GARMIN nüvi 265WT 4.3" GPS with FM Live traffic
Cons: ridiculous price for map and updates from Garmin, poor software from Garmin, no even close to TomTom , lousy battery life

Pros: large screen
Comment:
I have had this unit a few months and generally it works okay. One thing you will notice if you test it on a known route , in all modes of routing , its is not always optimal but generally gets you there. My biggest beef is the software and updates and extra map pricing from Garmin which is ludicrous. The PC software is cumbersome and dated looking. The battery life isn't that great so this is for use where a power source is available but that can be expected since this is a road navigation unit.Having seen a friends Tom Tom in action at about the same price point , hands down , Garmin have slipped badly compared.

GARMIN nüvi 265WT 4.3" GPS with FM Live traffic
Cons: Traffic updates are intermittent and unreliableBluetooth handfree really doesn't work wellMaps are OK but navigation sometimes starts elsewhere (see below)No lane controlOccasionally confusing directions

Pros: Quick to calculate routes
Comment:
I got this unit last year and have been overall quite pleased with it, that was until I was in a car recently with a friend who has a TomTom. Ow I just want to sell it and buy one of those. If you're going to buy a Garmin, I would suggest you buy a later model. This one does work and will get you to your destination, however I have found a few annoying 'quirks', e.g.- When on a Freeway it will say 'keep right' when it actually means 'turn right'. This can be annoying as often 'keep right' means just that - keep right and don't exit.- Sometimes navigation starts at a road near to one you are on, not at your exact location. I find this bizarre, as the on screen map will show where you are and the roads leading to the start of your route, just won't provide you direction on how to get there. Maybe I am picky, but I would expect the GPS to start routing at my exact location, not test me!- It doesn't have lane control. This is a huge advantage if you are driving on complex road systems (i.e. most US roads) - Maps aren't as detailed as the TomTom. I was with a friend and his TomTom had FAR better maps, even including the car park of the customer we were visiting. Again the Garmin started my route a few junctions away.- The bluetooth functionality works OK if the car is stationary. If you're moving don't expect the other party to hear you.- The traffic system works over FM, when it works. I found it works probably 30% of the time, and even then it's only 50% accurate. It's also ad-supported which is highly annoying as the last thing I want to see is an advert for Best Western hotels.Overall I recommend you buy a unit with lane control, text-to-speech and avoid all the other features as they are unnecessary and don't work well. In my limited experience TomTom seems to have better maps and functionality for a lower price. Finally - I would probably buy a non-widescreen version next time as well.

Very Impressed
Comment:
I have had two other GPS's in the past and this is definitely the easiest to use. A nice clear display that is easy to cusomize. Updating the maps from Garmin was a snap and went without a hitch. The current maps are very up to date because we live in a new area and all the streets are present. Be prepared because it is a huge download. My last GPS was a Magellan and updates were a pain to say the least. With the Garmin loading a POI worked the first try. When you make an incorrect turn the recalculation is fast! Other GPS's would take much too long especially when you are in busy traffic. The only thing I found that is a minus for me is that the Garmin doesn't let you select a previous city like the Magellan (at least I didn't find anything like that yet) so that means you have to spell out the city again. Although usually after you have typed the first few letters it comes up with a list of suggestions.

Worth the full price and even better at discount
Comment:
This GPS has a clear and easy to read screen with very vivid colors and great colors for night driving. It gives excellent voice prompts with enough cues to keep your eyes on the road and not on the unit. The best feature is that there is no lag between the prompts and your position. It is dead on every turn, every time. I highly recommend this unit as the quality exceeds the price.

Good value, but...
Comment:
Good value, though it was about $50.00 cheaper before Christmas. The voice announcing to, ''turn right on Main Street'' is much better than, ''turn right.'' The widescreen format makes it much easier to use without blocking too much more than a standard size screen. The Bluetooth is marginal, but the fact that it will call destinations that you are going to is cool. Like all GPS, this has its quirks. Occasionally, it'll tell me the destination is on the wrong side of the street. Also, if you know your way around, you probably know better routes to get where you're going. That being said, it will get you where you are going. Lifetime map update subscription is pricey, but necessary if you plan on going anywhere streets are being added.

Great Auto Accessory
Comment:
This device works geat for my wife, she does not like navigating freeway driving. When she needs to travel for work into areas she not familiar with it gives her the help she needs. Easy for her to program and use. I like the way you can customize the voices and vehicles using the Garmin web site. Great features at a good price.

Comment:
This 265WT works exactly as promised. I love the touch screen. It works first time on the touch. No pressing repeatedly required! It's bright and easy to read. Controls are very intuitive (I don't like reading op manuals anyway). Highly recommend it.

Great value
Comment:
If it would only start in less than 5 seconds (instead of about the 15 that it does take). It's easy to use, the POI's are really extensive, and the traffic capability is still amazing after a month of using this GPS.

One of the best GPS for the price
Comment:
What a truly wonderful experienced, the GPS works well and will guide you point to point. The volume is a little low though but aside from that it is perfect. When you download the voice from Garmin website, it solves the problem but it does not speak street names anymore when you choose to use the uploaded voice. Anyway, those are minor flaws of the product, what count most is the functionability and convenience you'll be getting from the product. Love the bluetooth and traffic alert.

Used it on 2 trips recently, and the directions there and back were perfect. Easy to see display (that changes background colors at dusk & dawn so you can see it better), clear voice & you can adjust volume. Lists state parks, gas stations, etc. Has neat Go Home feature. Very pleased with this product!

Good deal
Comment:
Bought this one for CAD 157 on boxing sale. It took more than two weeks to arrive. Overall it works but Bluetooth feature is not that smooth. Many times it is not able to connect the phone and I have to register it again. Occasionally the maps or direction seems like stuck for few minutes and then come back. Good value for the buck but definitely NOT the best product in GPS domain.

GPS works like a charm, simple to use. Like waypoint feature. Bluetooth handsfree cell phone connecting also simple and works great though sound quality leaves something to be desired. Not bad though! Suits me to a tee.

Best Product at Great Sale Price
Comment:
Easy order and fast no problem shipping. Had long put off buying navigator. Kept using Google maps in advance of travel around L.A. areas, but discovered that this is much easier and faster to use than Google maps. Having a choice of response voices is nice idea. Bluetooth phone speakerphone is great addition that connects quickly and is easier to use than other products I have tried. Have not yet set up a couple of extra features, but have had no problem at all with what I have done so far. Have updated features as advised. That required a long download but there were no stumbles. Even my wife who usually does not like tech items thinks this is the greatest aid there is. Buy it. You will like it.

Great Overall Buy
Comment:
I ordered it for my husband for Christmas on the 22nd and it arrived in time, with free ground shipping no less. It is his first GPS and the 4.3 screen is great. Easy to see. Voice is clear and easy to follow. It didn't pick up signal in the house but as soon as it was outside it picked them right up. I also bought year extended warranty because everything seems to go south just as the warranty expires, just in case. I only paid for $159.99 for a new unit. I did tons of research but didn't want to pay too much. When I saw that price I couldn't pass it up. It's not needed on a daily basis but when you do need it it's much better than trying to look up directions before you leave on a trip.
