Cons:At the moment of writing this, the price is $130.. where I just bought this drive a day ago for $90.. not really a con vs the drive though :)

What's to say?? A nice big 1tb drive made by WD who IMO is the best in the business.. I haven't yet had a WD drive dip on me once and I've purchased many. I bought this drive to replace my older 200gb ATA ED Drive which is still rockin just fine.. the problem was the actual enclosure loosing connectivity. So far this drive has been perfect.. installed into a Vantec enclosure and using it over esata. Transferring my files last night from a raid 0 config to this drive and was gettig 100+MBps transfer.. YEAH BABY :DDon't think twice about buying drives from WD they are worth every penny. Don't EVER spend your money on Maxtor, Hitachi or even in some cases Samsung. Yeah raw speed may be faster according to online benchmarks, but what is more important?? Raw speed?? or Dependability?? My vote sticks with WD drives.. best drives out there bar none. |

Cons:A little loud compared to my WD 5000AAKS, but that could be the location of the drive (mobile rack vs deep in the case)
Pros:Great speed and storage for the price!On sale, was only $10 more than the Green 1TB and so much faster. Comment:
Great drive to balance price, storage and speed.Definitely recommended if in need of a new drive.Purchased based on performance of my old 500g by WD and wasn't let down. |

I love this hard drive. Better than many higher end drives that I have purchased in the past including SCSI drives and my Raptor 10k.Use the included western digital drive ghosting software because it not only quickly copies the contents but defrags them in the process. |

I bought it 2 of this drive one on special the other one price match and it was a steal!! I paired together in RAID-0 and with WDTLER set to 7 sec., and I got the the drive-performance of : Western Digital RE3 1TB 7200RPM SATA2 32MB Dual Proc 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM, with the big difference off 200$ remain in my pocket. They run very quiet and relatively cold, absolutely are fast. Highly reccomended.Cheers |

Cons:None. My only issues were with windows7, as it is not "simple" or intuitive to get a second drive running.
Pros:this drive was packed solid. When the tape was split, the box actually popped open from packing material (bubble wrap and peanuts). The drive was completely immobilized, no rattles, no shifting...a big difference from past experience. It's 1TB and it works great, despite Vista making it a pain to add a drive. Comment:
Very quiet and available everytime I click on it to access it. Don't know anything about a deep recovery cycle, have never raided this drive. It is currently 1 of 2 of WD 1TB drives in a file server I run from my house, and it has worked flawlessly for the 4 months I've been running it. |

I bought this along with an Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled 3.5IN enclosure and the drive has been working flawlessly as my household's main backup. It's a great performance hard drive that rivals the VelociRaptor drives. Also, since it keeps going on sale, it's a great bargain for the capacity it offers (1TB!). It does run a little hot but that may be because it is in a drive enclosure and not a well-ventilated case. I would recommend good hard drive cooling for this drive. For the money though, you can't go wrong and I believe it comes with a 5-year warranty (I may be mistaken though). I will be buying WD again in the future. |

Bought this drive to replace a Seagate 750gb drive that dyed within 8 months on me, i dont recommecnt seagate at all, but iv always been a fav of WD and when i got this drive, it installed fine, and it runs fine and way faster then the seagate drive i had, really recommend this drive, and thanks to the folks at this site. i orderd it a friday it was here the following tuesday, nice and fast! |

Compared to my previous Maxtor 300gb IDE/ATA, it is light years in advance...speedy, almost silent, great transfer speed (about 60mb/s most of the time).With its five years warranty, WD seems to have great confidence in the durability of this product compared to most others 3 years warranty.Temperature is below 30c most of the time in my Antec 902.And yes you can hear it some times, but it is very "mild".Unfortunately, I don't have any other recent HDD from other manufacturer to compare it with.I have chosen this WD hard drive, mainly because of Seagate recent firmware debacle and their lower warranty. |
I bought this as my main drive on an i7 rig. Nothing to say besides the 5 year warranty which basically gives me assurance that I'll have a fast, powerful drive as my main drive on my rig. Definitely recommended besides the noise.
