AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Comment:
- Rapidly! Substantial upgrade from my Athlon II Regor 250. Runs the most recent games without having hiccup.- Value. Fantastic bang for the buck, especially considering that I'm upgrading an current AM3 motherboard.- Quad Core. A nice advantage for multi-threaded apps (i.e. video encoding).- 6mb L3 cache. This is what makes a Phenom a Phenom. Much more on cpu cache indicates much less time waiting on RAM or hard disk access (I know most neweggers know this!). - Like other reviewers stated: LOUD stock cooler! Soon after installing this cpu cooler my gaming Computer sounds like a rack of servers! Come on AMD. In my opinion this is the only con to the Phenom. I'm going to have to purchase an aftermarket cpu cooler for this cpu because it makes my bedroom sound like a server space. Hold this in thoughts... it might boost the total value of your buy.

Cons:weak compared to todays processors, runs a bit hot on air.

Pros:Still rocking same as the day I got it
Comment:
Still rocking as day one, only complain it runs a bit hot on air, which tends to make the fans loud, but switching it with antec 920 solved the problem. Been 2 to 3 years since I got this CPU, and its still working like a charm.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:It was a pain to install the hardware

Pros:Fan is quietPowerful enough even for though usesDoes not overheatMultithreading works great
Comment:
Great processor, and even better for the value. I was on a budget and chose AMD over Intel. I do not regret this decision. It was at 90$ in November 2012, less than half the price of a similar Intel CPU. Paired with my 1GB video card, it runs games very satisfactorily, albeit not at max graphics. However, it was a pain to get it to clip unto the motherboard. You must apply a lot of pressure (only use hands please!), I was worried it would break, but it didn't.

This is a fairly great CPU for the price. I replaced my Athlon 64 X2 2.8ghz with this CPU, not significantly of a performance improve. I mean it was quicker don't get me wrong, it was just not the increase I was hunting for (minus the egg). Don't let this discourage you from acquiring if you are on a budget develop, it's a actually fantastic CPU. None really. If you are hunting for a gaming CPU on an AMD platform, you are undoubtedly much better off paying the extra 60-one hundred bucks for a six-core.

Considerably cooler (same watercooling method on each). Expenses money. This has been a pleasure to OC with. Only a couple days and stable at 4. GHz ྴ.0X CPU Multi, 200 FSB), 1.4750 V. This unit does what is says it will do. 7.four on windows index. This is plenty for fairly a lot any individual. Effectively there are these that want beyond what they will ever use. 7.5 windows index @ three.9GHZ. This processor runs hot. I went even though 2 circumstances and a RMA. Initially chip ran at 63 C in 5 mins on prime 95 with stock fan. 1st case ran incredibly hot on stock cooling. Upgraded my case and was nonetheless a bit hot. Bought an soon after market fan. Now it runs like a champ. More than clocked to three.9 on stock voltage. Runs about 10C lower than than stock cooling with over clock. Get an after industry if you want to overclock!!! Possibly a case as well. Excellent processor for the value. It runs hot so make positive you have a lot of cooling. Btw, I reside in Michigan. If I more than heat with a mid size tower on stock, so will you anyplace else just about. Well it didn't shut down, but way too hot for me for stock.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Fan is pretty loud at full load;Old(ish) technology;Inefficient power consumption in comparison to similar performers on the Intel side;Not the very best AM2+/AM3;

Pros:Good price for a good chip;Overclocks to 4Ghz stable on stock voltage & cooling--an 18% increase;Faster than most (if not all) similarly priced CPUs;
Comment:
Was going for the fastest thing I could find for my AM3 (but not AM3+) motherboard. There are faster chips out there but they're hard to come by/expensive nowadays.Am really happy with this chip. Especially after OCing. While I didn't think I would, I noticed a huge difference between this and an AMD Athlon 2 Quad c3Ghz.This seems to be the sweet spot for a 75-100 dollar CPU right now. It's not perfect (power consumption, high fan noise), but gets 5/5 for its value to performance ratio.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Comment:
This 1 is not defective, and Newegg didn't hassle me when I needed an RMA. The RMA procedure was quick and uncomplicated. This CPU is running at 4.0Ghz, 1.475v, and by no means passes 46c, even when SMP folding or playing Crysis. The 1st a single I received was defective. I couldn't enable C&Q, even at stock settings, without having getting bluescreens every single time it tried to drop to low energy state. OCing was also out of the query, as something above stock speed induced crashes, and anything over stock volts brought on the temp to raise dramatically. It just seemed silly to have a Black Edition CPU that couldn't do any better than stock, and couldn't use power saving functions either. I'm satisfied with the replacement CPU. It's quick adequate, stable, and does what I need to have it to do. With that stated, the price tag just isn't ideal for these any additional. Intel has faster parts at comparable rates, which also run cooler and more efficiently. AMD requires to get BD to market place, or at least drop the rates on their recent offerings to remain competitive. There is just no reason to select an AMD CPU right now.

Extremely fast. I upgraded from a single-core, 64 bit AMD processor running at 2.2 Ghz, and this is noticeably quicker, specially with video editing and game software (e.g., Crysis).The stock heatsink and fan seem additional than adequate at keeping the chip cool, and the fan is quiet, too. None. As in the past, I've identified that AMD gives a superior speed per dollar ratio, and runs anything I want it to.

I got this on Black Friday for $69.97, a good upgrade to my AM3 platform which is in its last leg. This cup is fast if you do video encoding, pair it with a modern video card, you can still play modern games without any problem, should prolong the life of my platform for at least another year or two.
