I have owned this for practically two year and can’t speak adequate good issues about D-Hyperlink and this item; specifically immediately after firmware upgrade ;). I have only require to reboot it 1-2 in one particular year. Wireless is always reliable and even in basement exactly where the WII is situated it gets excellent signal strength. The size of the box is a tiny large, I was capable to match it into my property patch panel but it was tight. Lights are also bright but don’t bother me a lot given that it is tucked away in the patch panel box. The only explanation I am replacing it is due to the fact I want gigabit LAN which the house cabling currently help. Going to the D-Hyperlink DIR-655 and the D-Link gig eight port switchs.

Has been working wonderful for more than a year. Stopped working after a year . The cause for the poor rating is Quite POOR TECH Support. Incredibly POOR TECH Help. Contact tech help , I could hardly understand them . Did each issue they mentioned except for down loading new firmware (it's been functioning for over a year with the current firmware ) They will not concern a RMA. I Will not buy a different D-Link item

D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router
Cons:Stock firmware is absolute garbage (rev E3)

Pros:*Good low cost alternative to the aging WRT54GL*Wireless-N
Comment:
This router's stock firmware is absolute garbage for various reasons. But once a trunk build of OpenWRT was loaded in this router, all of the garbage that the stock firmware gave it was - gone - instantly. Other than that the hardware is an okay alternative to the aging WRT54GL.

Reasonably simple to set up. Bought my first one final year, the wireless was generally dropping connections, and would stop working until router was reset. It finally burned up and got replaced beneath warranty and the replacement unit is no better. Immediately after a couple of days of use, sometimes heavy with online video and Linux iso downloads and the wireless stops working, requiring a reboot. Avoid D-Link like the plague. I have in no way been happy with any buy of a D-Link item. I took a opportunity on this one particular mainly because it had been a long time due to the fact I had used D-Hyperlink products and this was N and was genuinely cheap on the deal I got. Don't fall for the trap, this router is pure trash.

-Low cost-No difficulties following switching to DD-WRT -Stock firmware dropped connections. I received the E1 HW revision, which(thankfully) just became supported by DD-WRT.The original firmware was decent and surprisingly feature rich, on the other hand it did sometimes drop connections half way by means of loading a internet page. None the much less, with DD-WRT on it now I've had no additional difficulties.

It achieves nothing even close to 300Mbps .. a lot more like 10Mbpsto the interweb it can only attain 1.5Mbps wirelessly but bypassing the router offers speeds over 2Mbps superior applied as a paperweight than a routeruse it for p2p and the issue just falls on its facelives up to none of its labelingpathetic ..

I promptly flashed this router with DD-WRT v24 SP2. It's rock stable, and performs as advertised. Where else can you obtain a device that can also serve as a PPTP server at this price tag point and consumes subsequent to absolutely nothing in electricity? It's provided tremendous bang for the buck. I use it as a wireless and remote access point and have had ZERO troubles. None... The unfavorable reviews riled me up. This device has tremendous prospective in the right hands. Factory firmware? What do you expect at this price point? Just look at it extended sufficient to navigate to the upload firmware page.....

Prior to you knock this device, I see a lot of critiques exactly where customers are attempting to use 802.3u for ADSL connections. It is meant for 3G cellular networks to supply information to the Online cards you can get from your cell provider. There are also various standards on these routers (DIR-450, DIR-451) which are precise to your provider. Newegg could probably supply additional technical information on alot of products like this that confuse so several individuals. People who brag about certifications are usually rather inexperienced. When you've been in the area for 13 years, no one particular cares even in the hiring course of action. Employers are also far a lot more concerned with experience and encounter. I could place a whack load of letters following my name, because I have them but it's cocky and makes you appear like a twit.

I got this factor almost two years ago on sale. Solid connection for almost two years now. Only dropped wireless when in two years. I don't know about all of the complaints about this unit, but I bought a initially generation (serial starts with F3B) router that's been strong this entire time. I've never had to update the firmware (even though it was recommended) and have under no circumstances had difficulties. It's literally been on for two years straight and has only dropped signal as soon as. Incredibly quickly on my Windows 7 Pc which has a D Link wireless N USB connector.

