Knew what to expect
Comment:
I knew what to expect as an early adopter. There are a few features that I have yet to fully delve into. It is yet further streamlined for ease of use. The Pro version is the only one worth purchasing.

Very Stable
Comment:
Started with '95, '98, and currently XP. Now after 2 months of delay. Will be going into Windows 7. Looks like they did a great job, love the management resources on HDD spacing.

Great OS
Comment:
This is a great OS but I am very upset that Adobe Flash doesn't work with 64bit. They need to get with the technology. I didn't want to go with 32bit because I wanted this system to be the best and ready for the future. I went with professional because of the XP compatibility. But I have a laptop with Vista and never had any problems with it. I still have some tweaking to do but I like it.

installed easy but program transfer is hard
Comment:
installed on brandnew hard drive in very little time. File and program transfer takes a long time. recommend dual boot setup to be able to operate old programs untill you work thru all the updates and configuration.

Better than Vista!
Comment:
Overall impressed. I dual boot this with Linux and find myself using Windows 7 more often. Leagues above Vista already in my opinion. I'm disappointed with the search. It's hard to find things if you're a power user and liked the Advanced Search functionality of XP or Vista.

Windows 7 Pro is the one to get
Comment:
Professional has the XP compatibility mode, that Home or Home Premium doesn't. I got the 64 bit system to have no ram restrictions. I run this with 6MB ram in one system, 8MB in another system and both are killer !!

Don't be frightened by OEM
Comment:
It really means nothing, other than if you run into issues installing it you are on your own for support. This is a big improvement over Vista. Great for setting up a home network. Agree with the other reviewer that said if it was any easier you could do it in your sleep.

Way better than Vista
Comment:
Windows 7 seems way better than Vista. It has a very cool tool for migrating your favorites, email, contacts and files from your previous computer also. I would definetely recommend it. Just remember the Professional version allows you to use more of your older XP applications then the premium.

Awesome OS!!
Comment:
Running Win 7 64x right now with a Phenom II x4 965 BE gaming rig and I LOVE IT!! So far Win 7's compatibility actually works on all the programs I have been trying to run!! I can not only run Crysis on Very High settings all around without a stutter and still be able to run Diablo II on the same machine!! I think microsoft actually did something right for a change when they decided to listen to the population and make an OS from what the people wanted!! Reminds me a little of Mac OS-X or Ubuntu with the security features and the look. I never used Vista (logged into a Vista machine 1 time and hated it so much I swore it off) and I accept the apology microsoft has made with Win 7.

Must be better; it costs money
Comment:
I dual boot 7 with ubuntu so I can compare on this machine (got free upgrade from Vista). 7 has a lot more eye candy, some useful, some annoying. Memory use is about a third less than Vista; more than ubuntu. Booting is twice as long as ubuntu. I had to buy a new printer, scanner & TV card. All my old (& new) ones work & install instantly on Ubuntu. Since you have to buy this with a new computer, no sense buying it off the shelf just to ''upgrade''. IMO microsoft should develop a proprietary desktop for linux, sell it for $150, and everybody would be gaga over how much better it was than 7.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:-One install only

Pros:-Simple GUI-XP mode-No BSOD yet
Comment:
Bought this for a friend's build. The user interface is great once you get used to it. I would say that Vista's GUI should have been structured this way. I chose this over the Home Premium because of XP mode. Backwards compatibility is always good to have. I would have like Windows 7 to be 64 bit only though. This would have helped push 64 bit software. My only real issue with this OS is Microsoft's licensing. I just wish all the paying customers got to use the software any way we choose. Guess that's the price we pay for all the pirates out there.

Haven't Installed Yet But Sounds Great
Comment:
Yes, it works in a VM so I bought a copy for my laptop. I still prefer linux and OS X but this should do what I need. It is still really big and slow but no where near as bad as vista was.

Hated Vista, This is 1000% better
Comment:
Opened the package wondering how difficult it would be to install then use? What glitches would there be? Put the disc in and it was easier then xp even. It installed, I had little to do for personalizing. I had a great experience with it. It self connected to my network. didn't even struggle like I did with XP and Vista. If it were any easier to use I might just sleep while using a new copy in my next computer.. Multiple liscencing would be nice. But I won't complain. The deal is great, easy to learn to use if you can read and has good features once installed.

Windows 7
Comment:
I liked Windows XP Media Center but all the new computers I have been buying came with Windows Vista and I hated it. I would buy a computer, a hard drive and Windows XP Media Center and change the hard drive and go back to Windows XP but drivers are hard to get for Windows XP on the newer computers then they came out with Windows 7 which as far as I'm concerned is a great improvement over Vista.

64 Bit upgrade
Comment:
Beware though if you have an XP 32bit version that you cannot upgrade, you have to reinstall over your existing 32bit XP version, you will lose everything if not backed up.

I love it.
Comment:
I like Windows 7 more than any other OS I've ever used. It is quick and the install on a brand new machine was super easy. I have yet to have a glitch on my home version on my lap top or on the pro version on the desk top. I love its features and its ease of use. MS can be proud of this one. Its about time too.

MS has finally moved beyond XP
Comment:
Operation of Win 7 is truely intuitive, I gave the software my Email address and it re-established my Email account. Same with my home network, it picked up my D-Link wireless router and re-established my network without having to go back to step one. If your looking for all the add-ons that usually come with Windows, their not on the install disk. Click START and type 'essentials' in the search window, you'll find a lot of goodies to download for free like a replacement for Outlook Express called Windows Live Email and an updated version of Microsoft Movie Maker.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:Looks Just Like Vista, Only FasterUAC Still Sucks

Pros:FastLooks Nice / Aero GlassVery Few Issues With Driver Compatibility
Comment:
Picked this up for a new Core i7 build. Very fast boot, much quicker than Vista. I actually liked Vista (post service pack 2 and in a quad core with 4GB of ram) and Windows 7 is pretty much identical, just faster.
