Good price tag but at a various type of cost.... Exactly where to begin...Negative Sectors, DOA Drives, a lot of numerous issues I ordered 5 of these drives for a recent NAS install. Much less than two weeks in 4 of the 5 have been returned. 2 Arrived DOA and other I couldn't get passed an initial all-1 Sector Write. These 3 are on their way back to NewEgg. Yet another drive has because failed and I RMA'd it back to WD to see if its just a poor batch sent to our friendly EGG. Every thing was packaged nicely from NewEGG so I'm not positive if its quality handle or what has occurred...but four out of five Drives Failing in less than a week is NOT acceptable from any harddrive vendor. Disappointing...

It's been a week and this drive is excellent so far. I replaced two IDE drives with this one on my Win7 method, its a lot far more energy efficient and Super quiet. It formatted to much less then 1.9TB but it's to be expected.

Once they operate they operate. These drives are solid if they run for 1 month with no problem. WD need to not check drives ahead of they go out the door. I ordered five drives at after and had to return two for being DOA. I received two new drives and of these two a single was bad failing the S.M.A.R.T. test. Newegg has been awesome with the return procedure. They are one of the finest corporations i have ever worked with! I would prevent WD if you want to be up and running on the first shipment. If you have time to deal with returns then these drives might just be for you.

Low cost, quiet, and trustworthy. They're slower than other drives, but I wouldn't say they're slow. Like I said, they're slower than most existing drives. They do use less power, but unless you leave your computer system on most of the time, I don't consider you'll save all that much power. I wouldn't pick this for a boot drive, but it would be a good second drive.

- Sufficient space (for the time becoming)- runs at 5.400 RPM = low temperature Well it appears Western Digital ships out numerous versions of this harddisk.I currently have 6x WD20EARS in my NASɈ of them are: 60MVWB0two of them are: 00MVWB0I started with 4x 60MVWB0 in my NAS, which I bought in early March 񢉛). Following a short whilst I noticed I didn't have adequate space, so I ordered two additional WD2EARS ƒ weeks ago), nonetheless these appeared to be 00MVWB0 harddisks. At initially I didn't think considerably of it, nonetheless there is a performance reduce in between 00MVWB0 and 60MVWB0 (the final one being the fastest and the newest model).Even worse one of the two 00MVWB0 seemed to have considerable complications (LBA errors, disk diagnostics failure, and so on).So if you can make a option, don't opt for 00MVWB0, but get the 60MVWB0 or appear for a different brand altogether!!Be warned. I contacted WD support about the poor harddisk and the performance among the (old) 00MVWB0 and (new) 60MVWB0. They mentioned, no difficulty just RMA the drives if they aren't operating as they should. Even so they ignored the component about the various versions. Further replies I didn't obtain on my assistance ticket. That becoming stated, I asked for two RMA numbers (it seems you submit much more than 1 harddisk at a time, sigh). After a handful of days, I received notice that 1 harddisk was shipped (the other 1, wasn't... Weird requested RMA the identical day, oh effectively). I checked it on the internet and what do I see, they friggin' shipped a 00MVWB0 once more.So I created numerous support tickets, but no answer whatsoever on my tickets and now the other harddisk also got shipped. And guess what? Also a 00MVWB0.Truly lousy assistance. I think I am going to use Samsung harddisks for my future rigs.

Lot of storage - low cost. Runs cool, no heat build up. none I have been working with WD drives for years. I have bougt more than two dozen for my personal use, and hundreds for the firm I worked for prior to retiring. Only had one particular fail immediately after 3 years throughout that time, and it was replaced promptly by WD, even even though it was not registered and we had no receipt.

None apparent. This is a followup to my 2ቪ critique. At that time I had just returned a DOA WD20EARS, and received a replacement. The replacement began failing within two weeks, and was completely useless a week later. Had to RMA it to WD.Two RMA's, shipping expenses, and lost self-confidence were way as well substantially hassle for a simple backup drive. I've moved on to Hitachi and Seagate. The 3rd WD20EARS appears to be working dependable, but I have a challenging time trusting it with my backups.BTW, if you want to verify/monitor Intelligent status and drive temp to see a issue establishing early on, download the no cost Acronis Drive Monitor plan.

Affordable for two Tarabit drive Order 2 and only 1 works. I read the other critiques but thought, well I will take a likelihood. It seems that either WD has no Excellent assurance inspections or NewEgg is horrible at handeling the item. This is just an unacceptable level of DOA drives. I generally had great luck with WD in the past, but naturally issues have changed for the worse. I would not recommend purchase of these drives.

