My first experience with WD on my new build.Thought i'd give them a try due to all the good reviews on this drive.I guess i was unlucky and recieved a dud.I'm not going to slag WD as this could happen with any manufacturer.Replaced with a 1.5TB Seagate which was cheaper and as far as i'm concerned offers the same performance.5.9 on windows performance score for both.Btw it's the Seagate drive everyones slagging right now.Works for me i would have replaced it with another WD but gained more storage at a cheaper price. |

Pros:Not the fastest drive but the fastest drive that I own. Comment:
Easy to install, bios able to recognize the drive easily. No problem setup in raid, but I didn't really have the time to play with it for too long--just to see if it work.Single drive transfer speed is fast, program seem to load up bit faster than other drives that I had couple years ago.Operation may be a bit louder too compare to my other drives but bearable. So far I am happy with it. |

This is pretty much the apex of the cost/Gb/performance ladder. I get a windows index score of 5.9 under Win7 64 Pro and it seems to boot quickly and load programs fast. I am using one with an i7-920 system and one in an older core2duo setup and both have performed fine. I'll make the SSD leap once 25nm flash models come out and prices drop a bit but for the time being these are my go-to drives. |

This drive idles 34 degrees and stays below 48 degrees no matter what I throw at it.I get 75-93mb/s on average.If you hate noisy drives you will definitely need a high quality case/enclosure or some sort of sound/vibration absorbing material. The seeks will get very loud with lower end cases. |

I am quite pleased with this drive so far. No drawbacks that I can dicern at this point, it's quiet, produces almost no vibration, installation was seamless, it just takes a while to format. Considering adding one or two more.
