Pleasantly Surprised
Comment:
I was a little concerened about compatibility with some older apps i run, but i have been able to get most of them to function properly. I am very pleased with the stability of this os.I like Win 7 x64 much better than any version of Vista i have encountered. Very pleased with my purchase

Got it Right
Comment:
New install of Win7, 64bit, on a 2yr old 2xcore PC went smoothly, however I still had to search the internet after the install to download a few drivers specific hardware on my machine, I also haven't yet solved a SATAdriver problem. Still searching. However a great performing OS and inviting to use, much quicker to start from a hard boot.

I lke it.

I have used windows since 3.1 (not 3.11, but 3.1). This is by far the best first release of a Microsoft product I have used. I took a risk, and have been rewarded. It's still windows, but really nice windows.

Like you really have any choice?
Comment:
Review? You can say what you want, but if you need Windows compatibility, you don't have any choice anyway. Now that I got that off my chest. I don't see what all the fuss is about. It is just a slightly sexier version of Vista, with all the same annoying validation prompts and like others have said, the WinXP compat is spotty at best. Oddly enough I get old games SW to run once, the first time, and then the next time I try to run it, nothing happens. Even deinstall reinstall doesn't work. Same trouble with the Windows Performance Experience rating. It ran fine the first time, but never again. I do like that I can buy an OEM version for a reasonable price, but with little nit problems like above, it would be nice to actually be able to contact support, which you cannot do when using an OEM version. You are supposed to contact the place where you bought this SW which came pre-installed on the new PC you just bought. Uh, yeah.

First time I ever bought a new operating system when it came out and this seems to be the best from Microsoft so far.

Finally!
Comment:
Ran the demo version for months, and the final products certainly deliver to expectations. Easy, solid and functional, without the paranoia. No issues with major bugs or performance issues. Could be cheaper, but great OS overall!

Better
Comment:
All shipping and payment aspects went well with Tiger. Thank You. Win7 is a far departure from the status Quo of Microsoft I have dealt with since the problems with Dos6.2 intergration. Thanks for letting someone else drive the mice for a change.

Microsoft finally got it right... Would have had to spend $500 on upgrades to get the performace in Vista that I'm getting out of WIN 7... Excellent Product.

Like Vista but Better
Comment:
My install went very smoothly. Have only had problems with very old Software (pre-XP). The XP compatibility mode does not seem to work at all. Win 7 has a much improved UI (beautiful), more user friendly, handles lots more hardware without hassle. Easier to get to stuff you want. Some neat functionality, jump lists, window side-by-side, etc. More user-friendly overall. Now for the problems. TD has a bad batch of discs for Win 7. I ordered 2 copies of Pro and both discs were severely scratched, one would not install at all, the other did (works so far). I sent the other one back for exchange, guess what? The replacement is scratched even more than the first 2, useless. Looked at the batch number on all of them and its the same. The whole batch is bad. This is the fault of the supplier. TD needs to send the entire batch back and fire the guy who burned them. So I give it Quality of 1.

Best way to get Windows 7
Comment:
Windows 7 Pro OEM provides a great way to do a complete installation on a new computer or an upgraded computer with new hardware. Installation was very straightforward and much easier than previous OSs.

Win 7 on i5
Comment:
Installed a few days ago, and the only hard issue I've had so far is Adobe Flash Player (nothing for 64 bit OS as of Dec '09.) I'm sure I'll come across other issues, but I guess it takes a while to work the fine points. I don't blame the seller, but I knocked down the value rating because I don't think the basic OS should cost so much.

I like the new looks
Comment:
Like all MS products, it has issues, but overall it's working ok. The Pro version doesn't add the games automatically, so if you want to play solitaire, etc, you'll need to add them after install

install wasnt all that fast for me and had an issue with video card and with no tech support from anyone it took me a little time and research to figue it out. if it happens to you just start windows in low res mode and install driver for video card and ur good to go. all and all im happy. guess i was lucky and the only thing i had to buy new was a webcam.

File handeling is sickening!
Comment:
Moved from XP sp3 to Win 7. Install was flawless and exceptionally quick. Have some isues with hibernation. The only real problem is file handeling. Is definatly the slowest of any version. If there are a lot of files in a directory (thousand or more), Win 7 takes extremely long time to sort or delete (and what happened to the icons at the top of Explorer) or move. Very annoying.....

Works Great So Far
Comment:
Much better than Vista at least, and that's a surprise seeing how it was only recently released. Works great for CS, CZ, CSS, CoD4, Startup, Shutdown, and manages all the junky things like updates very well. All my programs work on this except OpenVPN, which i'm sure will work later on. Definately worth getting now. --IT Network and Desktop Engineer

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:Still requires decent system specs

Pros:Great improvement over XP & Vista
Comment:
Good work on a new OS. Works very well even out of the box with default drivers on both my home-built PC (used an upgrade copy purchased elsewhere), and this copy is on my Macbook Pro. Works even better with proper drivers. Very stable. I like the interface changes, but your mileage may vary.I recommend plenty of RAM and a decent system however - it's leaner than Vista, but it's still an OS for 2009, and you'll be happier if it's on a newer computer.

A good operating system
Comment:
This system installed easily and appears fairly stable. The two problems that I have had so far, is this: When there is no input for a period of time, it sometimes will not wake-up. If left alone, it performs a reboot. Second, the ASUS driver DVD is not compatible with the 64 bit system. You have to find and download the MOBO drivers directly from the ASUS site.

Just another revision of Vista
Comment:
I think this is just another version of Vista. I'm not too crazy about it and I still like my WinXP system. The installation was very fast and things seem smoother but I did have some incompatibility issues. Older printers and monitors did not work. Only a few programs failed to install as well. This OS seems to work well with the newer technologies but it will give you headaches with older stuff. Reminds me of the old days of upgrading things. Microsoft will force you to upgrade your hardware and waste more money. It's visually appealing and fast but it has its little annoyances.

Better than Vista, but not perfect.
Comment:
Windows 7 is much better than Vista but it is not perfect. I have had programs (mostly internet explorer) stop responding for minutes at a time. The reason I let this pass is it is still a new operating system, there will be bugs. As for the people who have trouble installing windows 7 I recommend taking your computer to a computer technician and paying them to install it. As for performance it is great with my I7 based HP laptop. I highly recommend getting the 64 bit if you are a gamer becuase you can have more than 4 gigs of RAM. I currently have 6 gigs or RAM and can run high end games at full settings with a low end I7 processor computer with 1 gig of video RAM. In the end Windows 7 is not perfect, but most operating systems are not when they are first released. But so far it seems to be a heck of a lot better than Vista at release.

Custom Install, I wonder what they really mean!
Comment:
I received the product from TigerD in 3 days. Thanks TigerDirect. That's the good news. Its been 6 days and I haven't even got to see WIN 7 install ICON. I'm running XP(service pack 3)32 bit on a ASUS P5B motherboard, but like most people, 7 got good reviews so I'll try it. Decided to go to 64 bit. Ran everything MS suggested. i.e. Upgrade advisory report and Easy transfer. Everything was a go, but I couldn't even get the disk to work in any of my 3 DVD drives. Disk and all my drives work. I even went out and bought an external drive to test it. I and many Computer Tech Forums have tried everything under the sun. I guess its back to XP. Anyone with any ideas. Maybe I'll try LINUX.
