I don't know anyone who had any problems with it. I really recommend it for anyone. I got no complain so far!

Perhaps a little faster than I need, but it is one quick HDD.For those who want to save a few extra bucks off their electrical bills, you can look at the Caviar Greens; or if you don't need the extra speed the Blacks' give.This drive a bit louder than most of my Drives I have owned, but it's not terribly bad. Please look up bits vs bytes (b vs. B) GB are different than gb. MB are different than mb. When you are transfering between external and internal you are going by the usb or firewire speeds. Not the fault of ANY drive. I do own this drive, it is a very quick drive and I am quite happy with it so far. Still can't wait for it to dip in price a little bit more.
42R Rating: Review Date: 10/12/09	Not cost effective for regular desktops Comment: So I outfitten my entire desktop with these drives. 2 500GB and 2 1TB, set up in RAID. While transferring files around between all of my external drives the transfer speeds were ho-hum. I figured once everything was on the internal drives, it would be much faster. Needless to say I was severely disappointed. For the high spindle speed, large cache, and all of the advertised numbers, the drives don't move data any faster than about 90MB per second. This is significantly lower than the 3GB they advertise. Maybe that's theoretical and all, but 90MB? My laptop has a Hitachi travelstar 100GB, with a much lower spindle speed, and smaller cache, and that drive moves data around at the same speed. Save your money and get the green or blue series. Doing some research, their actual read and write speeds are the same as the black series.

Comment: I am sure the drive is excellent and will last long, but loosing 2 years on warranty is very upsetting, luckily the other 2 drives i purchased from here carried the right warranty. Seems like ncix managed to get rid of their rather "OLD STOCK", i could have instead just ordered Out of Box drive if ncix were to not bother sending brand new drive !!Nothing against WD drives, just giving poor rating cause of what ncix did.

Rhema_1 Rating: Review Date: 10/07/09	Great Drive At A Great Value Comment: Yes they could be cheaper like the other brands, but I would rather have the 32 Mb cache and the reliability that comes with these drives rather than asking for a lower price forcing them to skimp on quality. There are enough other cheap drives out there that have poor warranties, higher failure rates and so on. I would rather see the quality and the 5 year warranty and pay a little more. If you want to pay less those options are already out there. Let's not take all the good ones off the market.

The product delivers what it states and has not failed me yet. It does run a bit loud but I can't complain cause when I ordered the product, it offered free shipping! I did run the WD diagnostics and HDTune and it seems that is how it runs. So if you are nit picky about sound, this hard drive may annoy you.