Great drive. Extremely reliable, extremely major, extremely affordable. Haven't tried, but I realize you can't put these drives in a RAID I have my film collection ripped to 6 of these drives so I can take the films with me when I travel (travel 6mths to more than a year for contract function). No way I could haul 1000 films with me when I travel, 6 drives is a piece of cake although.. pop a single in a drive dock, and it's movie time. Under no circumstances had a WD drive go negative on me

My initial drive worked fantastic for a week. 100MB+ transfer speeds! My very first drive started showing bad sectors right after only a week. RMA'd it and my second drive wouldn't even initialize in Win7 disk management. I had to perform hard even for Win7 to recognize the drive at all. I have 4 other Western Digital drives: 2 80s are 6yo, 1 250 is 4yo, and 1 500 is 2yo. Not a single one particular of these has failed or even clicked. Don't give up on WD but give up on WD20EARS...at least for now. I've also heard these are terrible in RAID

none Initially purchased four of these drives then added 2 far more - have had to RMA three of these drives inside of a single month... and now that last RMA drive sent to me as a replacement was DOA. I don't know if the excellent is genuinely this poor or WD is dumping a load of marginal drives on Newegg or if Newegg is recycling RMA'd drives as new but this has been the most frustrating and ridiculous experience I have each had with WD drives and/or Newegg. To be sincere, I'd genuinely like to give this item eggs...As significantly as I swear by Western Digital drives and Newegg, this drive has to be the most poorly designed and/or QA'd drive in the world. There is no purpose for such a high infant mortality rate on a tricky drive. By the time you element in the expense of the RMA shipments, do your self a favor and spend the added ฤ on a drive that has a lot more than a 50% likelihood of working.

I have two of these in my Drobo, they work just fine. They top out at around 85 MB/s, but that isn't a problem since the Drobo itself tops out around 25 MB/s. One a price-per-gigabyte basis, the Western Digital Greens are very competitive, and these drives continue that trend.

This drive is a 2TB drive, and an upgrade from a 250Gb. Novices may possibly not comprehend that as a drive increases capacity but stays the very same size, the data reads/writes get faster to a degree. This signifies my 2TB Power Saver drive is most likely as high overall performance as my old Western Digital 250Gb overall performance drive, and at ๠, I just couldn't pass this up. I only have 1 of these so I can't raid them, but this is a plus since... another issue novices don't recognize is that when you upgrade an older technique with a brand new component, that portion can be sending as well a lot infomation by way of the technique, causing it to hiccup or even seize up, plus you have to accommodate larger power utilizes and even at times standards and/or compliance problems can arise. The purpose a power user like me buys a power saver drive isn't performance, see pro section, but the power supply has a far better likelihood to work with the drive. thus con is genuinely about how new hardware upgrade has been tempermental not because of unit, but rather my older laptop. Product is fine. At ๠ for 2Tb, I recommend for new program builders to consider developing a information backup unit working with a micro or mini atx box, they aren't as well much larger than the drive themselves, and this way you will be able to practise placing something together cheaply, and at 2Tb for ๠-100, it's worth it. Side note, construct the storage unit with an MS operating method that is for media center units, so the storage device can double as a media server.

Pros:Good sale price before the flood in Thailand
Comment:
It seems the hard drive is too big for its own good. Recommended to partition the drive to smaller sections before use. Or just use it for a raid array (raid 5 or better). I use it for storage drive, so I don't do much read or write to the drive. But after 1-2 years after purchasing this hard drive It lost its NTFS format, bad sectors detected. I was unable to recover the data from it using consumer level data recovery program. After a deeper look at the problem. The drives PCB seems to be burnt. Advanced RMA the product from WD.

Just bought my 2nd 1 for backup/archiving of photos.Besides drive performing as expected (not dying), have no notion how else to measure. Am not even certain if it is indeed "green", but taking word of other reviewers. My OS and Apps are on WD Black. "Green" appear ideal for information storage. Bummer! Need one thing here.Does not have 5 year warranty? But then it will be obsolete in two-three years so three year warranty is plenty extended adequate.

I picked up two of these drives for my recent computer build. I've always liked West Digital's product and the price for the drives was right. They're not the fastest drives on the market, but I plan to use them as data drives supporting an solid state drive. Good value for the money I invested.

Really very good price tag/capacity... WD drive so.... Excellent cache.... Can't truly notice too substantially with speed distinction between the Blacks I bought as nicely (for routine stuff). Huge transfers, definitely. I ordered two of these... A single DOA. Packaging from Newegg was great. Initial drive initialized but will not format. A number of HD Utilities (including WD's) but to no avail. The second formatted but will not read any Intelligent info, which WD site says it will be failing soon. Will be RMA'ing both of these drives. WD has usually been very good for me in the past. But I will definetly go with the Blacks next time and devote the additional cash.WD may well want to appear at the QC control for these. My 1TB Green is nonetheless going strong and wholesome...
