Great Price
Comment:
I normaly don't use Netgear products...But this price forced me to try them again. Not the easiest to install but with a little work and two or three restarts it work fine. Nice range on the wifi too. This is not for the newbe user. Got to have patience.

It works
Comment:
If you need to add WiFi to a computer, then this is a good, fast, cheap solution. However the unit is rather large and feels cheap. Well worth the money.

Netgear dropped the ball on this one
Comment:
This wireless adapter looks great in theory; low price and solid feature list. However, the device doesn't have the full support of Netgear on this; there is no driver included with the product (you have to go online for it; kind of impossible seeing as this is purchased as a means to get online), and the driver software is broken. Just search for "WPN111" and see what people have to say about it; I am a netgear fan, most of the time, but Netgear must've been out of the office when this was created. Go for a desktop card, a PCI card, or one of the N USB cards if you really have to; they'll be better supported and be compatible for longer.

Only drawback is you have to download your own drivers, no disc provided.

good price for a budget item
Comment:
In order to work with Win7 64-bit, you need to download the driver from Netgear. The one for Vista 64 works fine. The signal gets cut-off sometimes but the overall performance is acceptable.

Hot to the touch!!!
Comment:
Well i am not picky about wifi adapters but this changes my perspective i plug this guy in and it takes a good 10 mins before i have to unplug and replug it back in then its fine but after a hour or two it drops the connection then its hot to the touch like i cant touch it at all brought a flat thermometer it read a good 110F so i tossed it out so much for ten dollars and don't need to start a house fire by any means.

Junk
Comment:
Signal cuts out after 15 minutes no matter what I try. Shouldn't have to be this much hassle to keep a steady connection. I had an airlink usb network adapter that worked flawless in vista and xp that was pretty much plug in, and it worked. Only reason I ordered this is becaused it broke while i was moving my computer, which was my fault. Learned my lesson, don't go cheap. I'm getting another airlink.

Works well-easy setup
Comment:
I am using this adapter on a Compaq Presario 1830 running Kubuntu Linux. Couldn't find a native Linux driver for it. I installed ndiswrapper, then DL'd the Win-driver from the Netgear site (no driver CD included with order) and installed that thru wine/CrossOver. Once the .inf file installed, I selected it in ndiswrapper. After a restart, the adapter lit up and worked like a charm-no command-line config needed (of course, YMMV). My old wireless-G adapter was PCMCIA, and the USB version seems to have a much greater range. Maybe it has a more modern radio...Typical bandwidth 54+ Mb/sec. All in all, good value for the price.

Not bad but not great
Comment:
I had a difficult time getting the adapter to work, I downloaded all the versions on Netgear's website. Installed and removed each over and over trying different combinations until I eventually settled on the 1.1 drivers and the Windows XP native wireless software, it was the first set that worked. I needed a way to connect a desktop whose ethernet port stopped working. I have been able to only get transfer speeds up to about 7 meg, not the full 56 that my 'g' router supports. My dsl speed is 1.5 so no biggy.

I purchased this product a while ago to replace D-link wireless adapter to upgrade status connection and it works fine and great. it used to on (low status) connection and it slows to pop up on the screen. I'm very satified with this product and recommend to anyone who has similar problem.

Good Netgear product
Comment:
Easy to use once the wireless network is setup to acknowledge the device. If you are using WEP security make sure you add the MAC number to the Setup Access List, makes it easier to connect thru.

This adapter does the job it's suppose to do, but at times it gets way too hot and for some reason the signal may cut out. I have had to take it out a few times to let it cool in order to use it again. I guess as long as you don't have it in all day. It works just fine. Other than that it's great. Installation of drivers was a breeze.

Excellent Value
Comment:
I will mention first, this adapter did not come with software. Merely a minor inconvenience. After a few minutes searching for and downloading software from the product website, the adapter was running wonderfully. I AM able to reach the advertised speed of 108Mbps on my local network and have yet to have any slowdowns or outages. The unit itself does run a bit hot but it hasn't become a problem. An excellent buy.

I bought two of these and had only one issue. They would not work with the NetGear sofware, but worked immediately when I switched to the native Windows configuration. haven't had a problem since.

Great Price, runs hot as a firecracker
Comment:
The WPN111 works well enough. The setup was easy, but it gets very hot and sometimes it fails (due to the heat, I think), but it starts working again in a short time. Considering the price, I have no regrets.

It'll get ya surfin without wires
Comment:
After hopping online, downloading the drivers, following the instructions, and a little kajiggering, I unplugged and surfed wirelessly. I bought this to use in my carputer project since it's so small and all. Setting up my connection was a little difficult, but I beleive all of the fiddling required was due to the fact that I have some security measures on my router, I refuse to share band-width with the neighbors, they can buy their own. At any rate, it works great now that it's set up. It does get a little warm after a while, but seems to continue functioning just fine. Great price on a convenient piece of gear. If I do another build soon enough, I hope they have some left.

buy this now
Comment:
What a great usb adaptor for wireless hookup, better yet it's a rangemax. This is such a good value (way below retail) and with rangemax it has a great signal pickup. I don't have a N router yet but I will be ready when I do. I liked my first one so much that I had to go back and buy several more, one for my brother.
