Comment:
I just bought 3 of these bad boys and configure them to RAID0 and man I am loving it. This is the best hard drive i've gotten. |

Defective Product
Comment:
Bought this hard drive for backing up my data. I couldn't get it to work because of an IO error. Now I am getting ready to return it. I saw after the fact that other people who bought this item had the same problem. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:
- not meant for high performance
Pros: - large storage 2TB- price- "green" Comment:
First of all these drives are meant for when performance is not an issue like what I use them for, media storage for my server. Some people put these as their OS drive and wonder why the performance isn't good :/.I don't even keep DVDs anymore. It is much faster (to backup and access) with a drive and pretty much the same price/GB. Just remember to still keep backups.Prices for these drives are dropping quickly. Won't be long till this is below $100. |

Nothing But Problems
Comment:
Bought two at great price. Installed quickly. Transferred files to both. During a file transfer, one drive had IO error. Never could reformat it. Tried all WD software plus other 3rd party apps. Meanwhile the other drive also had IO error and lost all the files it already had. Luckily it reformatted but I don't trust it now. Other one is getting warranty swap. Check it out online and you will find many others have problems too. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:
requires additional steps for windows xp users.
Pros: cool running, capacity Comment:
This is an 'Advanced Format' drive, which uses 4kb sectors instead of the normal 512 bytes sectors that older drives use. However Windows XP doesn't work well with the new block size unless you use a jumper on pins 7-8 before formatting if using with XP, or you can use a program to realign it from Western Digital’s website. This is the method I used to get this drive working properly in Windows XP. I first created 3 partitions at the same time, then I formatted it each partition in windows without the using the jumper method. I then used the Western Digital’s realign software made by Acronis to realign the partitions, and that was it.It’s not as fast as the 7200 rpm drives, but it runs cool and the capacity is great. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:
maybe speed but I use it as a storage drive so does not affect me
Pros: Quiet, lots of space Comment:
1.81 TB usable space after format, Windows 7 64bit, this drive is very quiet, I don't hear anything when it is working. Speed is about 60-90MB/sec depends on from which drive I transfer the data to it.Nice price when on sale (about $130) but eventually this will be under $100 when bigger drive appears. If not HDD price always drops, I'll give it 5 stars. |

Cons:
none
Pros: great drive, tons of storage, quiet Comment:
Great drive, tons of space, and very quietspeed? well I dunno, u buy this for storage or media, not raw speed . SSD's for speed, WD Green's for storage.I bought 1 and in Raid 0 the seem pretty fast...but I never benched. Great drives, just PM it |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:-None
Pros:-Huge amounts of disc space-Prices are dropping fast for 2 TB Comment:
I had three 640GB drives almost maxed out with all my movies. Setup my partition on this drive and started copying. This drive was able to fit everything with 100GB+ left over. I'll be buying more of these once I get my RAID server up and running. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:a bit noisey, no hardware or wires, took over 5-6 hours to format
Pros:Cheap for the size/capacity Comment:
I bought this drive (around $130 on sale) to replace the 1TB Hitachi drive in my HTPC (which went to the work desktop whose 500MB Seagate drive is now the main drive on the HTPC replacing the WD 160GB drive). Basically it's a drive and we'll see how reliable it is. Did take over 5 hours to format. No problems so far other than it is a bit noisy |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:none known to me
Pros:silent, energy efficient, large capacity Comment:
bought this on special last week to back up my 2TB RAID that will soon move. Plugged into the system, FreeBSD recognized it right away and knew how to format it. Copied the data overnight, faster than I expected. Now it's going into a safe place until the server has moved. |
If you want to keep your data just pay a little more of get a smaller drive. This drive will give you IO errors, save yourself the trouble. Search the net you will find other with the same problem, why do you think they are giving them away at such a low price!!! Think people!!
