wired networking even without the software. After that, just go on netgear's site and get the software for it (despite what people say, the software is not in any weird format that doesn't work, it works fine. At least on windows XP) just keep in mind that to change the network settings in the wizard menu, a password and account name are required. You find out by going to netgear's website that the user name is automatically set to ''admin'' and the password is automatically set to ''password'' for ALL routers they produce. Get one, they work great!

This thing is awesome yes it does not come with software but if you dont know much about routers it will be difficult. But even then it has instructions on the back. Took me less than five minutes. I was skeptical since it didnt have external antennas but it has wider range than my old linksys.

I bought it thinking it is a good deal. I am so happy I did. It is very easy to install. Just plug and play. No installation CD needed. The wireless signal is very good.

It's a great product for the price once you get it started working that is. It does not come with any software because it is a refurbished product. but the information with the router could be a little clearer. But once you get your computer to recognize it the software installs easily. but not from the main netgear site as stated but from an IP http address. Other than that I highly recommend the product. 4 STARS

Took me less than 30 minutes to have everything up and running. The signal strength is a least 50% greater than my old 'g' router. Using just the g built in receiver in my notebook it also seems faster. Great buy!

I couldn't be happier with this Netgear router, for a first timer, it was simple and fast to hook up. I had the wireless network working in less than a half an hour in my home. I was immediately able to pick up the connection and it is the strongest connection I have ever picked up with in any network, connecting at 108 mpbs. Overall I am extremely happy with this router. The blue lights are an added bonus which get to be a bit bright, but it does come with a nice little cover for those who don't care for them. Bravo to Netgear and bravo to Tiger Direct for such a great deal. Thanks!!
