Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:None

Pros:Much more lightweight than Vista
Comment:
Microsoft finally gets it right. Vista was a huge resource hog - all bling, no performance. Windows 7 optimizes the OS for performance. I upgraded from Vista and immediately noticed that my system was snappier. Less idle RAM usage.Usability wise, there are some cool features like snapping windows to the left, right or top. But at the end of the day, this doesn't really feel like a new OS. It feels like Vista Ver.2 or what Vista SHOULD have been from the start

Winner - Runs every thing, fast XP mode isn't as good as it sounds. Purchased Win7 64 for my aging laptop about 6 or 7 months ago. I adore using it once again. Was unsure about switching my gaming desktop to win 7 as I still like to play some older games that I have. I,ve loaded a bunch of them on my laptop, and I've not had one difficulty. Just bought my second copy and will be taking the plung to win 7 for gaming as properly. (Rome Total War, Age of Empires, Stronghold two)

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:ditto

Pros:It's Windows 7, look up the pros and cons someplace reliable
Comment:
I haven't had any problems with this OS as of yet. I love that if the power goes out, which it has, the OS reopens the apps that you were running before the outage. If I had the choice I would honestly install Mac on a PC, but that's a little risky these days. It might be something to consider if you're pro-mac but want a great PC (Mac hardware is junk... look it up. Most of it is year-old-technology at least)

I like it, simple to use interface and features, not to considerably diverse from windows. *not too considerably diverse from previous windows* If you like to play certain games, like HM Blood Income, you may possibly need to have to download particular .dll files for them to run. Not actually a large deal.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:Poor networking with older versions.

Pros:Reliability and Stability.
Comment:
If your planning on building a 64bit system in the near future, then this is the best operating system ever! Microsoft has had years of development getting this right and they did a bang up job this time. It's not really designed to network with older versions, but that's easy to overlook with the stability and reliability of Windows 7 running all kinds of apps. Gaming made easy because the device drivers are easy to find and most are compatible. Would not recommend this for smaller systems less than 3 cores. The professional version is just the right mix of capability and will run older apps with ease.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:- I didn't upgrade sooner!!

Pros:- Very easy to install and set up.- So many nice new features.- Ability to install XP if required.- Includes Service Pack 1.
Comment:
Having been a fan of Windows XP since the beginning, I always found myself making excuses as to why not to upgrade. But since I was building myself a 64-bit machine, the time finally came. And I have to say I am very pleased with Windows 7. Do yourself a favour and upgrade today!! :)

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:- I'm not sure if I like ClearType yet.- Still getting used to the new Control Panel.

Pros:- Aero- Ability to use more RAM than 32-bit OS- Fast installation- Start Menu and System Tray is easier than XP's.
Comment:
I've used Windows XP for 10 years now and upgraded because I needed a machine with more than 4GB of RAM. I'm typically impressed with the efficacy of software rather than a fancy interface, but I have to admit that Aero is pretty cool. I have a lot of programs installed and I can find things faster with the new Start Menu. I also like how I can configure how each icon in the system tray acts. I haven't yet decided if I like ClearType and am probably going to see if I can disable it.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:slow loading desktop gadgets, memory hog

Pros:better os than other previous
Comment:
This operating system is better than other ones, but xp was best at it's time, this one is way better than vista at a long shot, ok i made it crash twice in a week but vista was the worst one, i made it crash 7 times in an hour in a single test so this os is far better, just slow to load the gadgets at start up, but it's a memory hog, i have 8 gb of ram and in 2 days i use up 79% of it so i had to restart to refresh the memory. overall it's a good operating system, hopefully i would like to see the new windows in a few years, called windows 8, that's what microsoft calls it at the moment.

Cons:Big learning curve from XP, but that's expected.

Pros:Very solid System. Far out stripes it's predecessors. Functionality way beyond XP. And clearly an improvement over Vista.

I would highly recommend this OS. I love it. Far more intuitive the XP. Far superior indexing & search functions. Clearly an enormous improvenet.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:- Since I legaly earn an income I have no problems paying money for a decent product; you get what you pay for and at 129 CAD I have no complaints.

Pros:1. Greatly improved system stability over XP2. Hardware compatibility has little or no issue; upon install OS recognizing your systems primary hardware gets your system running and usable with all the necessary basics - graphics, sound and wireless, could not say that about XP - without any silly driver disk.
Comment:
Complaining about Windows 7 not being Linux is like complaining about a Toyota Corolla not being a Ford F-150. Personally, I care about it's functionality and compatibility with the software and hardware it's suppose to support, and it does that decently. The Linux argument is getting old, "suck it up butter-cup". This review was modfied by poster @ 03-17-11 01:24 PM

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:It's Windows.

Pros:For most gaming and some other special purpose software Windows is the rational choice.
Comment:
Normally I run Linux on my machines. I bought this partly because there are some games I wanted to run but mostly because there is some GPGPU research I want to do and it's just easier in Windows. I got the Professional edition because I want to be able to run some astronomy software in XP mode and XP is only available under the Professional or better license.I'm tempted to try installing this on an HP laptop/tablet that is running Vista - Vista is a pain but Linux doesn't support my tablet well.

Never pay full price for this. PM at DirectCanada (sister company of NCIX) for $134.99.Still, I feel ripped off. Back at university I got all OS for free from the school.

It's simply the best OS out there, whether you are a gamer, an enthusiast, an overclocker or just a casual nerd. There's too many features to name them, but I have not encountered an issue with Windows 7 yet. I'm really glad I switched from XP.

Installed the 64 bit version on a rebuilt desktop, with 8 gig ram, ATI all-in-wonder graphics and new MB/i5CPU. Works perfectly, except that I cannot find driver for my Canon scanner. aaarggghhhh! Also installed 32 bit version on older Motion Computing Tablet LE1600, used a few Vista drivers and that works perfect - way faster than XP tablet and has yet to crash ever (4 months). Finally MS got it right!

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons:None really, considering how cheap hard drive space and RAM is.

Pros:Reasonably priced, especially during the weekly sale. Works great, nice interface.
Comment:
A significant improvement over XP and a huge improvement over Vista. After using Vista I switched back to XP due to slow operation and huge resource use. Windows 7 is great, it is faster than XP, has some nice usability features which are too numerous to list as well as looking much nicer. If you have not made the switch, go for it. XP will not be supported forever and 7 really is better. With 7 Pro you can install XP mode if you have an incompatible program that you can't live without. Really, there are no reasons left for hanging on to XP as far as I can see.
