D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router
Cons:None so far...(maybe the setup cd, not a fan)
Pros:Easy to set up.Lots of options when you start exploring. Comment:
I bought one of these for my in-laws and set it up in a few minutes. The bios is quite extensive and wouldn't be user friendly (i would guess a n00b would be intimidated by the manual setup options), and hence they have the automated setup wizards (i had to adjust some of the settings after the wizard anyway but it did a decent job for the average user). The only complaint i had was that the setup cd (which contains the manual and initial setup wizard) installed some proprietary networking software that i wasn't prompted for. The disk isn't necessary anyway as you can run the wizard after you log in to the router anyway is why it wasn't a real weakness.I am very impressed with the robust features offered by this router and am considering purchasing one for myself. |

D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router

Agreed, I wish I had seen this sooner. I purchased this unit with a laptop card and it took three days t get it all to work without disconnecting. But it will not connect at 300 no matter what I do. Dlink well they dont have a clue. Sorry Tiger I am sending this one back. |

D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router
Cons:I'm particularly good with networking and routers so I need D-link to help me set some things up but once you get the hang of it, its pretty simple.
Pros:Very easy to useGood signal strenghGood SpeedSome nice security Featuresgreat customer service Comment:
I think its a good router and have found it quite relable. Just make sure you set up a secer signal so your neighbors don't start downloading from your ISP. i would recommend this to anyone who wants a cheap and very effective solution |
I am getting 5 bars everywhere in my house. Router is on top floor(2nd) and still good signal around house. 70-100% signal according to the routers FW all around.Quick setup, took like 1-2 minutes to setup all my computers in my house. No CD or installation necessary, even though it says to use it, but it works perfectly fine without it.The firmware has a TON of options compared to my old router. Can be confusing to navigate to find things. But most of it you don't really ever need to touch. Security is easy to set up. MAC ID access is the best security to use, since WEP/WPA are useless and can be cracked in like 1 minute.Came with a ugly looking stand I think it is. Also came with a weird looking AC adapter, most are L shapped ones this one is like | shapped. Not really a probably just a tad weird and possibly easier to knock out of the socket.Only other faults I see are no Gigabit etherport, which isn't that much of an issue to most people. And no QoS,I have heard this actually works quite well on the higher models so it would of a been a nice feature to have. (Seems to cost $50-80 more to add this feature though) This review was modfied by poster @ 12-29-07 09:01 PM
