This is a well made unit and has many good features. there are only 2 things lacking for me: 1 I would like to see the compass on the display during a "Where To" rather that just on "View Map". And 2 The Traffic Alert only seem to work on major highways and toll roads. Oyhr that that it is a great tool.

The text to speech instructions are great and tell you in time when and where to turn. You can not alter the route manually before you travel like some other GPS but it is quick to recalculate to another route but even that may not be the best route. There are some settings under tools/setting/nav you may want to try. I have used it in NC, SC, and NE and will use it soon in So.CA. I wish there was an option for compass as I have only seen a compass show up one time after a trip. Overtime it will learn the route you want to take but then what need is there for a GPS? In NE it wouldn't take me to the road but to a dead end near it and told me to go off road. The bluetooth is fair but I'd rather use an earpiece or more safer not even answer the phone. I like how you can input your destination through Google Maps. No problem with volume. Use these GPS units as a tool/toy not as a replacement to the good old map. Go to RS for a case around $15.

First GPS ; but looked at alot of them before getting a 265wt. Easy to use and very satisfied on how it works. Now I do not have to print out a map for the Wife and I Ha Ha don't have to ask for direction for the shortest route. JAKE

I like the Garmin for its traffic feature.. it's useful if you may have three or four different routes to get to your destination during rush hour and need to figure out which is the quickest, though local roads and conditions (e.g. ramp meters and snow) aren't accounted for. Good excuse to bring the GPS even if you are commuting.

I bought this for my dad as a Christmas gift. He's one of those ''old schoolers'' that isn't very tech savy as me. He found this unit to be easy to use and really likes it. I'll be looking on getting one for myself to update from my GPS V from way back.

Bought this, my 2nd GPS (the other being a Navigon 2100T), very nice unit but there seems to be a problem with the sound dropping when starting a trip. I have volume set to 80% but when starting a trip it drops to a level where you can barely hear it. If I pause the trip, go to the volume control, don't do anything but hit 'Ok' then go back to the trip everything is fine. If I start a 2nd leg, or go home the volume drops again and I have to do the same trick to get it back to my set vol. I upgraded to all the latest firmware/software as of Christmas.

This is the first GPS for us so I have nothing to compare it to but I love it. Went on a trip from western PA to RI the first day I got it and it was great. Recalculated very quickly if we missed a turn. Haven't used the bluetooth yet. I feel very secure traveling anywhere with this GPS.

Unit works great, little slow searching for custom poi's and the blue tooth isn't that good, can hardly hear from it but other than that the unit is fast and accurate
