Great price! Reliable brand name!
Comment:
Since this is refurbished, I didn't expect much and when I plugged it in my new PC with Windows 7, for some weird reasons, my PC didn't automatically install the driver software like it did at my friend's house with his new PC and also with Windows 7. Anyway, I downloaded the driver from Netgear web site and after I installed it, it took a little bit for my PC to detect this adapter and then it works beautifully! Really fast speed! One nice thing is that it came with an USB extension so that this USB wireless adapter won't take room of another empty USB port! I'm happy with this purchase!

Outstanding adapter
Comment:
I needed a wireless adapter that would work with Windows XP x64, this is one of the few I found that would. Then a family members laptop developed problems with the built in wireless, bought another one. Both of them have worked great with no problems and easy install.

Right On
Comment:
This item is right on. I've got an older(2003 HP) running windows xp home sp3. Plugged the silly thing in, and it went directly to work. It seems to be faster than my 35' hard wire. Got a second for my son.

For Linux
Comment:
I noticed that some people here wondered how well it works with Linux. This is a 108 g device. That usually means that it uses the Atheros chipset. Support for this device is built-in the kernel. So it's basically plug n play for Linux. I've had this as a spare for a few years. I bought it refurbished then and it's still working flawlessly. Any time I plug it in to any system I need to it works perfectly. Signal strength I will admit is a bit weak. For the price you can't go wrong at all. The above is for Linux only since I don't use windows at all.

Excellent Deal
Comment:
Brought one of these 'recertified' about 5 months ago and have used it on at least 9 different machines without a single problem, fantastic deal even if you do have to go download the software for it.

Bad Experiences
Comment:
Shipped without installation guide or CD. Unable to work in Windows ME in Compaq Presario 1200. I downloaded and installed the drivers from Netgear. No Luck !! This has been the most frustrating experience in my 30 years of working with computers....

Did not come with software
Comment:
This is a REFURBISHED item, though it does not say so anywhere I looked besides comments (after I bought it). No software - must plod through Netgear's site, but the software will not run on my XP SP3 machine - the icon shows up on the desktop, but doesn't open anything when clicked. I'm a nerd, and I've been working on this for over an hour with no result. Basically, DOA. Will repost if successful. XP asks for ''AR5523.sys'' which is apparently not provided on any of the N-gear software packs, nor searchable on their website. Teh suxor.

NOT CLEAR THAT ITEM IS REFURBISHED
Comment:
I did not realise that this item was refurbished, whatever that means. As far as I could guess, someone bought it before. It did not work. It was returned. It was repackaged and sold as refurbished. It still did not work, but it cost me the shipping charges

Works great with Windows 7 - Runs Hot
Comment:
Plug and play with Windows 7. Connects up to the Windows auto update site and downloads the standard driver. I recommend allowing windows to manage the wireless connection rather than installing the manufacturers bloatware. The only thing I noticed is that the adapter run hotter than most. I ordered two of these and they are both running hotter than you would expect so it must be part of the design. Other than that, it seems to be a good buy.

Ugh
Comment:
Gets just 56 percent signal in one room over from the router. This is in a mobile home. Probably will spend more next time for better quality. Also, had to download drivers from website before I could even use it, since it doesn't come with driver cd.

It worked fine for me!
Comment:
I've read reviews about them getting hot. I work in electronics, and what might seem warm to the hand is not really all that hot. Anyway, I was picking up signals from all over the neighborhood. Granted, slightly low in signal, but I bought it for a future use. It was well worth the price, and it installed easily on my older laptop.

Set this up with my laptop along with a Netgear wireless router on the desktop, and I was up and running in just minutes. A great cheap solution to wireless networking.

Hard to complain ($60 list price)
Comment:
Fast shipping, installed easy (XP laptop), works great, easy to run software. Good signal for a teeny dongle antenna. Came in a brown box and instructions to download the driver. If you can't get on the net to download, you're up the creek until you do, just warning you. Apple drivers are $15 extra from Netgear; no mention of Linux drivers. That sucks.

You get what you pay for
Comment:
Bought it on a whim because I needed a cheap wireless card for an old computer. Works mostly fine, but I barely even use that computer really. If you're looking for a card for a main computer or if you're setting up a home network I would say to invest in something a bit better than this.

Good Overall
Comment:
It works exactly as I expected. It's not as strong as an internal card but it picks up the neighbor's signal fine :P Also to note: I'm using Windows 7 and it installed instantly and perfectly when I plugged it in. I recommend it if you want an affordable good wireless USB card.
