Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:-Intel cooler install brackets are a pain in the butt compared to the very easy just clip it on AMD cooler design.-Includes CPU cooler is rather small, I'd recommend an aftermarket cooler or lowering the voltage if your board allows for much cooler CPU operation.

Pros:-Can run at somewhat lower than rated voltage safely at stock speeds to around 1.1volts in my case 1.15volts with speed step overclocking to all 4 cores.-Runs fairly cool for speed of CPU (lowering voltage makes it run even cooler)-Fairly power efficient compared to AMD speed wise-Likely the best CPU for a gamer with a high end video card for the price paid
Comment:
System runs great, no system crashes yet and temps are fairly good especially with an aftermarket cooling solution. I didn't even try the included CPU cooling solution which I am sure would be lacking for anyone that overclocks which only makes sense if you are buying an "unlocked" CPU. However I bought the "unlocked" CPU in order to under volt and use less power :). This review was modfied by poster @ 10-30-11 12:27 AM

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Lacks hyperthreading and VT-X

Pros:Great performanceGreat priceGreat overclocking
Comment:
The best performance per dollar you can get right now. Pretty much the 2nd or 3rd fastest CPU available. Buy a decent cooler and get an extra ghz or more.Lack of HT can hurt performance in more than just encoding. If ALL you do is gaming, you won't care, but that extra $100 might be worth it if you ever stray beyond games.

Cons:- no hyper-threading

Pros:- Fast processor- Good price in relation to i7-2600k
Comment:
You save a 100 bucks and only lose around 5-10% performance when you go down from the i7-2600k to i5-2500k. Still an amazing processor.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:I guess if you didn't mind less performance there are other options out there that would do a decent job. On chip video could be better.

Pros:best value multicore cpu for gaming out there right now, affordable despite Intel being the only real option for cpus right now in terms of getting great value, unlocked cpu is great for overclockers, on chip video
Comment:
This cpu was on sale for as low as $199 and to me I can't believe Intel has offered such a great product at such a low price. In the past for their higher end cpus they charged much more than what they are charging right now. Intel i5 2500k is also an unlocked cpu which is great for overclockers. The Intel i5 2500k also has on chip video which allows you the option of not having to buy a stand alone video card but yes you will get better performance from some really affordable video card options out there. Intel really needs to improve in this area.

have this overclocked to 4.8 ghz, totally stable, on MSI p67 mb and ripjaw ddr3, with 2 tb drive, all from newegg. Blazing fast rock solid and inexpensive to boot. all components above combined are less costly than extreme 1156 processor by itself, and outperforms it by far. PCPitstop benchmark of my system shows this processor in top % worldwide out of millions of processors tested. None! You will have no regrets. Have been making systems for more than 20 years and this is get far best bang for the buck. Very pleased!

First Intel CPU since i486. Very pleased so far. Overclocked to 4.3GHz without problem with an aftermarket HSF (CM 212+). Temp are good at 1.24Vcore 31-51 celcius (24c room). Will be enjoying this little beast for a while :)

I bought this for my new Sandy build. Worked out of the box (as expected). Got it for its over-clocking ability & reasonable price. I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face when I got it!

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:a little expensive (can't argure with performance)

Pros:faster than an amd x6, overclocks
Comment:
Putting together a build for a friend who wanted a fast system and was leaning towards an 1100t amd, but did some research and it seems between the two, the 2500k is the champ. Together with a good hsf and Z68XP-UD4 motherboard using the included et6 overclock utility, this easily overclocks to 4.3ghz and is stable. With 16gb of ram, my friend is more than satisfied with the performance.

Pros:-Very quick stock clocks-Proud to have a little Intel in my PC haha
Comment:
Great CPU, if you are thinking of getting an i7.. DONT! This is $100 cheaper, and you can still pull off similar clocks. Anyways, it isn't like the 2500k bottlenecks anything (unless you got two GTX 590's).

- Significantly, considerably quicker than my Q6600- Works greater with my GTX 470. - The difference is playing vidya games was beyond noticeable. I can't think I've been missing out on so considerably in them with the Q6600 I had just before.- Plays games on par with the 2600k mainly because the lack of "Hyper Threading" and a lot more streamlined approach to processing.- 95W = Low heat. (Especially with my Prolimatech Heat sink and scythe fans!) - At that cost.. how can you have any cons?- Only genuine gripe I have is cost of mobos.. but I would have had to acquire 1 anyways seeing as how I was nonetheless in the stone ages with LGA 775.- Also.. not genuinely a massive fan of the new BIOS.. but I am just being nit picky. A great get at its cost vs performance.Tear up games with the new i5!

Cons:N/A

Pros:Incredibly fast for the price rangeEasy to overclock
Comment:
Going from an old AMD dual core from 2007 to this was definitely shocking. And that was even before I overclocked it, which was incredibly simple to do even with no prior experience.I got it to 4.4ghz with a hyper 212+ and my temperatures never go over 50 degrees, even running prime95 for hours. I could probably go higher, too.

Comment:
Inexpensive. performs far better or at least competitively with greater priced cards. Draws less power. Stable. No hyper-threading. Not deducting an egg due to the fact it never claimed to have it. Have to get a new motherboard to use this card. Not deducting a point for this simply because it's not the chips fault. For those who may possibly not know what hyper-threading is and why you really should care; it merely the term applied to describe a fuction of the CPU where it divides a single core to act as a 2nd core to deal with much more tasks. In a 4 core chip, hyper-threading would split each and every core, so the personal computer would see 8 cores to use. This allows for a lot more effective processing, and expanded multitasking. If the number of processing cores matter to what you're doing, hyper-threading can be a massive deal. If you're playing games, you won't see a true massive distinction, due to the fact most games hardly ever if ever even see four cores, let alone 8. I'm a gamer, so the lack of hyper-threading bothers me not at all. If it matters to you, then you must invest 贄 much more in a Core i7 2600k, which is basically this very same chip but with Hyper-threading and a slightly larger cache.

Comment:
This being an i5, it is not hyper-threaded. You should know that going in, but the price to get an i7 with hyperthreading is another $100, so I don't think that it's worth it. Good Performance, and I've never had an Intel processor fail.

Pros:When I bought it with my Mobo I got the i5-2500k for only $199.99Can't beat that- Runs great on all my games and software- OC'd to 3.8ghz with a program that came with my mobo, Smart6.- Worth buying over the i7-2600k in terms of gaming

Easily the best bang for your buck right now when it comes to CPUs. The thing is uber-quick out of the box, but really shines when it comes to overclocking. I've been pretty conservative with what I've done with it (4.3 and 4.4) so far (I'm waiting for an Antec 920 to replace my Corsair A50), but all the numbers have looked great in terms of what I've done speedwise. Worth every penny so far.
