Review Misconceptions
Comment:
I received this unit so quickly from here that it almost made my head spin. Thanks! As for the unit, I had no issues with the installation. At first, I could not connect to the Internet but once I reset the cable company's modem after installing the router, that issue was resolved. I've been connected since with no problems. My wife's laptop connected wirelessly with no problems and my son's game system, which is wired, Gave me no trouble either. I expected to have to reset my entire network but only had to reconnect using the new password. I was very nervous about this unit after reading so many bad reviews. I must say that I take those reviews with a very large grain of salt. Certainly someone is going to get a dud. That's to be expected with electronics. I'm glad I went ahead and bought this router. Just remember that it isn't designed for everyone to be streaming video at the same time.

I've been reading other reviews about it being hard to set up but I found it incredibly easy. Very good quick performance. Great signal distance as well

A good deal for the monery
Comment:
Just go slow on the install. If you get an error code or have problems changing settings. Do it the easy way. Take a deep breath. Then uninstall the software and push the reset button on the back of it, and just start over. Forget the help it's useless.

Spent several hours attempting to get this working. Finally went back to my old one. It was slow, but at least it worked. This is a piece of junk.

Junk
Comment:
I spent 8 hours trying to get the wireless to work. My laptops could see the signal but would not link. That is with all security turned off. I'm returning it.

after a tricky setup (most likely due to internet provider) wireless and hardwire capabilities are great. wireless occasionally disconnects, but will pop back on. speeds are great. overall well worth the purchase.

Much easier than expected!
Comment:
I had originally rated this a 4.8 overall, but things have changed. This sucker lasted less than three weeks before it quit and no amount of work, fiddling cojoling, or bitchin' could get it working again. It's now been added to the Linksys by Cisco brick wall I'm apparently building. I could return it and get another identical to this one, but after three failed attempts with other products from these folks, I've had enough. I guess I'm the sucker. This site's customer service is outstanding, as always.

Not quite right
Comment:
Yeah, it seems like a good deal, but I think I got what I paid for. The software doesn't work at all (Win XP). I'm not an IT whiz but I know my way around the basics. Most of the online config doesn't make much sense to me. The only wireless devices I have, a wireless pc and a laptop, I still haven't worked the bugs out of the connections - the link randomly drops out with 100% signal. On my wired pc, the connection has gotten painfully slow, even with the port priority at high. It did however work wired right out of the box. My old d-link was easy to configure, always worked (until dying at the age of 7) and did what it was supposed to. This thing is just a pain.

can't beat it for the money
Comment:
I have a half acre with a 12x40 mobile unit on the back half. I have coverage everywhere! Even throughout the mobile unit. There are 2 desk tops,1 notebook, 1 netbook and a PS3, all working off this router with no problems. And the security keeps any freeloaders out.

Super increase in signal strength over g version
Comment:
Our new home layout put our g version wireless router too far away from our living room. For the price, I decided to try this n version router. What happened was signal strength went from weak or none to excellent. Unit was very easy to install and I had no problems linking it with the wireless printers, hard drives and 3 laptops. Don't worry about it being a refurb unit. It was pristine. Well worth the money. If you need a better signal strength, this might be a low cost solution to the problem.

Great Value for $33
Comment:
Our relationship was a little bumpy at first, but after upgrading the firmware, doing a windows update, resetting the modem and router a few times, we are getting along just fine. I even sold my old g router on ebay for almost as much as this one cost me, making it a close to net zero transaction. I'm happy with the decision to go with this refurb.

Linksys WRT160N Ultra Rangeplus 4 Port Wireless N MIMO Broadband Router
Cons:none

Pros:ease of use, speed, price
Comment:
An amazing wireless N router for 30 bucks. Ease of use is incredible, transfer all previous router settings (if its a linksys) with the snap of a key. Up and running in no time. Comes with the CD, my refurb looked and 'smelled' perfectly new with shrink wrap. works perfectly, although wireless N is just barley slow to stream 1080P Dts files, although 720P dts is no problem.Highly recommmended if you do not require a gigabyte switch.

Glad I bought this router
Comment:
Definitely was a little skeptical of a N router at $30 but this ended up being great. It's streaming good HD and workin good with my PS3 that is commonly recieving 10-15 Mbps with broadband going through one floor.

Great product, price but challenging installation
Comment:
Several attempts to install router with enclosed CD resulted in error 322,router not detected. Am not hitech but manage most computer tasks myself. Called techical support and finally reached an extremely helpful and articulate technician who indicated CD would not work on my installation. She gave me 2 choices: walk me through the process (free) or take control of my computer and do it for me ($9.99). Selected the latter and glad I did. Well worth the money. Installation was done quickly and both my wireless computers are now connected to the internet and functioning beautifully. And what a great price for an N router!

Much much faster than a G. I had some problem getting my laptop to connect via WiFi but a short live chat with tech support, we had it up and going. I love the price.
