Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Comment:
Inexpensive, 2TB 64 Mb. Windows couldn't locate the drive. I had to manually add it. Immediately after windows and Bios identified the drive the S.M.A.R.T was negative. Faulty drive. Trying an additional tough drive of the exact same sort. If its superior I'll rate greater. |

Cons:none
Pros:does what its suppose to. Comment:
This couldn't be easier. Plug and play 2 TB HDD. Has been working with no problems. Great Shipping as usual with NCIX,I live far from a urban center and had my drive in 3 business days. I love this company. 2.5 TB wasn't enough space but 4.5 should do me for awhile lol. |

Comment:
Quiet when becoming applied continuously for long periods. Great speed and performance. Doesn't provide compost for the vegetable garden. I knew there would be some trade-offs for lower power consumption, but the idle lag is not too poor. When the drive is up to full speed you'd by no means know the distinction. I have two of these in a Netgear NAS bought from Newegg and they present all the storage I could dream of (for now at least). |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:none
Pros:Lots of storage, fair priced, reliable as far as i can tell Comment:
It spins very quiet and doesn't vibrate like other hard-drives. I use it as a back up for my video files. If you are looking for a good back up drive, this is for you. If you are looking for something that will do your laundry for you, then probably not |

Comment:
Price, capacity. Unreliable! This is a followup review: the initial 1 was DOA. Newegg promptly shipped me a replacement. It lasted less than a month, now fails all the WD diagnostics, so I have to RMA it to WD. Soon after this experience, and failures of a couple of significant (green) Samsungs, I believe I'll stick with Seagates and Hitachis for future purchases. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:not much other than speed and the fact that 2TB does not really mean mean 2TB, but 1.81TB
Pros:great price and reliability plus easy to setup and use right away, quiet as well Comment:
I bought this hard drive for storing movies and other media files, where I am not really needing high performance from this drive, but reliability and no bad sector errors. so I am happy with this HDD. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:it is slow
Pros:large storage capacity Comment:
I bought this to add to a media storage server. It is slow, high capacity, uses little power, and is backed by Western Digital reliability. I have 10 of these drives in use, have had trouble with one on install, but it was quickly replaced by WD. I would not use this as a primary OS drive, but if you are looking for media storage I do not hesitate to recommend this or any other drive in the WD Green line. |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:I guess the jumper alignment stuff can be a bit confusing?
Pros:Pretty much everything Comment:
While I think that the allegiance of people to certain PC brands is often silly, I am a ardent fan of the WD Green line. I don't put much stock in such anecdotal evidence of quality, but I've bought 8 drives from the Green line over the past few years and have yet to see a failure, and many of my Seagates have died during that period.I'm not qualified to speak of performance, but I can say that this is a ton of storage space, and a drive that runs pretty cool and quietly. |

Cons:slower response time
Pros:Nice and quiet, good capacity Comment:
This is not meant to be used as a system drive, it's meant to be used as a bulk storage device, which is what it excells at. I've been quite happy with the performance of this drive in that role. |

Cons:-bit slow, but knew that going in.
Pros:+green+spacious (2TB)+not noisy like other drives Comment:
Very good drive - spacious, quiet-moderate noise (definitely not an increase in audible sound coming from the computer) and the fact it's a bit greener is a plus. A bit slower than say the black but is to be expected. |

Pros:- Seem like lot of space for now- Quiet Comment:
Followed the forum suggestion to disable the autopark timer with WDidle3.exe. Doesn't take long to fill up 2Tb. So far so good. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-24-11 03:41 PM |

Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA 3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:none so far
Pros:Cheap, quiet and fast for a "green" drive Comment:
Used in an HTPC, where quietness is important. Really satisfied. |
Low cost. Drive was sort of DOA, my OS booted up with the drive not formatted, but as soon as I try to do something with the drive, it vanishes from my pc like it doesn't exist anymore. When unplug and replug the drive with OS booted, it can see it again, till I try to do Something with the drive, at which time it vanishes. RMA'd via WD, whom have a poor RMA approach. Have 2 other of these drives, however each were bought through a time this item had FAR fewer low ratings. Not certain what WD have done with the last few shipments, but they must be messing them up somehow with this several DOA drives. Just a thought. My suggestion would be to wait a couple of months and see how their drives pan out ahead of throwing money at it and getting to wait for a very probably RMA.
