buy this product when it's on sale. It is pretty fast and you should be happy about its capacity. Having used it for 5 months and nothing much to complain. The only thing I don't like is that every time I turn this baby on, it gets very loud immediately. |

I've read comments as some complainted this drive being too noisy, but I haven't notice difference.... to me a hard drive will make some noise when it's writing data but I have not heard any noise from this drive, maybe because I have it 3 feets away me.For around 100 dollars, this drive can't be beat.I had WD drives for years, and I haven't had any failed on me yet. (Touch wood)Beside, 5 years warranty is one of the best warranty out there. |

Some internet reviews I saw for this drive mentioned noise being an issue, however I can barely hear it at all when its writing, and my case is right next to me.Benchmarks show it being faster on its own than my two old Seagate 7200.9s in a RAID0, I'm impressed. |

Item works well for 2 weeks then experienced problems. However, transfer speed is not as fast as Seagate 1T Barracuda. Diagnostic software from WD was not able to repair. RMA as we speak. |

it is better than the 6 seagate hard drives I have purchased in the past which I have issues with after a year. this is quieter doesnt heat up like the seagates, and dual processor I think you would be a fool not buy this one. I will buy another real soon possibly this week |

Bought this to use as a PVR for my shaw cable box. Works great. So far, been fairly quite and has run fairly cool. It's in the living room and I can't really hear it at all. We'll see about the long term use of the hard drive. Knock on wood, haven't had a WD drive fail on me just yet but with the 5 year warranty, not too worried about it.Would recommend picking up one of these drives if you are looking to expand your PVR or add a PVR. Great value and will save you some $$ over getting it through the cable company. |

I have used WD Caviar for my last 3 rigs. The oldest is going strong after 5 years. Most recently I bought this 1TB WD Black. So far, no problems after 9 months of constant use. It runs cool, and noise has never been an issue. Next up will be a home network SAN with two of these puppies running raid 1. An excellent reliable product. |

I did a ghost of my setup using norton ghost 2003, and was very surprised to see that compressing and copying 20 gigs only took like 5 minutes. That thing is fast, but for some reason, windows rating system only give 5.9 to that drive (which is still good, but I got 7.4 everywhere else...) |
