I ordered two of these late January 2011, both were the MVW model (WD20EARS-00MVWB0) with manufacturing date of Nov 25 2010 in Thailand. They seem to have significantly less idle power consumption than some of the other versions of the drive. I am seeing about 2.8 to 3 watts per drive at idle. Pretty impressive.Hopefully they last! So far so good, I had been reading reviews elsewhere of a bad batch of drives that came from Malaysia, so I was happy to see mine were not from there and are the lower power version. They were shipped from Ontario, so it seems at least there, that's what is in stock right now. |

This is a very good hard drive. It's very fast for 5400RPM (read/write/copy), faster than i expected. I'm not using it for the OS though. It runs 2-3 degrees cooler than my other non-green WD and Seagate hard drives. Plenty of space for 79.99. Too bad i didn't order it right away when it was priced at 69.99. I didn't think that a few hours later NCIX would increase the price to 79.99.The aligning with WD Align took only a few seconds. |

Operation is very quiet (one of my top criteria when deciding which drive to get) and it runs very cool too, which is important since there's not a lot of airflow or empty space inside the media box. Great drive, would purchase again. |

Bought this on Boxing Day for $69.99 before taxes. Great price, I want to buy another but waiting till it comes down to this price again. Works great. I run XP and all I did was set the jumpers to pin 7 & 8 and it works flawlessly. I also ran wdidle3 to disable the parking of the head. (Search in forums to learn how to do this) No issues as of yet. It's quiet too. I could not really hear it when writing to the drive. Overall I'd recommend this drive for sure. |

Bought two of these to make a Mirrored RAID htpc. my previous drive were Seagates and were making a lot of vibrations that I had to put electrical tapes around the screws. These drives, I didn't have to do anything of that sort. And they are more silent too! |

2tb of storage! (1.81tb really)...The 2TB green Edition is a great deal when its on sale (~80). Definitely Quieter than a 2TB Seagate when using an thermaltake black x duet. Inside the case however you can't hear either. I do recommend buying these however they are humoured to die sooner than black/blue editions when you let them sit idle alot...2tb black editions are more expensive though. You can warranty it but you won't get your data back!Both of mine are good so far |

These are fantastic drives; this isn't my first, and it won't be my last. I have several WD Greens serving duty in my WHS box, as secondary storage for various builds, etc. I've never had a single problem with a single drive. If for some reason you're using a decade-old OS (that'd be XP) then you have to jumper the drive to get it to work properly, but that's a tiny inconvenience, and none at all for those of us using modern operating systems. |