Worked wonderful when it worked.Rapidly.Good signal strength. Soon after about a year the wireless stopped working. The wireless drops each and every couple of minutes, and i unusable. Incredibly frustrating. I've attempted the usual, energy cycling, reset, re-flash, and so on.Also had the identical dilemma of some other individuals because it was new... Drops and gets flaky when the wireless is beneath high loads. Bought this mainly because it was a mid-range D-Hyperlink product, and they had been fantastic for a lengthy time. It's the opposite now, D-Hyperlink products are terrible now. I'll be going with Netgear once more. Bought the Netgear WNR3500L a though ago for my business and it's amazing. Put Tomato on it, it's totally strong. Will be replacing this D-Hyperlink with a Netgear, probably the WNR3500L.

it does offer you great wired connection. managing the router is easy and trusted. where to begin. the primary complaint i have is additional than 3-four devices on this router and it becomes a useless. regularly developing ip conflicts, and regularly unreliable internet connection. I've had to reboot this router in the starting effortlessly about 2-3 instances a week, then it went thru an easy couple of months, then I had 2 "extra" laptops and an additional Ipod, and the router went back to useless. I am still utilizing it lead to I'm waiting to replace it. Can't wait!

Great price and a lot of capabilities for a uncomplicated house network. Range appears quite excellent; better than my old router, but that isn't saying significantly simply because my old router was about 7 years old. Setup was not as straightforward as advertised. It may have been easier had I identified the username and password to my old router. I must have modified it from the default at some point, and I couldn't figure out what it was. Soon after the setup wizard told me that it couldn't support me, I had to call D-Link tech support, which told me to contact my ISP tech assistance so I could get my username and password to access my DSL modem, and then contact back the D-Link tech help so I could appropriately configure the router. All in all, it was a royal discomfort that ended up taking about two hours. One vibrant spot: hold instances for D-Link tech support had been minimal; about two minutes or so. I hope this router holds up as well as my final D-Link router did. I have located that setup on these points is by no means as simple as advertised. However, now that it is set up, it is operating fine.

Affordable Low cost My brother gave it to me simply because he could not get dd-wrt on it(MUST USE IE TO FLASH FROM Web INTERFACE). You nevertheless have to edit the dd-wrt firmware with a hex editor for the flash to function. Google for facts. My version is a C1. The newest firmware from Dlink is trashable as well. This router would keep me away from all issues Dlink. I favor Tomato, but DD-WRT wins this one.

-Wireless N, dd-wrt, Dependable wired and wireless connection, decent range, and even the stock firmware was working fine. -1st router would drop connections all the time, so I took it back. I bought this at Menards with a Wireless N starter kit. The stock firmware worked decently sufficient, but lacked many choices, so I flashed with dd-wrt and have been satisfied ever due to the fact on second router.

Got a couple of these, and added them to my network as access points. Very good overall performance on each G and N wireless networks. I have two of these identical units bought at the very same time. One particular is set on channel 7 and the other on channel eight. Common energy output from the one particular on channel 7 slowly drops down 10 dBmW compared to other APs (total of 8) in my network, and ought to be periodically energy cycled (or turn off wireless transmitter, wait a couple of minutes, then turn back on the wireless transmitter). It is set to max energy output, not automatic, and I've set to G only now. Hmmmm. Moved it to a new place, and attempting again.... Order right now, get it tomorrow!Enjoy Newegg when I get that 1 day (overnight) delivery when I order 3-day! I think the secret is to just order 1 or 2 things. Fortunately, I reside close to a neighborhood warehouse. But, I notice that when I spot a substantial order (more than 12 things?), my shipment comes from across nation and requires up to 6 calendar days. My secret: Order tiny, order generally!

I don't fully grasp why some people today have rated this router so undesirable. It has worked perfect for me because I installed it this mourning. Yes the install method did not go ideal first attempt, but inside 30 minutes I had my initially wireless router working perfect. My new Outstanding cell telephone is now connected to the network, and I haven't had a single problem these days with lots of use. It seems to be a lot rapid and has works with my laptop or computer, Panasonic blu-ray player, and PS3. Plus I have an added wired connection for the future. It has lots of flashing lights on the front which I don't know what they are all for but are fun to watch. I get the impression you can devote a lot much more funds for a 'fancy' wireless router that does the very very same thing this was does...it just operates. I highly suggest this item for individuals like me on a spending budget. Enjoy! I have the wireless safety set to optimum which performs with my HTC Amazing cell telephone, but not the PS3, which is BTW the fault of the PS3. You could step it down a notch, but why bother as the PS3 doesn't go anywhere so a wired connection if fine. I have heard it does perform with the PSP.

I run 2 game servers with my router (wired) and use the wireless for two laptops, Ipad and PS3 all at the similar time. No difficulties with speed or range.

Worked effectively for four days. Died on the 5th day. Not eligible for RMA mainly because I've had it over 30 days. Who is Cameo Communications? When I run InSSider, my other routers came up as DLink. This 1 ids as Cameo. Did someone purchase DLink and not tell us?
