Great speed and can be a little loud at times but still quieter than many other 1Tb hard drives. No real difference between the 32mb cache and 64mb cache except the platter density.

They are fast, a bit hot but not too much, and they seem reliable. Would buy again!

No issues, decent performance (although I always find that the comparable Seagate drive will always be faster).They are a good buy with a very low failure rate - can't go wrong here.

It failed on my 3 times, so I switched to this. In 2 years, the drive has had no hiccups.The speed is good for a 7200 rpm drive. I'm now using this as a storage drive after the purchase of an SSD.

I "upgraded" from one of these to an OCZ Vertex 2 and I don't notice that much of a difference (there is, but only very minor). It's not that the SSD is slow, it's just that this WD Black is a monster!!! Fastest non-SSD you can get. You won't be disappointed with one of these.

Some minor damping may be required to reduce vibration, but most computer cases nowadays have hdd damping feature, so not much of concern here. It does heat up after some use, which is expected but may be an issue in the future.

Comment: -Nowhere near SSD performance but still the best HDD out there. Have a Coolmaster case and can hear the drive seeking over my fans. Recommend this as an Operating System drive but I wouldn't load up on them in my case due to the high noise factor.

Comment: I did quite a bit of research before I bought two of those to build a RAID1 array (mirroring). It was contradictory, some say yes raid with those is fine, others say no. After building the array, as soon as I was trying to transfer something to it, the array got damaged. After many trials and frustration, I got it working by DISABLING COMMAND QUEUING from my Nvidia nforce 590/570/550 Serial ATA Controller (accessible from device manager). I don't know who's fault it is that by default it is not set properly, but it's sad to go through this.

Comment: I got this HDD for a new PC build, I liked it so much I bought a second one and I am going to try and run them in RAID 0. The price is right for a quick, and reliable HD. Not to mention that I have had absolutely no issues with detecting and utilizing this drive in my new system. Also nice that it is SATA 2. Want to switch to SSD's, but until the prices become better this is a great option.
