D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router
Comment:
Good signal even in a 2500 sq ft residence. I have it mounted centrally in the Leviton structured media center box that is fully in-cased in metal. Good reliability and commonly have a 250-275MBit connection with my laptop working with 802.11n only (no mixed mode). Good built-in ports, security and administration. Require 4 a lot more ports. Had to add a switch to network all of the network ports in the rooms by means of out the house. Just would like to see an eight port style (not definitely a minus). *****I highly advocate this product******* For folks getting problems with any make or model of wireless routers: I would extremely advise checking the ū external AC Adapter as it is usually the trigger of disconnects and troubles. The capacitors and movs commonly burn out or leak voltage as they are extremely cheaply made.

It worked for a couple of month. Either I am having completely undesirable luck or this router is the worst pc connected item I have owned - ever. The router worked for a couple of month but then started disconnecting my laptop with no way to connect once more. I simply refuses to hand out an IP address and enables restricted connection only. Immediately after month of resetting and starting all more than yet again (every couple days or so) I finally known as technical support - you know where. Immediately after hour on the phone I was in a position to convince them that the item was defective. (I had meanwhile bought a applied not named router just to go on the internet). The lastly agreed to RMA and following a couple of weeks I received a new (used) router and the story starts all more than once more. It worked for a couple of month and since about two weeks I can't get an IP from the router and it is precisely the same. I am tired of resetting this router and setting it up more than and over again just so it will work for a couple of days. I have installed about 25 or so wireless routers for other individuals in the previous couple of years. 2 of them had been the identical Dlink model and both have complications. I applied to enjoy Dlink back in the wired router days, but I will not obtain yet another Dlink router yet again.I wish there was a star rating doable.

It was low-cost and there is the potential to run DD-WRT on the router -Awaiting a new image that supports the rev E1 hardware. Hopefully that will fix the speed and connectivity issues When operating the vanilla D-Hyperlink five. Firmware the access point regularly drops hyperlinks to many different PCs and the connection speed seems to leading out at 65mps. This may possibly be due to my current environment where I can see 12+ SSIDs, but my existing Linksys G AP has no such connection difficulties. I'm crossing my fingers that the DD-WRT community can come up with a FW image that will load onto the DIR-615 prior to writing this unit off completely. On the plus side, Newegg service is second to none! Excellent costs and quickly shipping. Thank you Newegg.

It was affordable. Every little thing Else. Setup was simple but it kept dropping wireless connections. Once it dropped them, you couldn't reconnect without having rebooting the factor. I believed the individual I installed it for was just getting a whiner until I traded routers with him. I won't obtain their items yet again. It's on a shelf now. It's not worth the aggravation. It appears like I'm not the only individual with this kind of encounter either. That's excellent to know. I hope D-Link pays interest. They lost a bunch of future buyers due to this pile of junk.

Straightforward to setup and configure. So far I haven't been able to get remote desktop operating in between wired and wireless machines. I need to have to investigate additional to see what demands configured for this to work. For ำ to get a 'n' spec router I couldn't go incorrect. I haven't tested the speeds but but that was not a main concern of mine.

It's affordable and when it was working it was fast and really functional.ds RMA'd 1st one mainly because it wouldn't renew IP from cable modem (Moto SB6120). Second 1 had the exact same challenge when I enabled wifi; if wifi was off, tough wiring worked fine. If wifi was on it would not renew my IP from cable modem. Each shipped with newest firmware and modem works perfect with just personal computer. Cable give stated modem was fine as well, which I always doubt. Not certain if there is truly anything incorrect with the second 1 or what, but, for certain, it does not operate with my setup, and I am leaning towards it not communicating correctly with my Motorola SB6120. Why, I don't know, looks like similar problems have been reported with the DLink 655 and MotoSB6120. Raise your glass to newegg for awesome buyer service even though!

Purchased this due to the backward compatibility with 802.11 B/G. Been utilizing > three months and no troubles to date. Haven't had dropped signals or a lead to to reset. Set up was straightforward but found out when trying to connect an older and newer laptop that I could not use the mixed mode setting. As a result, I'm not genuinely in a position to take benefit of the N speed. Older laptop recognized ideal away but my newer Sony VAIO would not connect until I changed the mode settings back to G. Fundamentally just a easy basic router that functions. Signal strength fairly good. Am in a position to connect to the internet out on my backyard deck which is pretty far away from the router. Good efficiency. Unable to use each N & B/G wireless setting simultaneously. Happy with this acquire.

Easy to set up, just worked, obtaining 300Mbps on all N-enabled devices. 802.11N iffy with WEP authentication, some devices work some don't. Had to finally switch everyone to WPA, which I ought to have completed a whilst ago anyways (WEP simply cracked). Great value, solid device.

Fantastic WIRED Terrible WIRELESS Junk, Trash, Garbage, And so on. It operates perfectly fine if you are WIRED to this router. WIRELESS is terrible. I blamed my service provider for a number of months until I replaced it with a Linksys WRT54GL. Got roughly ӯ mbps on wireless with this as the norm, even when sitting directly in front of the router for tests. After a reset, it will get ㅆ - 16 mbps for a limited time until it drops back down to ӯ mbps. The range is also terrible on this router. 1 wall or floor will drastically lessen speeds. Comparatively, my new router gets ㅍ mpbs although sitting in front of it. Via 1 wall or floor, the speeds do drop, but not as a lot as the D-LINK.

If the Dir 615 is droping your wireless connections, make sure the "WCN 2." is enabled. You can find it beneath the, SETUP tab, then the WIRELESS tab on the left hand menu, then MANUAL SETUP. It is the top tiny check box in the middle of the screen. NONE This is my second D-Link. Both have been incredibly stable and I have had no problems other than the 1 mentioned above. I used the old D-Link for over 8 years. I upgraded to get greater online filtering

Smaller It broadcasts for 6 to 8 hours and then stops. You need to have to unlug it and replug it in, there is no on/off switch, but you really should not need a single anyway. I have spent several hours on my personal and with dlink tech help and they have been the worst. The call center is loud, they barley speak english and all they know how to do is produce a new wireless network. Firmware updates don't assist, no warranty period and no tech support. I wish I paid the 10 x-tra bucks and went with Lynksys or back to 2Wire. Don't give them a try get them off the market ASAP...

Affordable. Wireless N. I use it across a room I didn't want to run a cable, strictly like a access point. Functions properly. Only has 100mb ports. So even with a 1gb network and a 130mb or quicker N connection it only connects to machines at 100mb. Affordable. Did I say it was inexpensive. Works fine, won't blow your sox off.

Wired functions well as it must. Wireless will connect 70% of the time and then you have to power cycle the unit so wireless will connect. You have to force any Apple item to connect to the unit. This is a difficulty for dlink merchandise. 2nd item in a row from d-link that has complications with Apple products. I doubt 3rd time will be a charm if I go with one more d-link product. I have called their support and it's a joke.
