Cons:Shitty stock cooler

Pros:Great speedGreat valueGreat price
Comment:
This hits the sweet spot for casual to moderate gaming. Ended up getting a Noctua U12 to help with the cooling. PLEASE don't stay with the stock cooler.

Cons:- None

Pros:- POWERFUL- Much cheaper than previous 1st gen I7
Comment:
Bought this for a friend's build as well as mine. The benchmarks don't lie! This thing is a beast compared to previous generation i7s, even the i7 980x six core. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking to make a really powerful computer for low-cost.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:-The price is somewhat high (200-210$). If on budget, this may be out of reach-The stock fan, as you all know, isn't good should you OC it. It does a fine job on stock speed. But as soon as you OC, you will need to buy a better Heatsink. This isn't new, and shouldn't be a reason to not buy this CPU.

Pros:-Very fast-Very easy to overclock : I am no expert at overclocking. However, I was able to boost it to 4.5 ghz in a matter of seconds. All test suggest that it is very stable too!-I switched from AMD to current generation of Intel and so far no regret!
Comment:
If you are building a gaming computer (with a decent budget), all reviews agree on this : I5-2500k is the cpu to get. Very easy to OC, very powerful. I'm very satisfied and would definately recommend it to my friends

Pros:-Running b 4.5Hgz, 25-30C ambient, 35C idle and 55-60 b load (Coolit ALC)-Power house, destroys everything i throw at it

Easy decision to buy this chip, you should know if you need to step up to the 2600k or not.

Cons:None

Pros:OverlockingPrice
Comment:
This CPU overclocks like crazy, as long as you get decent cooling, ram and power supply. Stock cooling will do but you might run into overheating issue quite often. Ventilation is also important-case should have quite a few vents.Price-performance wise, you get more with the 2500K than 2600K.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:- None

Pros:- Great for OC- Decent price- Solid processor- Stock speed is already pretty good
Comment:
This is the ideal choice for a solid, affordable gaming PC. In terms of gaming performance, it's on par with the 2600k, so don't spend the extra money for that. Also, if you don't plan to do any OC, go for the 2500 version.I've been using it with a ASUS P8P67 Pro (rev. 3) board, no issues, runs very smoothly. I changed the stock cooler with the Noctua NH-C12P SE14. Very easy to OC, especially matched with that board. Intel has been making excellent processors in the past years, and this is one of them.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Not good for SLI/Xfire, would require a good draw and serious OC

Pros:More or less on par with the 2600KAmazing for gamingCheaper then the 2600K
Comment:
I decided on the 2500K for budget and long-term reasons. Since I wasn't building a powerful rig for SLI/Xfire and only needed it for gaming which meant the bottleneck didn't really apply to me.Got lucky with mine and it runs at a stable 4.7Ghz at roughly 65C and managed to push it to 5.0Ghz once with prime 95 running overnight. But it did get a bit too hot so I decided to tweak it back down. Runs pretty much on par with a i7 2600K and looks like it'll be good for a long time to come.I'd recommend picking up one of the K series before they stop making them, definitely one of the better ones to have. Save yourself $100 if you don't do anything intensive because benchmarks between the 2500K and 2600K indicate they're almost on par with the 2600K having an advantage when SLI/Xfire because it doesn't bottleneck as much.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:- Nothing really. Can't complain if your chip won't do 4.8Ghz cause it's actualy rare on air. However ANY will do 4.5Ghz but some with more voltage than others but they all can.

Pros:- 32nm, low heat/voltage.. at least stock lol.- Good price at 200$ for such a powerful cpu.- Ridiculously high overclocking potential! See below
Comment:
I sold my Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8Ghz f 3.9Ghz for a very good price so I bought this 2500K for almost nothing. It was reallly worth it mostly considering no game actualy use more than 4 core at 100% and these are quite a lot more powerful.I managed to pull mine up to 4.50Ghz with a decent 1.33v (Low vDroop) and all the rest on Auto in the bios and all energy saving stuff enabled. It's a lie that it's gonna be less stable if you don't disable them. Maybe it was several years ago but Intel said it was designed to be OC together. 4.60Ghz wasn't even Prime stable with 1.365v so I gave up. It idles at 30C and is like at 35C when doing common small tasks. Never been much above 61-65C.

Cons:Socket 1155 only? None.

Pros:Overclocks INCREDIBLY well, can probably get 4.0 on stock fine. Reports of over 5.2 on watercooling.Easy to install.Simple to OC, just change multiplier.

Great processor, will keep you in the game for a long time to come. Recommend overclocking this, if not, go for plain 2500, not K unlocked edition.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:not as good a deal as the 2600K

Pros:FASTEasy to overclockEasy to install
Comment:
This CPU is the fastest I've ever seen. it's the first one I've ever broken the 5ghz barrier on overclocking. The Asus autotune utility on my P8P67-Pro AUTOMATICALLY overclocked it to 5.2ghz, and it was perfectly stable (using a Noctua NH3-D14 HSF). But I downclocked to 5ghz to be on the safe side. It's not quite as fast as my other system which is a 2600K. The difference is this one IDLES slightly lower, vs the 2600K which IDLES slightly faster. The maximum turbo on each is the same. Plus the 2500K lacks the hyperthreading this one has.Overall I'd recommend this chip to anyone on a bit of a budget. Otherwise spend the extra $100 and get a 2600K

For the price this is the best CPU. It runs great at stock and awesome when overclocked. The temps on it are fantastic too. You'll need a aftermarket cooler if you really want to overclock it, but its still a great cpu anyway you look at it!

Cons:-Only 3.3Ghz

Pros:-The best CPU of 2011-UNLOCK multiplier-Intel Inside
Comment:
I'd rather have a single core running at 12Ghz than 4 cores at 3.3Ghz. That aside, this CPU will probably go down in history as one of the best CPU to ever be available for the PC. First is the the original 8086, Second is the Celeron 300A. This will take Third place. The amount of technology you get for $200 is just unreal, and when was the last time you had a multi-unlock CPU from Intel? This PC was assembled for my sister who bought all the parts. I think I'm going to build a new one for myself also.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:None really. Got it for $199.99

Pros:Went from: Core 2 Duo E8400 to i5 750 to i5 2500K.Major drastic improvement of course was from E8400 to i5 750.Reason why I went i5 750 to i5 2500K is because I never O/C for many reasons so for me every owned CPU ran at stock settings and when you compare i5 750 (2.66 GHz) to i5 2500K (3.30 GHz) then you realize that you get a 640MHz boost, and let me tell you, it is quite something!I also got an ASRock Extreme4 Motherboard (extremely good).
Comment:
i5 750 to i5 2500K, those 640MHz more aren't significant but help in many ways (Gaming and SSD). I haven't too much to say but I can tell you that the 100-120$ more you pay for the i5 2600K isn't worth it at all as long as you don't do specific work with it.

I am very happy i made this upgrade over a q8300 that i was running for a few months. This processor kills anything you put in its way, I can fold on two cores, and still game avidly. That was a major upgrade from an E7300 and I see no-way someone could regret buying one unless the AMD Bulldozer crushes all intel CPUs. Buy it, you won't regret it!
